I loved how easy scheduling an appointment was through their website. I looked through the reviews on here and based on who was available, I booked Emily with less than 48 hours notice. I got confirmation promptly. You do have to sign a liability waiver and pre-pay, but it's pretty straightforward what is and isn't included. Emily arrived promptly on time and wore a mask throughout the inspection as a COVID pre-caution. She is very thorough and professional. The inspection went quicker than expected, but she was very patient in answering my questions. She is extremely knowledgable about construction, codes, and quickly caught onto the areas where I needed her information to help us make decisions. I really appreciate the fact that I got the full report emailed via PDF in less than 24 hours. The report is easy to read, full of pictures and call-outs, has appropriate categories, and the level of detail addressed our concerns buying a well-loved home that has been around longer than me. Emily is responsive and I appreciate her emphasizing her availability to go over the report or our questions anytime. I would highly recommend Building Knowledge and would definitely seek-out Emily's availability if you are looking for inspections in the Atlanta Metropolitan Area. read more

Worst and least useful home inspection report that we've ever received. The first report consisted of a PDF attachment and a link a completely different PDF file. The PDF attachment listed two "concerns" involving smoke and carbon monoxide detectors but no other information--most importantly, no discussion positive or negative of any of the other parts of the home that were inspected. The linked attachment listed three other concerns and noted that the HVAC couldn't be tested because of the cold weather--again, no discussion of any other parts of the home. We followed up with the inspector, who indicated that there was an issue with the computer system that generated the reports. A day later (as the due diligence period is ticking), the inspector posted a longer report. The report was missing some of the items from the first report, so ANOTHER report was posted. However, the final report mostly added pictures with almost no extra text. This is the first home purchase where we have not been able to accompany the inspector, and we really regret it. The reports were not up to a professional standard, and I STRONGLY recommend looking elsewhere. read more

If you need to get an inspection done you have to go with Building Knowledge and request Adam Cashin, he pays so much attention to every little detail within the house, he takes his time to check EVERYTHING and then you get the report super quickly. We've had two inspections done by him and we can't recommend him enough read more

We had Adam and Building Knowledge do our home inspection and couldn't be happier with them! Adam was a fantastic communicator who walked us through everything before and after. He made us feel comfortable about asking questions and was clear with all of his findings. It was evident that this is a great company who is passionate about making sure people understand what they are getting in their home purchase. I will confidently recommend Adam to anyone. Thanks! read more

I was really impressed with Adam, he was really thorough and professional. I was really impressed with his knowledge of home construction. He pointed out several details during the inspection and talked me through how to address the issues if I bought the house. Overall very positive experience! read more

We were recommended Adam by a friend and we are SO glad we had him come to our home. We were considering selling or keeping the house depending on what the results would be and Adam was so thorough and made us feel much better about our property. He was completely fine with my husband staying with him the entire time to see the ins and outs of the house and also explained everything he saw to my husband. We really couldn't be happier with Adams service! When we go to purchase a second property he's going to be on our list of people to call. read more

My wife and I has used Building Knowledge twice now for our home inspection and have loved the experience! We worked with Adam Cashin and he was very thorough. He also was a pleasure to be around! He let me follow him around during the entire inspection and provided great knowledge to help educate me about my home. I highly recommend this company and specifically Adam. read more

This review is almost a year overdue but it is still worth leaving. My family and I bought our very first home last July and had a wonderful experience with Building Knowledge completing not just a home inspection, but also testing for radon and airborne mold (we were overly cautious parents too) and a re-inspection to have peace of mind once issues found at the initial inspection were corrected by the previous home owner. We worked primarily with Emily, who is prompt and thorough. I had many questions and concerns and she was always available to address them. With great empathy, I might add! I also communicated via email with Greg, who helped us quite a bit with water pooling outside our HVAC unit. Our reports came to us quickly and brimming with all the details a home owner could want. There were so many moving parts in the home-buying process that I often felt dazed and overwhelmed but having Building Knowledge inspect our home to such a fine degree eased my anxiety massively. I highly recommend this company for building inspection! read more

I really wanted to write a good review for this company because our inspector seemed like a stand-up guy. I read the report multiple times before buying our house just to be completely sure we wouldn't have to shell out a lot of money after closing but it hasn't really been the case. Unfortunately, we've found some issues with our roof and deck not listed on our report after purchasing our house which is going to cost a significant amount to repair. We had a contractor come out to update the deck to bring it up to code per the report. Our contractor pointed out that there were major portions of rotting wood patched with some kind of wood filler. On the roof side, the same contractor pointed out that we had some sagging in spots which he said was likely due to rotted board. He pulled out a ladder and pulled up the shingles exposing the rotted wood underneath. The wood was practically dust. Furthermore, there are other sags of the roof where the boards underneath aren't fixed to the frame of the house. There were some other smaller things he missed like the garage door mounted to MDF which was warping due to water and the basement electrical/kitchen electrical being incorrectly wired but the roof and the deck are the biggest items. Based on the other reviews, it seems like they are usually pretty thorough. Maybe we were just unlucky but it still sucks that we had to re-do our deck and will probably have to replace our roof in the near future. read more

Tim with Cingo Home / Building Knowledge was the most helpful! He did the inspection on both the home that we are selling and the home that we are purchasing. His reports are thorough, informative, and helps the client understand detailed items that need to be addressed in an orderly fashion. I would recommend him and this company and use them again in the future! Thanks Tim! read more

This is the best home inspector you can get in Atlanta! I bought a condominium unit just last year and just a couple of months after I moved in - the HOA announced that there is water damage in the building and there will be a special assessment. The assessment was too much that we can handle so we made a decision to cut the loss and sell the unit. With this experience, we went out of our way to search as well as get recommendations for home inspectors that have the experience and knowledge to look beyond the home itself for our town home purchase. One of my best friends recommended Jack from building knowledge. I am so glad I found Jack! He was extremely knowledgeable and experienced about building materials, structure, foundation, roofing, basically everything about a house. He educated us about the building materials, structure, as well as the tell tale signs if there indeed was a structural issue. Jack also used to be a building quality inspector and I was truly so glad to have somebody with his background look at the home for me. He is also so professional and friendly, I couldn't have asked for a much better home inspector. After the experience I had with Jack, I truly wished I had engaged building knowledge when I purchased the condominium. Even my property agent acknowledged that Building knowledge is one of the very very few home inspection companies in Atlanta that even has the ability to do building/ structural inspection as part of a home inspection process. I really also have to give kudos to how easy is it to navigate their website as well as browse through the availability of the home inspectors and book and appointment. Definitely book Jack Semones if he has availability! read more

This is an excellent building inspection company. For my inspection, I went under contract for a property Monday afternoon. The inspection was quickly scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. The inspection went as planned and the full inspection report was emailed to me by Tuesday evening. The home inspector arrived on time for the appointment and provided helpful and detailed commentary about all aspects of the house. These details were also documented in the report that arrived later that same day. After the inspection, I called the inspector a couple of times to follow up on a few items and he was responsive and helpful over the phone. I really appreciated the fast, high quality, and helpful service provided by Building Knowledge and would recommend them to anyone who needs to hire a building inspector for a house under contract. read more

Contacted by Building K: Was able to review more into the contract and its stipulations; which was my biggest reason of writing this review "While we attempt to report any observations relative to rodents, this is beyond the standards of practice of ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors), and specifically excluded in our agreement with you." So with that alone I am changing my review to include a star. (Will update this as I get more in touch with BK) Edited as per response to Greg; from building knowledge. You're welcome to look up my inspection, R****, Ormewood property about 9 months ago. Hired a wildlife personnel after buying the house, just to be told the house was infested, again; take it with a grain of salt. I stayed throughout the whole inspection, yet I wasn't given much more information besides the basic things such as: "The flashing is missing, the cover on the outlet is missing, the switch doesn't work. I found out holes on the walls, after the inspection was written, without being even being stated on the report. I do remember clearly the inspector needed to leave early that day due to a personal event (so please don't add that I didn't wish to stay around). Tried to leave general comments, Greg; need details, just call. Original; Don't wish to mess up the perfect score, but I feel like I must. FYI please sit down with your inspector and really understand the report with them. I had an amazing time with my Inspector they were knowledgeable on many aspects of the home buying report. I used her services 3 times about 1300$ on reports, first home & second home was advised on walking away, and so I did. The third home purchased on last May or June, was great or so I thought; most things were on the right place. Maybe the house was staged too good to notice? Now where the things lie; few weeks after purchasing and moving in, I found a few disturbing things. The house had a MOUSE problem, many places were open and only one or two were stated on the report. The attic insulation was awfully done, and feces was covered by a lightly new blanket of insulation. Ductwork was really badly done. Chimney, just a quick tip could've saved me from unwanted visitors. I really wish the report could be done right away and have the inspector walk you through all the findings, instead of getting it by email, to then go on an easter egg hunt. Once again and this was true; many things you will not be able to see on a report, not until you live in the home. Sadly, now these little things are adding up to more than I had hoped for. read more

I've had several home inspectors over the years but none compare to the level of service I was provided with by Duane at building knowledge. His level of thoroughness and professionalism is outstanding and he did a great job giving us the information we need to make a very informed decision on the home. Thanks Building Knowledge! read more

A very funny and knowledgable inspector! Would definitely use again, but hopefully I won't want to move any time soon!

I can't really add anything extra to the phenomenal things already said about Building Knowledge and in particular Adam Goldner. Adam was wonderful. He was passionate/enthusiastic, meticulous, enjoyed educating as he inspected, and was prompt with both the appointment and the report which turned around within 24 hours as promised. The report was detailed and incredibly helpful on numerous levels, including showing me simply where things are and what things do. I would enthusiastically recommend these folks! Awesome! read more

I'm a first time home buyer and definitely not handy, and I can't imagine a better experience. The home inspection was thorough. The inspector took time to walk me through the house, explain things, and answer questions as he conducted the inspection. The report is organized and easy to understand, even though I have very limited background knowledge. And the inspector has been really helpful and willing to answer follow up questions. read more

Being from out of state having a good inspection company was important to my wife and myself. Adam and the team of environmental inspectors were not only professional, but very thorough and knowledgeable. They made sure to take their time inspection every aspect of the house and when completed reviewed and highlighted what they saw. The report was not only detailed but container a number of images to make referencing the notes much easier to follow. I couldn't have been happier with Adam and Building Knowledge. Really great customer service. Greg is really helpful, as are the inspectors who came out to the house to inspect. They give good detailed notes with clear photos (with arrows pointing to specific things in the photos) in the reports. Also, while I was at the house, the inspectors were very thorough about explaining things to me about the repairs needed. I had a very knowledgable inspector named Harry, and an asbestos inspector named Duane. Both were very nice guys who explained things to me in layman's terms. Even after the inspection, they've been great at communication and answering follow up questions. read more

I would give 10 stars if I could! Greg performed both the inspection on our full-time home (back in 2011) and recently completed an inspection on a mountain house we are about to buy. He is incredibly knowledgeable, thorough and was patient as we asked our questions. Many inspectors want you to leave them alone as they inspect the house- not Greg! He encourages you to be a part of the process, to ask questions and to learn the house through an expert's eyes. Lastly, he went above and beyond to research an issue found on our house. He spoke with a lab director and a water filtration person on our behalf and provided us their contact information. We are so grateful we had Greg do our inspection. He is top notch. I have no hesitation in recommending him 100%. read more

I'm purchasing my first home and I just wanted to say that Adam Cashin was great! His knowledge and great sense of humor put my mind at ease. The inspection was thorough all the way down to escutcheon plates under the sink. He had my inspection in my email less than 12 hours later. I felt even more confident about my purchase after leaving the inspection. I also had difficulty finding the email, but Natalie in the office was so very patient in helping me find it. At first I was a little skeptical about the price, but I feel it was definitely worth it! Thanks so much Adam! read more

The inspection we received was not sufficient and missed several key items that we subsequently had to fix shortly after purchasing the property. After bringing to Greg's attention (owner of Building Knowledge), he proceeded to tell me I was wrong and they caught everything. I tried to work with them, but was very disappointed in how they handled the situation. Terrible customer service. I would highly recommend finding another inspector in the Atlanta area. read more

These guys are great, I highly recommend them. I worked with a guy named Jack. He was on time and very well-prepared. He walked me through everything he was going to be doing and listened closely to the items I asked him to take note of. He had a wealth of knowledge on every aspect of home-building, repairs, roofing, HVAC, building materials, electrical wiring, the neighborhood even the landscaping. His report was on-time, easy-to-follow, descriptive (including great pictures of everything he reviewed), and most of all thorough. He left no stone un-turned. I have total confidence in the house now thanks to his inspection. Jack was also very likable and easy to converse with. Go with them, it will be the easiest part of the otherwise difficult home purchasing process. read more

Do not use Adam Cashin. He is very unprofessional. He has a lump in his arm and asked me to touch it multiple times and I said no repeatedly... He sent us the wrong report, never returns our phone calls and was terrible communicating via email. My realtor was referred to use Building Knowledge and my realtor will never let her future clients use this company again. read more

It was a great experience and I would recommend David to any home-buyer... especially a first time one like us! read more

Do not use this company. Though initially we were pleased with our interactions with Building Knowledge, we found ourselves facing thousands of dollars in urgent electrical repairs a month after we moved into our home. We were blindsided because the report either missed these issues altogether or indicated that they were upgrades that could be made, but not urgent issues. Moreover, when we approached Building Knowledge with this situation they were defensive, demeaning and unwilling to work with us or even acknowledge any shortcomings on their part. Choose a different company for your home inspection. read more

Amazing service. These guys are pros and look at the home with a very keen eye. Tony did the inspection for us and he was very thorough and meticulous. To maximize our due diligence, he came in and inspected the house on Memorial Day. He encouraged questions and taught me about the place. He inspected the roof and the crawl space, which I've heard a lot of inspectors shy away from doing. His report was promptly completed and I was able to make an educated decision of what I was getting into because of his expertise. I would recommend Building Knowledge to anyone interested in getting home inspection, and in particular, I will be requesting Tony for our next home inspection. read more

I had a inspection of a home I am purchasing in Woodstock. Jack was my inspector. Really nice guy and had background in building homes, so he knew what he was talking about. Building Knowledge came out to inspect a home we were looking at based on a referral from our real estate agent. Jack was extremely helpful and informative on all issues ranging from electrical to mold issues. He ended up giving us a long list of tips that were invaluable in helping us make a decision to move forward with the home and also in convincing the previous owner that it was necessary to fix the issues. He also took the time to explain several home improvement issues that we plan on doing on our own. Overall, we could not have hoped for better service and it is likely that they ended up saving us thousands in home repairs. Thanks so much! read more

Top notch professional services, give a lot of details on all my questions and explained everything during the home inspection process.

Building Knowledge's Woohoo rating is well deserved. If you read the other's ratings, you can also tell that all the inspectors are good. But I am glad I got Harry. He was very thorough and very forth coming on what were major problems and what were minor so I knew exactly how to respond to the seller. Harry also took time to explain all the findings and what would happen if not addressed and even in some cases, the best way to abate the problem. I'm sure all the other inspectors are great but I highly recommend asking for Harry. One area of improvement is that the final report was a couple days late. But my realtor commented that is not unusual. read more

Changed review back. Owner acknowledged the first inspector did miss items when the second inspector came and acknowledged. These cost me extra money to fix since I couldnt ask the seller. Foundational issues, open cracks on the side of the house, the deck not having been attached to my house, possible permit violations, visible mold, etc. No outward offerings of compensation since I now have a "fixer upper" which is the reason that you hire a home inspection company. Granted according to the law I could sue, but it's not worth it at this point since I have no reason to contact them again. If you use them ask for Roland (second inspector), if they send Mark call another inspection company. read more
