There are three higher end wine and liquor stores that I frequent in Lafayette and this one I would rates as #2 and mostly just because the one I rank as my favorite is larger. There are tons of selections in here and the staff here is helpful to fine you that perfect selection for your taste or occasion. The other nice thing Is that they are located just off of Johnston so if I'm heading to UL or up town they are close and convenient. I do also wish they were open on Sunday's so if you're having a party on Sunday, make sure to stop over on Saturday! Enjoy! read more

The staff is very helpful knowledgeable about the liquors and wines they sell. I've never seen such a variety at extremely fair prices in my life. They have a tasting once a week for selected wines and liguors. I can purchase my canadian whiskey there for 400 % cheaper than I can get at home in Canada. This is my go to destination for liquor purchases when I'm in town. read more

Great selection. Lafayette is great, in that you can get liquor almost anywhere, but often it's not very high quality stuff. Marcello's really offers you a great selection and knowledgable staff. If you're looking to start a liquor collection, I recommend coming here first. read more

We stopped in today out of curiosity while in town, running errands. I was immediately impressed by the friendly staff & great selection -- everything was laid out nicely, prices were clearly marked. There was a great variety, and I liked being able to find some of my favorite (less popular) Napa & Sonoma vineyards in the mix. The beer selection was surprisingly decent! Found a lot of what I was looking for, reasonably priced, and I always appreciate being able to buy by the bottle. I will be stopping back in whenever I'm in Lafayette! P.S. I also enjoyed their promotion of local events in the window, and did see that they had donated to Lafayette's animal rescue group for a raffle/silent auction. read more

I was shopping for wine here when Marcello himself greeted me and asked if I needed help. They have a HUGE selection of imports, and he spent a lot of time explaining the best wines that would suit my preference. The staff was friendly and I had a great experience. Me and my wife typically stop in to browse, pick up certain liquors we do not find elsewhere, and to find a bottle of wine to try that we usually do not find elsewhere. They have a large selection and a very knowledgeable staff. I choose a Cabernet Sauvignon whose place on the rack had a hand written tag stating is was a favorite of the staff. My wife was looking for a Moscato d'Asti and was greated by an individual who provided an interesting history on the types of Moscatos, which you should pick, and why you should over the other. He was informative and obviously passionate about the product being sold. This alone, along with the selection, guarantees we will frequent this business. read more

Excellent Italian Food: Half of Lafayette was at Marcello's last night because of the article that ran on the cover of the Independent this week. Needless to say seating was limited; after a 15-20 min wait, my date and I were seated in the bar area, we asked for another seat and we'd be willing to wait. Forty minutes later they had a great table for us toward the back. To make up for the wait they hostess and waiter were very apologetic and gave us an appetizer on the house. We had the Antipasta Board - a tasty variety of cheese, meats, garlic, and olives. Despite it being a very busy night, the service was excellent, and food was delicious. For entrée's I had the Palermo, which was great, and my date had Shrimp Pepate. To top it all off when the bill came they also through in our bottle of wine, gratis. They more than made up for the long wait, and I'll definitely be returning! read more

Went in to buy a bottle of Woodford reserve for a friend returning from Iraq. Jokingly asked if they gave serviceman's discount. Was told by owner I should get charged more because I was buying for a veteran. Never went back and now go to Phillipe's. Better choice , better price, better people. If the Marcello owners don't like America they can leave to Iraq and try to sell booze there, and I told them so. read more

IMHO-there are but two choices in Lafayette for good Italian, this and Antoni's Great food, great atmosphere, people who really care about quality and a wonderful experience. For romance, I'd choose Antoni's as it 's a little lower key, but you really can't go wrong with either. I almost don't want to review this restaurant as the wait times are already about 30 mins (no reservations) but this place deserves all the business it can get. read more

Marcello's is a great place. They have the best selection of beers and brewing supplies in Lafayette. They also host meetings of both the local home brewing and wine making clubs as well as club competitions and special events. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I spend so much time hanging around there I almost think of it as a second home. They carry a wide selection of wines and spirits as well as beer, and some of the high-end whiskeys that I've never seen anywhere else. All-in-all a great place to be! read more

I can just say I have shopped here many times and it has usually been a good experience. I am a bourbon guy and have found some good bourbons here in the past. I have always found them to be higher price but convenient. The other day I stopped by because I was passing by and needed some bourbon for the weekend. It was early in the day and I was still working. I looked around the coolers for a bottle of water and could not find any, I went to get a bottle of Four Roses small batch and there was none so I picked up my old standby Knob Creek although I could have gotten it next door at Walgreen's cheaper. I asked the clerk if they sold bottled water and he got smart with me explaining this was a booze store. No shit! But would it kill you to have some water available? What a dick! I will buy my bourbon elswhere from now on. read more
