Deep fried tofu with peanut sauce- delicious
Sarah D.

Absolutely stunning food. Everything is made with love from scratch. The most delicious curry I have ever had, the tofu was stunning, my companion has the green curry which was absolutely delicious. Doesn't serve alcohol but if you ask politely you might be able to bring your own wine. Service was impeccable, restaurant is lovely. I will eat here again whenever possible.

Thai soup which was great for a rainy day.

Stopped here for dinner and it was delicious! Simple menu, but everything was very good. We had the emerald curry(green curry), black pepper beef with veggies stir fry, pad see noddles, Thai noddle soup & massaman curry. We asked for non-spicy. Very friendly waitress, owner & cook.

When we turned into the little motel parking lot we had no idea what to expect. The lights in the restaurant were very dim but the sign flashed open so we scurried in and what an absolute treat this was. Honestly, I find curry a hit or miss at most places and this was phenomenal. I got the extra spicy red chicken curry with extra spring rolls as an appetizer and both had so much flavour. The spring rolls were fresh and perfectly crunchy and the red curry was creamy and spicy. Delicious! The pad Thai was spicy and definitely had a nice flavour to it. We read the reviews prior to going and never expected the food to be THAT good. Our server was so kind and helpful - checking in but giving us our space and never rushed us. We will definitely be back!

V&E’s Chopsticks - Spicy coconut veg with tofu

V&E’s Chopsticks

Chinese food in Canada these days is probably most well-known as takeout food. Easy, convenient and…read moretasty. But it, like most food, is better at the source, with the temperatures and textures not suffering from the time waiting for pick-up and the drive to your front door. This is what brought my wife and I to eat at V&E Chopsticks. Located on Westville Road, it's in what I'm sure myself and everyone else in the county who have been here more than a couple years will call 'the old Dragon Bowl' for decades to come. We focused on the Chinese portion of the menu, which dominates the options, saving their Thai food for another time. Our order was way more than needed for two people, but we wanted to try as much as we could, and I even came prepared with my own containers for the inevitable leftovers. I've always been a fan of the thick noodles in Shanghai noodles, so that was a easy choice when I spotted it. Ginger beef seemed like an appropriate choice while we were dining in, as the light coating on the beef would have a chance to shine. Lemon chicken was in the same vein as the ginger beef, but with a full, proper batter that normally suffers greatly as takeout. For the last of our mains, we went with the spicy coconut vegetables, to add a semblance of balance to our meal. The Shanghai noodles didn't disappoint, with its thick, pleasantly chewy noodles, plentiful cha siu (BBQ pork) and a surprise hit of spicy heat (but not too much, don't you worry your small-town palate). An assortment of tender-crisp veg rounded out the dish nicely. I appreciated the crispness of the battered chicken in the lemon chicken, but the sauce in these types of North American-ized Chinese food are too sweet for my tastes. Amp up the lemon and acidity for balance, and then you'd have a winner. The ginger beef's light crispness lasted for a bit before succumbing to the lightly sweet, and soy-based sauce. It of course had a prominent note of ginger, but none of the burn that often comes with it. The spicy coconut vegetables were a bright mix of veg and tofu in easily-chopsticked chunks, and a thin coconut sauce. Don't let the 'spicy' label scare you off, you're in no danger of breathing fire in a Loony Tunes-esque manner. Honestly, I would have preferred more heat and a more prominent coconut flavour, but it was still a satisfying dish, nonetheless. A bowl of steamed rice lasted the two of us for the meal. V&E Chopsticks is putting out some solid Chinese food, and deserves a nod for bringing Thai food to New Glasgow as well.

And we just enjoyed a delicious meal, which we picked up from V & E'c chopsticks restaurant on…read moreFather's Day. Everything was very tasty... We had fried rice, lemon, chicken, Almond, chicken,, Mongolian beef, possibly the best sweet-and-sour chicken balls in Pictou County. Chicken balls are solid chicken with just the right amount of batter on them. We have probably ordered 20 or 25 times from V&E's restaurant and will continue to do so. Keep up the fine work portions are a i'm very... generous size.

I called at different times they were open on two different days. No answer. We were able to get a table and hostess was extremely friendly. She even brought me a free miso soup as my husband got one with his sushi order. He said sushi was the best he ever has had. My udon soup was not so good. Three soggy, skinny shrimp tempura on top of a huge bowl of noodles and broth (expensive, too). Nothing else in the soup but some onion slices. Was not great. Why put fried tempura shrimp in a soup? They were so soggy they did not taste good. They did bring my husband a dessert on the house with a sparkler in it. They were all incredibly friendly. Will go again, but won't have udon soup.

We had the jeyuk bokkeum, which was a very generous sized portion and really flavorful grilled pork with super fresh romaine leaves, chili paste and a kimchi ban chan, and shrimp udon soup, with springy udon noodles, yummy soup base and delish shrimp tempura. The other dishes being ordered around us, like the jajangmyeon, looked fabulous also. The restaurant was warm and welcoming on a damp, chilly night and the staff was super friendly and welcoming.

Beyond Pho - Spicy lemongrass noodle soup

Service is friendly, but slow; they seem to be constantly distracted and a little confused. Decor was really nice and the portion size is big. The pricing was a bit high, but the broth for both the pho and special lemongrass was tasty and there was plenty of stuff in the noodles. Egg rolls were nice and crispy, but not anything super special. Fun gimmick where the robot delivers water and food, and they offer free noodles if your bowl is marked. If we were in town again, we'd come back for sure.

I ordered the Pad Thai. It was 90% straight round noodles saturated with a sweet and sour sauce and not much else. I found it inedible. I informed the waitress that I did not like the dish. She started gaslighting me! She said this was Pad Thai because they put Pad Thai sauce on the noodles, which is how it is always served. I grew up in the Boston area. I have eaten at many world-class Thai restaurants, and none have served a Pad Thai dish remotely like this. The waitress refused to take back the dish and charged me 70% of the price for a dish I could not eat. I'll never return.
