Disclaimer: This review is strictly based on the food and not the service! I genuinely need someone to explain to me how this place has such great reviews because I'm so confused. This doesn't make sense. The menu is overpriced for what turned out to be very mediocre food. I ordered the California Crispy Chicken, which was three stacked pancakes with a fried egg, bacon, and a piece of fried chicken, served with French fries. Sounds promising, right? NOPE. The chicken was dry and slightly burnt. The fried egg? Completely fell apart, ummm how does that even happen?! It somehow blended in with the pancake. Neither the chicken nor the egg had a pinch of seasoning. No salt, no flavor, NOTHING! Just dry and bland. The lettuce in between the pancakes was wilted and soggy. Gross! The pancakes... no condiments, no butter, no syrup, just dry stacks. I didn't even bother asking for ketchup for my fries because that's an American thing. As for the drink, I ordered a honey iced macchiato. The honey settled completely at the bottom and wasn't even mixed/blended in. My first sip was like drinking straight honey, overwhelmingly sweet! This cafe/diner happened to be attached to the hotel we stayed at in Munich. It gets a lot of walk in traffic right off the busy sidewalk for people grabbing coffee (espresso or cappuccino) and a pastry. However, they offer a Western-style breakfast menu that brought me in, as I am a devout carnivore and I need my protein. The kids were all very delighted with their selection of pancakes, and everything was very tasty. The main host, who may be the owner, is extremely pleasant and speaks very good English. The convenience to our hotel made it the no-brainer go-to for our several days stay in Munich, and the service and food quality was very good. But, it came with a hefty price tag. The dining space is set up to have an Americana ambience, complete with 90's R&B. It is very clean. It can get pleasantly noisy as the cafe fills with patrons, and seating is set up for smaller groups of 2 or 4.
