Parish Brewing is hands down one of the best breweries I've been to. The beer is flat out amazing. I had a Super Tropics for $8 and a Dr. Juice for $6, and both were worth every penny. Super Tropics was loaded with bright tropical flavors and finished clean, while Dr. Juice was refreshing, easy to drink, and full of character. The crew behind the bar makes the experience even better. They're friendly, quick, and know their beer. You can tell they enjoy what they do and it shows in the way they take care of customers. Between New Orleans and Houston there is a heaven-like oasis...and it is called Parish Brewing Company. It just so happens that a few years back when I was living in Houston, a local watering hole started to promote a beer (on tap) named Ghost in the Machine. Well...I fell in love with it. If you like a good hazy IPA, this one is hard to beat. I highly recommend you stop in and try a flight of their different beers. Their Brain Cake beer is also amazing, and very hard to find. Took a little trip to the brewery. Starting to realize that Parish is really my favorite brewery due to their selections that target women beer drinkers. They got me. We also got there in time to take the tour which is about 45 mins to an hour and got to learn some interesting things. The only depression is finding a beer you like and it's on rotation. Staff didn't seem too interested but it didn't bother me too much but saw how it could affect some experiences. Clean space though and great beer. Can't wait for them to expand. read more

It's funny how the " bigger " brewing companies seem to have the smaller ( less nice ) places . Place was small , no food unless they have a truck that day and they only have trucks Thursday-Saturday which was disappointing because this particular town has basically nothing . We searched for food and found nothing open . My husband and I both got a flight - they were all meh besides one I really liked and of course that one they did not have canned . I ended up getting a full pour of my fav and their glasses are pretty amazing - basically fancy wine- beer glasses * I approve * The people working were friendly enough , bathrooms were nothing special but they were clean ! Finally got to visit the tap room. Worth a visit if near the area. We hit in on the drive between Lafayette and New Orleans so an easy 8 mile out of the way worthy stop. They have a nice tasting room, clean restrooms and air conditioned. They sell cans to go as well as some crowlers and some brewery only taps. The hey have soda water and some other cans but doesn't appear to have much other snack items. Possibly food trucks on weekends or holidays. The beer is probably Louisiana's best - so definitely worth consideration if you have a car or are in the area. read more

It was quite the drive from I-10, but I have wanted to visit this awesome brewery for a couple of years. They have one of my favorite beers - Reve Coffee Stout. It and Fairhope Judge Roy Bean are the two best Coffee Stouts in America. I was shocked to drive back into a little industrial area to see a small, neat little taproom. Full of people, tvs and of course beer, I sat at the bar and samples some imperial stouts, but ordered only the Reve. It is SO good. The bottled Reve is good, but the draft here is fantastic. I can now say I have been here. I was surprised to learn that they don't sell as much Reve to distributors because restaurants are not big on carrying stouts. It's a damn shame because this beer is so damn good. Onto Lake Charles, I need to win some money at the casino! read more

I think that one of the greatest gifts the 2010's gave us was the emergence of the local microbrewery with a great tap room. Such places proliferate now. Discovering them in new towns is one of my favorite parts of travel. Parish is such a local gem in Broussard, the fine "suburb" of Lafayette, LA. Parish has the essentials: memorable atmosphere, catchy beer names, a strong local following, plenty of room inside and out, and above all, great brews. For me personally, the acid test of a truly great microbrewery is a solid core offering paired with the ability to titillate with both sours and stouts, especially barrel-aged stouts. Both are tricky, and each brings a niche crowd with strong loyalty. Parish crushed on all fronts. Having mere minutes for a visit, we told ourselves we weren't going to drink. But, I (BA Stout guy) was inexplicably drawn to try Maple Shade, a bourbon barrel aged masterpiece refermented on Vermont maple syrup and finished on Rêve coffee, a local roastery. This thick, creamy urn of syrupy darkness was perfectly balanced, a boozy sweetness washed with coffee bitter. Sadly, I had to order a short 5oz pour, as we had a 7 hour drive ahead of us. She (the Sours fan) tried Mango Mochi, a hazy orange-amber potion that was not as citrus-potent as some sours, but broke with a fruity sweetness that didn't overwhelm the hoppy undertones necessary for a sour beer to taste like a beer. Again, perfectly balanced and refreshing. An ideal summer beer for the sour lover. Drinks were poured in a branded balloon glass, marked on one side with the oz measure and providing a brandy-like swirling experience to let the brew breathe. The room was brightly colorful, artsy, and lively on a Monday afternoon. The bartenders were helpful and knowledgeable about the beers and the history of the brewery. Broussard is lucky to have this place. If you're passing through on Highway 90 E, you should 100% stop here. We bought a tee shirt and vowed to return! read more

Parish Brewing Company was a nice find! Steve and I had three of their beers which we really liked! We started off with two of their Berlinerweise beers from their Sips series. Parish Sunrise was the first one we had from that series. It involved mango and passion fruit which made a pretty good fruited beer but in the end of everything we found the next beer in the Sips series to be our favorite for the entire beer drinking experience. The Pinot Noir Grape and Black Currant was the beer Steve and I both fell in love with immediately. It had a wonderful tart and cherry flavor which we really liked a lot! Definitely recommend getting this one if you can! Next up we shifted beer styles completely and got the Ghost in the Machine. It is definitely a solid IPA and appears to be a good and popular seller for the brewery but our fondness lies towards that Pinot Grape and Black Currant beer. I was kind of like a kid in a candy store with their t shirt merchandise as I really liked the designs and bought several shirts. We finally took the 3 hour trek down to Parish to visit. It was totally worth the trip! We arrived and they were already pretty busy, just one hour into service. They had some cute outdoor tables with umbrellas, but I had to sit inside... because the vibe inside was so good. When you walk in you are greeted with a bright, neon mural across the entire back wall. There's also a lot of merch to browse! There were a lot of bar seats, as well as tables. The decor was great. Best part... they allow dogs inside! They were SO accommodating to our 2 pups and gave them lots of love. It felt so good after having them cramped up in the car with us. This was our second visit to Parish. The staff is knowledgeable but on both visits, very unfriendly. Guess you don't need to be outgoing & nice to sell beer, but I'd bet it would help. A lady from Florida came in while we were there. You could tell she was all excited about the opportunity to visit Parish. So, I was on the hunt for an elusive ghost. Ghost in the Machine Double IPA, to be exact. I'm not much of a beer drinker but someone near and dear to me is and from what I hear this has been voted the best beer in Louisiana by whoever gets to bestow that lofty title on a beer, so obviously this is a much sought after brew. Therein lies the first of a few roadblocks. First I started at the website to see where it was distributed in my area and called each store or went into them one by one. No dice. I finally got a wine store owner on the phone (who after laughing when I told him what I was searching for) who laid it on the line for me. "Yes, ma'am we do carry it when it's available. It's only brewed every so often and when it is it sells out within the hour we get it in the store. GITM fans are diehard. It is going to be like that at every place you try" Hmmm, no wonder the stuff has not make its way to Nola. It barely makes it out of the city of Lafayette. Ok, not a big deal, I'm thinking. Because I know a guy. A local store's liquor guy. I can FOR SURE get him to let me know when they are going to get a shipment and he can put one aside for me. Right?? Wrong. He tells me they only get the friggin ghost every now and again and then it's never much. Sells out in minutes he says. "Best bet? Go to the brewery. You can get it there when they have it." So, I call Parish. I explain my dilemma. Guess what? It's not ready yet. SIGH. I'm starting to think this beer can go do you know what to itself. But then I remember that it's for a very sweet beer loving rando so I solider on. Called the next day with no luck. But today! Today they had it! So I drive over there to be greeted by a full house all wanting and waiting for...you can guess what. They limit one case (6 four packs) per person and that's a good thing. Because at this point I'm like that crazy parent trying to get the last very hard to get toy of the year at Christmas for my kid. I will cut you if you don't hand over that last case of beer. The beer is absolutely outstanding and the prices are great. The cane brake was our favorite. We also enjoyed the Abbey Reserve. I'm torn on how to rate Parish Brewing Company. Am I rating their beer? If so I'd easily give it 5 starts as Ghost, Vert and Canebrake are among my favs. Am I rating the brewpub and tour? If so I'd give it 3 stars. Therefore I split the difference and give it 4 stars. Parish Brewing is located in Broussard, LA on a street full of pre-fabricated metal warehouse buildings that all look the same. Parish is located in 2 of these warehouses that are right next door to each other. You walk into the corner building where the tasting room/brew pub is. There are a few picnic tables outside but in the middle of July, your sweat will smell like hops before you finish your first Ghost in the Machine. The brew pub/bar area is very small. The bar has 10-12 bar stools and there are 3-4 high top tables. That's simply not enough for the weekend crowds. The bar itself doesn't have a list on the wall of all their beers and their styles like I have seen at most micro-brews. They have a few lamented menus laying around that does have that info but it took awhile to get one in my hands. They do offer flights in both 4 and 6 3-ounce pours. Of course I went with a 6 beer flight but soon realized, I had nowhere to place my flight paddle.....oooops. The beers were great. I've had Envie and Ghost several times but the Reve Coffee stout, Abbey Reserve and Grand Reserve were all new to me. The reserve beers were phenomenal! I don't like coffee so the stout wasn't my thing. The tour was similar to other brewery tours of this size that I had been on and on a hot ass day, it wasn't fun smelling hops and wheat in a humid ass warehouse. The tour guide was cool, friendly and knowledgeable. It's still hard for me to believe that every bottle of Parish beer comes from this small facility. (They have a spot in Florida that helps them with some cans and kegs, I believe he said....sorry I was finished my flight and halfway through a larger Ghost at this point). Parish makes some great beers that I really love but I think they have gotten big faster than they expected and have outgrown this spot. Time to expand that tap room so that they can accommodate those weekend crowds. read more

Parish Brewing is one of Louisiana's best craft brewers and my current favorite brewer in LA. Normally people wait until every 100 reviews to do a milestone review, but being as this is my first review of 2018, I think this is a fitting place to review. I love Parish for many reasons and think every fan of beer should make the trek to Broussard and check it out. Here's why: Location - This brewery is located down the street from my brother's old house? Why is that important to you? It's not, but it reminded me of the first time I had ever heard of Parish. Many Christmas celebrations ago I was at his house and he told me about this new brewer down the street making a beer called Canebreak.After that it seemed like Canebreak was everywhere and Parish was getting a lot of accolades. Driving up to the brewery brought back all of those memories. So let's say your brother never lived nearby. What should you expect location wise? It is a industrial area that you drive through to get there so you'll probably think your GPS sent you the wrong way. It didn't. Parish is at the end of the road on the left. Brewpub - After you park and walk in you will find a small, but well appointed brewpub serving Parish beer, selling merchandise, and filling growlers and crowlers. A chalkboard above the bar lets you know what's in stock and what isn't. I had originally intended on picking up several four and six packs of their newest concoctions, but they were cleaned out. If there is a negative, that is it. People drive from very far (I'm looking at you Houston peeps) to purchase and horde their newest releases. It is a great problem for the brewery to have, but can be an issue if you don't get there on release day. Lucky for me, I brought an ice chest and picked up a couple of 32 oz crowlers of Atticus Atlas and DDH Ghost. They must purge their crowlers with CO2 before filling because my beer was as fresh a few days later as it was straight out of the tap. Crowlers are $16 per. I also picked up a couple of Teku glasses with logos for $12 per. Tour - The tour is where I was really impressed. This tour of the brewery was the most informative and complete tours I've ever been on. Our guide was super friendly and obviously very passionate about beer. We started in the room with all of the tanks and finished in the actual canning room. Never before have I seen the actual canning line of a brewery. It was awesome. During the tour our guide explained the whole process of brewing in a way that was easy to understand. He also took the time to solicit, and answer questions, even the most ridiculous ones (Can I drive the forklift? asked by some rando). Acadiana - OK, while not technically part of the brewery, you do get the added benefit of being in one of the best areas of LA. I suggest making the trip to Parish part of a larger excursion of the area in general. Maybe stop in the Tabasco General Store for some new sauce or food. Head to New Iberia for a haircut. Drive around enjoying the cane fields, bayous, and other great scenery native to LA. That would make the trip to Parish even better. I guarantee! In closing, Parish is awesome. If you've got an envie for a great day trip, I strongly recommend including Parish on the itenerarry. read more

I've been wanting to visit Parish Brewing in Broussard for years now: Parish's Ghost in the Machine is one of the only IPAs I'll willingly drink, and their Rêve coffee stout is the best stout I've ever had. Canebrake is probably my favorite wheat beer ― except for its newer sister, Strawberry Canebrake. There wasn't a great amount of new and unusual brews on tap when I visited, but I did get to try several unique offerings. The taproom is medium-sized with a bar and both indoor and outdoor seating; the walls are covered in murals inspired by the art of some of Parish's more famous brews (Braincake, Bloom, Nova Vert, and, of course, Ghost in the Machine). It's not a fancy, "destination brewery" set-up like Abita over in Covington, nor is it a sleek, big-city taproom that's been interior designed for maximum Instagrammage. The merchandise is pretty ho-hum, and it's only worth the considerable detour for those who really want to drink great beer. But anyone who does make the trip to Parish will experience some of the best beers in America, let alone Louisiana. read more

Tasty beers Broad, well-considered selection Professional yet relaxed atmosphere On a recent guys' trip to the Lafayette area, I dropped by Parish to sample some local flavor after spotting a few of their beers on tap at a local bar earlier. This place had some fine brews, a comfortable drinking environment, friendly patrons, and knowledgeable staff. The music was good on a Friday afternoon, and an early baseball game aired (on mute) on the TV. As we walked in and settled into bar stools, one of my friends opted for the flight/sampler because he hadn't had any of Parish's selections yet, but another friend of mine and I went right for some of the beers we hadn't yet found around Lafayette, and we weren't disappointed. The Dr. Hoptagon tap handle caught my eye and I asked if it was for sale...I was assured that it was not yet (it was a prototype), but they do sell merchandise like that, as well as t-shirts, hats, and the like. The framed press clippings across from the bar made for some good reading on the advent of the brewery and its founder while we sipped some of the product. We had a couple great conversations with a fellow drinker in town from Houston, and one of the bartenders, who gave us some excellent recommendations for other spots to hit in the area. For stopping by for a quick peek on my way to pick up a buddy from the airport, my group really didn't want to leave after we got acclimated. Off the beaten path. For someone that doesn't live in the area this is definitely a little hard to find, but worth it. They have a nice selection so the various styles of beer. Myself I tend to like the darker styles. They had 4 stouts. we started with a tasting of each one and settled on the coffee stout. It had a nice coffee noise with a clean after taste. The place is cozy with some tables both inside and outside. There is a bar where you can sit. They have a small area with items to buy and cases of bottles of their beer stacked around.
