Review of Paris Pressley and TrustDALE: A Serious Warning About Negligence
I am writing this to warn others about my deeply disappointing and costly experience with Paris Pressley, a home inspector endorsed by TrustDALE. As a homeowner, I relied on his impressive list of credentials and TrustDALE's endorsement, expecting a thorough and professional inspection. Instead, what I received was a negligent and substandard inspection that failed to identify critical issues, leaving me with over $10,000 in unexpected repair costs.
Paris Pressley's Negligence
1. False Confidence from His Credentials:
Mr. Pressley holds numerous certifications, including InterNACHI, ASHI, ICC, and others. These credentials led me to believe I was hiring a highly qualified professional who would provide a top-notch inspection. However, after having actual professionals such as roofing companies and contractors evaluate my property, it became clear that many of his findings were either incomplete, inaccurate, or severely downplayed.
2. Roof Neglect and Inadequate Inspection:
Mr. Pressley conducted only a ground-level visual inspection of the roof, even though he noted potential issues like vent flashing defects and areas prone to leaks. He failed to take the necessary steps, such as using a ladder or climbing onto the roof, to properly assess its condition. His inadequate inspection missed critical issues that professionals later identified, including improper flashing and shingle damage that have since caused significant water intrusion.
3. Downplaying Water Damage:
While he did call out water damage at the front door and interior flooring, his report made assumptions that downplayed the severity of the issue, suggesting it was minor or historical. In reality, the water damage was active and extensive, requiring costly repairs. His lack of thorough investigation into the source of the water intrusion demonstrated negligence, leaving me to deal with escalating repair costs.
4. Misleading Assessment of Dead Trees:
The report mentioned dead tree limbs but failed to recommend consulting a specialist or arborist. This minimized the issue, resulting in a dangerous situation and much higher costs to address the problem properly.
TrustDALE's Responsibility
As a consumer, I trusted TrustDALE's endorsement, believing their vetting process ensured the professionals they recommend were competent and reliable. Mr. Pressley's credentials, combined with TrustDALE's endorsement, gave me false confidence in his abilities. However, his negligence, incomplete inspections, and failure to adhere to professional standards show that neither he nor TrustDALE upheld the quality they claim to provide.
A Consumer Warning
This inspection failed to meet even the most basic standards of professionalism and thoroughness. Mr. Pressley's negligence, combined with TrustDALE's lack of enforcement and accountability, has left me with over $10,000 in repairs and significant emotional distress. If you are considering hiring a professional endorsed by TrustDALE or working with Mr. Pressley, I urge you to think twice. Their promises of quality assurance and top-notch service do not align with the reality I experienced.
