This is a small little diner just off the main strip as you're coming into Chalmette, La. if you blink you'll miss it. First thing I noticed as I walked in was that it was packed with Chalmette's finest first responders. So, if the fire department, Police Department, and paramedics of this parish choose to eat here, then it must be good. My waitress was named Melissa A., she was very attentive and professional. The picture you see is the blueberry pancakes with the blueberries baked in, with a side of sausage. Went to the parish diner on 6/15/19 at 1:53 am and it was not good at all. They had a few tables and 2 waitress. I order a burger, with lettuce, tomatoes and cheese, with a side of fries. It took them just about 30 minutes to bring burger, I always look at my burger when it comes, I am so glad I did there was no tomatoes, but the worst thing there was mayo on it, I call the waitress over told her what was wrong, her reply was you ordered it with mayo,(I don't eat mayo, so why would order it) the burger was over done it looked burnt on one side and brownish on the other, I did not want them to change the bun as the mayo was on the lettuce and meat, she said do you want a new one, told her no, just get the bill together, as she did the fries came over, they were over cooked you were eating crispy there was nothing inside of the fries. So they charged me $2.99 for the fries, and $2.59 for the tea for a total of $6.11 before tip. This was my second time there and it was just like the first time. I had the brisket omelet, without the onions. It was delicious!! My new favorite. It came with French fries on it , brisket and Swiss cheese... it normally comes with onions but I ordered mine without. Our server Melissa was awesome also. read more

I have been twice now and the food was excellent both times. The service was a little slow the second visit, but they were pretty busy. The shrimp and grits were great. We had 7 at our table, ordering omelets, breakfast burritos, breakfast places, and waffles and everyone was pleased with the food. I shop in Chalmette often and never gave this place a second glance in the year I've lived around here. That was a mistake! Their kitchen knows what it's doing. Had the chicken fried chicken with garlic mashed potatoes. It was excellent. Especially the mashed potatoes. Nowadays, most diners cheap out and go with powdered potato. These were the real deal. Perfectly seasoned, garlic was noticeable but still the potato was the dominant flavor. Wonderful gravy, crispy juicy chicken. And enough for a second meal tomorrow. Dinner service has become atrocious. The wait staff is excellent, but the cook staff is horrible. Last few times I've gone there my order has been wrong in some way shape or form. I've been here many times already. The food is ON POINT!! Really modern infusions along with some traditional items. My only complaint is the kitchen is extremely slow with pushing the food out. It won't stop me from going. Just be forewarned that you can't go here if you're in a rush, be prepared to wait. BUT it is worth it. I promise. The staff is always friendly. One more thing I feel I have to note, I find that there is a bit too much foul language being used by the staff. I do NOT like that. If you have small children, be forewarned. Last Saturday I went to @parishdiner. I ordered Tabasco glaze wings and smoked brisket hash browns, eggs and toast. The smoked brisket was cold in some spots, the hash browns were pretty flavorful and the onions were good. The eggs whites were a little raw. The yolk was perfect. The toast was great. Overall I wouldn't recommend the smoked brisket hash browns. The Tabasco glazed wings. The sauce was a bit underwhelming. I don't feel it had a bold flavor. The wings were way overdone, the meat was tough. There were cold parts of the wing, the skin was a bit crispy. Overall probably one of the worst wings I have eaten. This meal definitely wasn't worth the price. read more

The food was absolutely AMAZING!!! I had the special of the day which was the brisket with macaroni and cheese and broccoli. The brisket was cooked to perfection!!! We also got the boudin egg rolls which were DELICIOUS!!! Our waiter was super nice and helped us decide what to get since we were from out of town. When they opened I loved it .Food was excellent as was the service, As time went on food fell off & staff became complacent. The time b4 for this visit we left saying we should have just grilled our own burgers . This visit we went they had fox news on, food was bad & waitress on automatic pilot, We were ready to leave b4 for the mediocre food arrived . Who wants to have dinner watching screaming newscasters ? It doesn't make for an inviting relaxing meal . I don't care what any ones politics are just don't feed them to me with my meal . My experience was terrible. I understand that sometimes service will take awhile but when other customers receive their food before yours and when questioned about it you are told that they dont know the method to the cooks madness well there absolutely no excuse for that. Stopped in while in the area fishing. Got the shrimp and grits. My buddies all got breakfast items such as eggs, sausage, grits, and ham. Everything was great, much better than a chain place and the shrimp and grits were really, really good. The waitress was sweet and the food was out in a hurry.
