Very busy lower basement large Irish Pub, popular with a younger crowd. Seating is tight and uncomfortable, but appropriate. Was quite happy with the bacon & cheese burger, tasty! Portion sizes are XXL, basically the fries are standalone dinner-sized, and the 200g burger is as well. Neighbouring table had the club sandwich which I couldn't believe how big they made the serving. Wash down with a couple pints of beer and repent the next morning. read more

Made the mistake of going there for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Place was crowded and noisy to start. The plate of food was unappealing. A slice of ham in brown gravy topped with sliced turkey with a sweet sauce over that. The stuffing was in slices and cold. Sweet potatoes were thick slices of cooked yams and lukewarm. The most edible part of the meal was the mashed potatoes. Service was spotty at best. I might go back for a burger as they looked decent. read more

Absolutely outstanding location and beer garden! On our particular visit it just happened to be Munich's Music Festival weekend of 50 live bands throughout the city. We were able to watch a couple different really nice bands play and enjoy a few beers on a perfect Munich afternoon. As noted, we dined and drank outside, but when utilizing their facilities we were able to see the interior decor and I was very impressed! Nice! Very nice! A bit overpriced in my opinion, hence the 4-Star rating. Otherwise you can't go wrong with its location and beer garden ambiance. I was always a fan of Kennedy's but now I'm not so sure, I waited an eternity for service even though I informed my waitress when I got there that I was sitting "out of view" so that she'd know I was there! I then asked another waitress if she could send someone, after still no one came I got up found my waitress again, and asked if I could be served! As she finally came she proceeded to serve another table that had just came, knowing that I'd been waiting longer! Now she just refused to serve me and the ...Manager moved me to another table, to serve me himself,... so 30 minutes later I finally have something to drink! This was a great place to go for a change to the traditional Bavarian food. I loved my bacon cheese burger and heard from other people in my group that the Shepards Pie was amazing. They werent great with the customization my husband wanted (no sauce or cheese on his burger) but that was the only negative. Well. I was looking for some place to eat after 10PM. That's the only asset I noticed for this place. I don't have high expectation on Irish pub and it's food but the burger... Really ? Bread was cold, cheese wasn't melt and the meat.. was it actually meat ?? And the Guinness tasted like a lager (ok I was in Germany but Guinness man !) Update: I have received a message from Kennedys about this with an apology and I appreciate that they took this concern of mine seriously. As I had written below, I had been there number of times and all my previous experiences were good. Therefore, I believe it was probably an one off unfortunate incident. However, I leave the original review unchanged below. Extremely Racist experience. Just to be clear, I have been there before a few times in the last 5 years and my previous experiences with them were alright, international and friendly, which makes this incident even more surprising. I would have taken this to be just the action of a single racist doorman mixed with alert after the Brussels attack. But since the manager stands by the racist behavior of his bouncer and does not condemn it, I suppose it is the policy of Kennedy to be racist and not just the doorman. Which also explains the repeated complaints of racism in their facebook reviews against the doorman. They were particular that we do not record anything and delete any recording that my friend might have made when the whole conversation was going on, so definitely not the first time it happened. So this is what happens. Wanted to get dinner with a friend, who was already inside. When I tried to get in I was asked for ID while others were just being let in without any checks. Once he saw my ID he just said that I am not welcome here. No reasons whatsoever was given, other than you am not welcome. Just to confirm, I did not have any bags with me, talked politely and since I came straight from work was completely sober and also neatly dressed. When asked further and pointed to the sticker on the door saying Munich is colorful, more racist comments were made by the bouncer. When we asked the manager, he explained there was an alert and just said he stood by his staff. I can understand you check person due to security concern, but saying that I am not welcome after checking the ID is just racial discrimination. If you are fortunate to get in, this is my review of the place otherwise. Plus: the burgers are good and portions are generous. The waiters and barmen are friendly, at least the once I have encountered. Minus: I did not like the fried plates, ordered them twice and both times it felt like it was fried in heavily used oil. It only shows when it not hot, so if you ordered it then finishing before it cools down is recommended. read more

Although it can get extremely full and reservations have to be made well in advance, Kennedy's is one of the best pubs in town. Its ample variety of food includes pub favorites such as Fish and Chips, Burgers and various baskets of fried goodies. To quench one's thirst there is a variety of beers (Guinness, Kilkenny, Augustiner, etc), ciders (Bulmers, Strongbow) and assorted liquors. The staff is very friendly and the environment is always good. A great venue for watching a football game, live music or, if you like singing, to join the karaoke night. I don't like the big pubs but it is a good place to just sit and have a beer. Then I asked one of the waiters to recommend a whisky according to my taste (not too smokey). He recommended excellent stuff and broadened my whisky horizon. The guy was awesome and fun. The burgers are so so , not too fancy but the one emptying the whole plate must be a monster it's a LOT!!! The folks in there are peaceful, fun and multicultural. Like it but it's really too packed all the time . But it does show how successful the pub is being run. Every time I went there, the restaurant was pretty full. So make a reservation or expected some waiting time if you are not lucky. I heard the burgers were good so I try that. The menu looks nice and there is a large choice of beverages and food. The plate is huge, the burger comes with some fries(not fresh made), the coleslaw is nice and tasty but I was a bit disappointed with the beef patty. Indeed, it was written on the menu that it comes medium cooked but mine was more than well done and burned on one side... After eating it I felt quite bad :( Maybe it was just an unlucky experience. The service was really good though, the waitress was very friendly and the dish came quickly. They have a nice selection of ciders that I recommend. One last point is that it's quite noisy as it's full. But I guess it's a nice atmosphere if you like watching games as it's always playing on big screens. read more

We were searching out a place in Munich for American style Thanksgiving dinner and heard about Kennedy's and decided to give it a try. For one thing they have NFL (dare I say 'real' football?!?) on the big screen. Food was quite decent. Not my mom's Thanksgiving but that would be asking a lot. Atmosphere was great - loud & friendly. I travel a lot so the atmosphere is to be expected in an Irish pub but the absolute best thing about this place is the ribeye. I've now tried the burgers, and they are horrible. I'm not even convinced they were made of beef. There seems like there had to be some other meat or meat products, and probably some sort of grain or meal mixed in. In other words, I will NEVER, EVER, EVER AGAIN EAT A BURGER HERE. They were playing American football on the telly when I went in for a beer and a sit-down. The place was packed and some folk were even watching the game! The Irish beer on tap seemed to either be Guinness or Kilkenny. I'm not complaining as I really didn't come to Munich for a non-native brew. Kennedy's, however, is in a prime spot right by the Sendlinger Tor U-Bahn stop, the heisse Maroni stand, and the lovely Sendlinger Tor theater. Kennedy's is always a fun place to hit up on a night out - although it gets really packed really quickly so you pretty much have to be an early bird if you want a table! Aside from the atmosphere and the drinks, the food is also pretty tasty and the service has been great whenever I've been there. The burgers and sausages are definitely worth a try but I would stay away from ordering the fish and chips - it's no where near as delicious as proper British cod and chips! I think it's worth checking out if only to con your friends into trying the delightful and horrifying experience that is Snakebite!! Kennedy's is not a bad place to hang out. It's more of a bar than a restaurant but the food is quite good, the burgers and meat dishes in particular. The beer, which includes strong ciders and other international selections, are also quite good. The prices are very reasonable and the place, even though in a cellar is very spacious. Minuses: Reservations, if you get one at all, are only possible until 8pm. It's always very full and loud and, if you have the misfortune of going on Wednesday, Karaoke night, you'll get a chance to meet some of the worst singers in Munich who insist on singing over and over again.all night! Add to that a couple of strong ciders and you've got the perfect recipe for the worst hangover the next morning! Would recommend a visit but either with a reservation or as early as 7pm in order to get a table. And definitely NOT on a Wednesday night or on a game night. read more

I had such a fabulous night at Kennedy's. We ended up here after meeting two English guys who assured us that Kennedy's was an amazing American-Irish pub in Munich. We were there on a Saturday night and there was a great cover band playing American hits from the '90's. It was a very diverse and super friendly crowd of 20 to 30 year-olds. I would have to say that it was the friendliest bar I have ever been to in the world. Wandering around the metro and streets as we struggled to find a bar with little to no knowledge of German. It's a cute little sports pub and is extremely overcrowded you can barely even walk! They were showing multiple matches on different TVs, let me just tell you the people of Munich LOVE soccer and I can appreciate that!! So for me, this place was great. While we were at Oktoberfest we got into a conversation about singing and discussed how much I love karaoke so they suggested an Irish pub they knew about that has karaoke on Monday and Wednesday so we decided to go on a Wednesday night, what we didn't realize was that there was a fc Bayern Munich game on that night and everything in Munich stops when their team plays since they are so good, so we were hoping to do karaoke but it didn't start until after the game ended so we didn't actually get to sing at all but we did get to sing along to a few songs, they have a small stage in the front, the ambiance is just like any Irish pub I've ever been to before and it kind of reminded me of the ones back in New York, they had a few beers on tap and bottles as well as ciders, they have food as well, I figured since I was in Germany I'd try a German dish, I had the bratwurst'l which is a plate of sauerkraut with 6 mini sausages on top, it was good and tasty, one friend had a burger and fries which looked good and another friend had some spring rolls, overall this was a nice spot, good to have some variety read more

Food is mediocre, ok if you dont have great expectations However service is terrible. You are made waiting long. If you sit at a reserved table but the reserving party does not show up after 45 min, they will give the table to someone else- who also has not reserved, and they want you to leave the table, although you are welcoming new people at the table and are willing to eat and drink and pay more. This is not understandable. You will not get served from then on and you get rude comments from staff. This is not acceptable. read more

I have been to Kennedy's two times now. First time I ate a Cheddar Cheese Sandwhich and my friend a burger. The portion was huge and was just delicious! The waiters are cool and very courteous. The prices totally okay. Because I liked it so much and I loved the interior decoration (especially in the small "library" room next to the huge open room), I went there a second time with a friend, who absolutely loved it as well. I was here today, sitting outdoor, with my wife while visiting Munich. We had an Irish bald guy as a waiter. I had a beer and today's salad, my wife had a vegetarian salad with water. My wife's dish was perfectly ok, mine was not. I ate the small pieces of salmon but left the rest totally drenched in some disgusting dressing. Of course I left it completely. An hour later the waiter turns up, without asking me, with a new salad without dressing. At that stage I was not hungry anymore and declined. When he later came with the check I politely said that in Los Angeles, they would have dropped the charge for my salad. He completely refused and when I also as a polite recommendation said that they should take away the ashtrays so that guests doesn't need to passively inhale cigarette smoke while eating, he went completely ballistic and I was completely verbally abused. First time in my life I get verbally abused while being a guest at a restaurant. Well, go there at your own risk. I wouldn't recommend the place, rather a place to AVOID! read more
