Curry poutine $8 - fresh cut fries with chana coconut curry sauce, spicy aioli, and scallions, DELICIOUS
    Rachel B.

Hop on over Hopyard is very quickly becoming one of my favourite relaxed night scenes to hangout, grab a local brew, and some absolutely delicious food from their ever rotating menu! It is such a cozy hidden gem for food in downtown Charlottetown with one of the most comprehensive craft beer collections on the island (meaning you can get alllll the best ones in ONE place). Amongst the buzz of the front room, the vinyl selection, or maybe the cheers of Wednesday trivia, head chef Alyssa and the team is working magic in the kitchen! The menu is a fashion style and always changing where each menu is themed including options for everyone from veg centric, to meaty goodness, to vegan and GF. International flavours meet comfort food with an energetic twists from the BEST vegan Chana masala fries one could hop for to a mustard Mac & cheese, to the breakfast style poutine or a blueberry grilled cheese! You truly never know what you are gonna get but the tasting menu is fantastic and you will not be disappointed! Chase it all down with a brew (or a few) and enjoy the Hopyard magic! Food, drinks, service, atmosphere is all spot on, 100000% recommend!

Classic Hopyard - corn dog drizzled with mayo, butter, etc.

Hopyard opened in 2016 and quickly became a fave spot to hang, even though I'm not a beer drinker. The food was interesting, the atmosphere fun and friendly, Chef Jane Crawford was a visionary, and she would often come out and chat with customers... when they added brunch it was just WOWWW! Since then, they opened a Halifax location in 2018, and Chef Jane relocated with it. She has since moved on. So there was at least one change in chef, but that wasn't the moment it started to slide for me. Yes, the menu still rotates, but now it all tastes the same. Too much mayo, drizzled butter, candied and fried everything... uninspired use of Jalapeno, chili, hot peppers... I suppose it's good drunk people food, and maybe that's the aim, but a little variety would be nice. Something not smothered with sauce until it becomes mush... something fresh tasting. I will add here that I'm a pescatarian, so perhaps the meat dishes are different, but I'm at the point where I never order food. Also, as previously mentioned, I'm not a beer drinker, so maybe I'm missing the pairing of food + beer that makes these menus work. It's also worth noting that it is QUITE A FEAT to have a menu that changes every two weeks -- nowhere else on the Island does this, as far as I know, and I applaud both the initiative and execution - they've kept it up for 6+ years and that's awesome. It's just not food to my taste. Their prices are also incredible, which is a feat, and I suspect key to their success. I think restauranteurs are starting to realize that huge portions are not the only path to the hearts of Charlottetownies. We love small plates and the chance to share a bunch of different dishes! Hopyard remains an awesome place to get together for a drink and hang with great (interactive) music and the widest selection of craft beer on the Island. Finally, PLEASE BRING BACK BRUNCH! I could deal with not liking the rest of the food because the incredibly delicious brunch proved the kitchen was versatile and talented. Come back, culinary energy! The owners are prepping another establishment to open summer 2022 - an Italian resto called "Abbiocco" a few doors down

Dessert was as great as the dinner items. I love this place!

Easy five star here. The beer was great. The food was great. The dessert was great. I mean, the restaurant scored a hat trick right there. I'd tell you what to get, but they change the menu every two weeks. I don't know how they keep it up. Truly impressive. But, I would recommend that you do what I did...I just told the server to bring me her personal favorite. She brought out some of the best crab cakes I've ever had. Served on a bed of beans. Seemed odd at first, but trust me when I say these cats are professionals. Just go with what they do, as they know what they're doing. The crab cake/bean combo went together like it was always meant to be that way. Fantastic. We went with the blueberry pie dessert and it was awesome as well. If you're in the area, definitely stop by. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Two thumbs up. Way up.

    Sample menu but it changes!

What a fun little spot... records on the walls, hanging from the ceiling, & available to spin...great local beer & cider...& an amazing choice of $8 tapas that change every two weeks! We enjoyed our stop into the Hopyard on a recent trip to Charlottetown. The menu was fun...& the food was bursting with flavour! We had the broccoli & the dumplings...just perfectly crafted and delicious! We ate from menu #65 Beer - Food - Vinyl... great combination! Check it out if you are in Charlottetown...& I hear they have a location opening in Halifax soon too!

Really enjoyed the food and drinks and were amazed at the bill: two drinks, 3 plates (Mac n cheese, broccoli bombs and chicken/waffles) - $40! And we were full! Spacious. Clean. Lots of things to look at - the drink menu, the vinyl covers on the walls, the records on the floor, the art. Good music - I didn't read up on what's up with the vinyl but it is on their website. The music played tonight, we enjoyed. A greeter gets you seated - fantastic! Especially, when you are unfamiliar with the place, and when it's quite busy, like tonight, they get you in and seated. Thanks! We liked that the server had all drinks listed on a portable blackboard so you didn't have to strain your neck and eyes looking on the tap wall. 5 Stars: We always enjoy these types of places (Stillwells, Battery Park, etc). The HopYard: best execution IMHO.

Enjoying a drink after a long drive

Not to mention a great little menu that is affordable, yummy, and accommodating to many dietary needs like vegan or GF. 1911 is in the basement of an old jail and has an artsy eclectic vibe, low key mood, and kind of fun speakeasy energy to it. The service is very friendly (albeit can be a tad slow in busy hours) but always with a smile. Great hours open M-Th 8am -9pm, F 8am -10pm, Sat 9am-10pm, Sun 9am-8pm so they really do it all from cozy breakfast vibes, to grabbing an afternoon study and coffee session, down to happy hour and dinner or a late night date. The coffee is delicious and on par price with most coffee shops ranging from $2.25 for a small drip to $4+ for latte or handcrafted drink like macchiato or cappuccino. They serve local PEI teas from Lady Baker Teas and the rotating local craft beer always has a selection for everyone from sours and stouts to IPA and light ales. The food menu is not big but it is creative and will definitely have something to entertain your tastebuds. While serving sizes are not big, the price is on point for what you are ordering, anything from appetizers and finger food like hummus bowls, nachos, and dumplings to sandwich's and wraps or Mac & cheese and burrito style bowls twisted with vegetarian and/or GF fusion like cashew coconut cream cheese or sweet and spicy Dijon spread. The turkey sandwich was pretty good, thick bread and hefty serving of turkey and toppings so a good study lunch while the Coconut cream Mac & cheese my friend ordered came in a little cast iron with a golden crispy cheese covered top on gluten free penne with a side of tortillas, smelled heavenly! 1911 is a really fun and productive vibe and Ill def be back for more study sessions (Wifi is posted right up on the wall on a huge board) or maybe ill hit a happy hour with friends next time to try some local stout as the weather gets colder.
