If you crave for real american burgers in Munich, thid would be the place to go. The burgers are juicy but not raw - just perfect. Love the overall ambience of the place too.

Best grilled cheese of my life. We also had the motz sticks and onion rings (certainly weren't like anything from back home, but on a two week tour of Europe, it'll do). I had the pancakes my friends had the burgers. The pancakes weren't as fluffy as I had liked and had a different taste. The bacon however was about as crispy and real as to bacon back home as well. The milk shakes are delicious, but seriously the grilled cheese. You need to get it.

Grilled cheese with onion rings

I'm really surprised I've never heard of this diner since it is an American diner but I'm glad I was introduced. I went with a group for a birthday and we had two tables in the back. It's set up like your typical American, old school diner. I ordered a beer, a grilled cheese (idk why, I was craving it at the moment) and onion rings. The grilled cheese was good but it's difficult to go wrong with a grilled cheese. The onion rings were good but only because they came with ranch. Yes people, this diner actually has ranch! That's normally unheard of in Munich... Our waiter was great. He told us he's originally from Texas. Super nice guy. A friend told us that a couple of players from Munich's football (American) team work here although we didn't get a chance to ask our waiter if he's on the team. So yea, this place was super fun! I definitely recommend.

California done better than California itself - in the heart of Munich. Visiting Munich - seeing…read morethis place as a breakfast choice was fun - and honestly I wasn't initially enamored as I expect something like this to be a caricature of the real thing maybe. But the menu felt unique and interesting enough to visit. I got the Apple Almond Affair - stacks of pancakes, roasted apples and almonds - interlaced with vanilla cream, whipped cream and a side of vanilla ice cream. The Palm Beach - a coconut infused chia pudding with fruit. And - the Hermosa Beach - hash browns topped with mushrooms, onions, egg, bacon and cheese. Additionally - coffee! I was very satisfied with all the flavors - as I mentioned - better than California actually offers. The apple pancake dish was decadent but not over the top intensely rich as one may expect it to be. The hash brown dish was super flavorful and pleasantly presented, with fried eggs perfectly adorning the stack. And the chia pudding was also delicious (covered in bananas - which I removed for myself but were eaten by my companion). Currents and other fruit was atop this dish - a lovely flavorful pudding. Service was outstanding, welcoming. Seating - busy morning but no real wait. Cash only on this day due to network issues but that was ok. Just a very inviting space with lovely people and uniquely outstanding food. Must visit in Munich no matter where you are from!

It's very interesting/confusing to see other Californians review this place AND say that it is authentic to their experience going to a diner back home. Our table ordered omelettes with toast, OJ, and coffee. While the latter were fine, I take issue with the main dish. Every diner I've been to back home has Heinz ketchup and perhaps a hot sauce like Tabasco or Cholula. Every other table in sight also lacked these items, which definitely made my meal less enjoyable. We need seasoning beyond salt and pepper if we are going to call this place California-inspired. Service-wise....it's Germany, not California. Leave your expectations for cheerful and attentive service back home. It ain't happening here. Lastly, cash only? Even cash only joints here tend to post a sign somewhere to alert you in case you don't know. We found ourselves scrambling due to this policy. Ambiance and decor was boring and I have definitely seen something like this in California. SKIP California bean (unless you're in a bind like we were)

I'm glad I had the opportunity to dine in this beautiful 150 year old restaurant. My review comes after its closure but it serves to honor the restaurant in hosting my visit. The Building is amazing where the walls and ceilings act as palettes for beautiful painted art. Stepping into the restaurant feel as if one is stepping through a time portal where one feels they are dining 151 years ago which is how old the building is. The ambiance is quite lively and energetic. Although the highlight is the space, the food is also very good. Their pretzels are served warm and fresh with a firm exterior and an interior that melts as it enters one's mouth. The soup is flavorful and healthy with not even a drop of oil pooling to the top. The schnitzel is as tender as it gets. The servers were knowledgeable and fast but it is always so busy that the restaurant should consider increasing staff as to improve customer service. Perfect location right in the heart of Marienplatz where the Glockenspiel is a stone's throw away. Overall, a wonderful restaurant to dine with great food and a beautifully historic setting!

The food was delicious, homemade, and so much comfort food. We ordered a sausage sampler, goulash, and spatzle, all of which I have no critique for. Just damn good food all around. The service was great. They were slammed so it was a little difficult getting the check, but not too bad still. All in all, I would highly recommend if you are looking for an authentic Bavarian experience and want to know how the Serfs lived back in the day.

Honestly, all of my reviews of EU have amazing service. The bruschetta was sooooo good. I could have had a few more servings of this. Honestly the highlight of the meal for me. I ordered the schnitzel, which I was soooo excited for. I mean so excited, however, it kind've fell flat. Sadly, and the crusted. well. Whatever it was, it was better than what I had by a long shot. Overall, it was a great experience, lots of fun, and maybe I had my hopes up too high for me.

Looks like everyone has too much money :-) We tried Trachtenvogel, Hungriges Herz and two more (forgot the names). No way - we would have had to wait an hour at each establishment. Cue Cafe Blue. I have been coming here since my college days. Just a short drive (or bus ride) up Lindwurmstrasse and suddenly you have room, yummy home-made jams (I love the banana), friendly service and nice decor. Looks like I am not a hipster... We enjoyed the Pinocchio breakfast and the other big one (which name I forgot) as well as two Weisswürste and two pretzels. Also several coffees and a bottle of water. 3 people were well fed and happy and we paid around €40. Win win win

I had been in for a coffee a while back and was impressed by their breakfast selection. They have something for every taste, even that of Americans who are not use to the usual German breakfast of meat, cheese and bread. We were able to find a table easy enough at 10:00 on a weekday morning. There were a few other "regulars" having coffee around the bar, but for the most part it was empty. My father ordered an egg scramble with onions, cheese, and mushrooms. He was very happy with what was placed in front of him. The proportions were enough to satisfy. Both my mother and I had the French toast. Though perhaps a little small in portion size, it was quite tasty and the maple syrup wasn't overly sweet. Service was quick, but not rushed and the prices are reasonable. My next visit was meeting a friend for dinner. It was close to where we needed to be in a couple hours and we both were in the mood for German food. It was a little more crowded with an after-work crowd there for a drink or two before heading home for the day. Not many people were eating, although it was only 18:00. They offer breakfast all day... and after having dinner I sort of wish I had gone for the breakfast again. It was all together bad. But very mediocre. We were there on a Tuesday and the daily special was pork Schnitzel. Seeing as the normal veal schnitzel was twice the price, we both ordered the pork. About 15 minutes after ordering, the waiter came back to inform us that the pork schnitzel was out and could he offer us chicken. We deliberated for a bit, but both decided to go for it. Again, mediocre at best. It was edible, but nothing fantastic to write home and rave about. The portion was quite small. Perhaps it has to do with being the daily special, but we were not impressed. On the Weekend we were back at the Cafe for a drink before going to a movie. It was around 7:30 and the place was rather empty. We had already eaten elsewhere and were happy to see a large selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. For Munich, the price of cocktails was quite reasonable. I had a White wine spritzer, which was good.... hard to get that too wrong though. My drinking companion decided on a rum and coke and was happy with what he was given. The Server was very nice and friendly. She had a great attitude and was very attentive. All-in-all, I would recommend Cafe Wiener Platz for breakfast and coffee/drinks, but cannot say I would go back here for dinner.

Came in here not knowing what to expect as a solo traveler. As a solely English speaker (sorry…read morelanguages was my weakness in school) I had a rough time communicating initially but the bartender was more than helpful (I pointed alot and he smiled). I got eveything I needed and the sausage salad (I believe) was really good for a small place like this. All in all this was a one time endeavour. Not reccomended-- there is better out there.
