Do NOT sleep on the Old Triangle for a good old fashioned Irish pub experience with the cozy Irish draw, a delicious menu, great brews, and awesome service. Old Triangle never fails to fill my belly with good food and my face with a big ol smile to share with the friends who went with me. Great menu with lots to pick from and everything is so delicious and well made! Definitely recommend any of the Burger Love burgers (Ahem pot of gold burger is banginggg!) and the fries are SO GOOD (regular and sweet tater options, both delicious). One of my recent favs is the Mojo Verde summer salad with steak, a huge platter with romaine, basmati rice, crispy chickpeas, grilled veg (peppers, onion, tomato) and steak (or chicken/shrimp) done to your liking with a delicious verde herb salsa over it. The beverage and alcohol menu is always great with local brews and some fantastic wines available. Live music many night, 1/2 price app deals, and service is always so friendly. I enjoyed my visit to the Old Triangle in Halifax, but was very disappointed in Charlottetown and I was so mad when I left that I didn't try the location in Sydney. To start, it was a very rainy night and I drove around for quite a while to get a parking place. I showed up wet and hungry. The person at the door said he didn't have a table, but I could sit at the bar. The only seat available was very far from the stage and directly behind a large square post. I went back to the front and explained that I was hoping to have dinner and listen to Roger Stone, a Cape Breton musican I really wanted to see. He said he couldn't sit a single person at a table, so I was out of luck. So I said hello to Roger Stone and told him I was sorry to miss his show and went back out into the rain. read more

Came on a Friday with a big party. We reserved in advance. It was very empty for a Friday afternoon. The table got a salad, potato skins and nachos as starts to share. The salad was very good. The potato skins were incredible. The nachos were sadly very bad, as they had little topping and the chips were humid. Not crunchy or soggy, humid. I got the Irish boxty (under traditional) with beans and a biscuit and shared it with another member of my party. The Irish boxty is like a potato crepe with pieces of beef and a jam on top made with apples. The beans were way too sweet. The biscuit was good. The boxty itself was okay. The meat was tough, but the potato crepe was very good, which evens out to being just ok. The portions are huge, so be careful how much you order. The waitress was nice and energetic and she was able to recommend some local ciders and beers which ended up being very good. I strongly recommend the beer in the picture. read more

I had a late supper this evening at the Old Triangle Irish Alehouse. I've been to their location in Halifax a few times and have enjoyed my times there. I ordered Steak 'n Steak 'n Mashed Potatoes (minus the slaw). I ordered the steak medium-well. While they were tasty, one steak was medium-well and the other was well-done. I was ready to settle up my bill and pay about 9pm. By 9:30pm, I hadn't seen my server in a half hour so I went to the bar to take care of it. There were only a handful of people in the bar so I don't know what happened to her. Once I got to the bar to pay my bill, a couple in my section got up and followed me to do the same. Then our server appeared. She had been a bit abrupt but efficient all night and seemed really friendly all of a sudden. So it wasn't an overly warm and fuzzy experience. read more

First time to PEI and I went during the off season for business reasons. I had asked about decent local restaurants in the area and some folks in the office believed this is the best local dining around during off season. I had the fish and chips plate which was very good. The french fries are made to order and are seasoned with herbs (I'm guessing basil, oregeno and sea salt). The cole slaw is an oil based slaw which was so fresh I would have to say it was also made to order. It's a very light slaw compared to the mayo based slaws you normally find. They offer a good selection of beer on tap and have an area for bands to play. I understand they have open mic on Sundays and you can often hear traditional Irish music here. The waitstaff was very courteous and attentive and it was very clean. There is a section that has private seating for a more cozy feel. The seats in that section look like booths with full backs that connect to the ceiling. read more

I ate here with my girlfriend for dinner a few Saturdays ago. The inside looks very pub esque with some well worn but comfortable furniture and a bar on one side and some recessed booths on the other. Since it was seat yourself, my girlfriend and I chose one of those booths. For dinner I decided to have the applewood smoked cheddar fetucine. It came out in a large bowl with a garlic ciabatta on the side. Wow did it taste fantastic. Originally I thought that there was supposed to be bacon and was looking for it when eating. Even without it the pasta was great being creamy and delicious. As we were leaving I looked at the menu only to see that I was wrong and that it did not come with bacon. The bottom line for me is that I would definitely eat here again. The atmosphere was nice and I loved my food. read more

This restaurant has a complete Irish feel. As a tourist, I found it very "PEI"-like. So the ONLY reason they get a 3/5 is for it's atmosphere. The glasses for the drinks were not cleaned well. I could see the lip stains on one of my glasses. As for the food: Mushroom caps stuffed with lobster: I have had much better mushroom caps at Moxies and the Keg that are chain restaurants. The lobster was kind of chewy. The large amount of butter made it tolerable. 2/5 Lobster Roll: The minute amount of lobster in the roll was not fresh and didn't taste like lobster. The roll was toasted (burnt I'm some areas) and buttery. 2/5 Lobster Fettuccini: The lobster was cooked well and the artichoke hearts were delicious. 3.5/5 Drinks: I asked for a mixed "fun" drink and specified that I wanted a FUN drink. I got a vodka orange juice soda .... That didn't taste like alcohol AT ALL. And it was not FUN. 1/5 read more

I went to this restaurant with a couple of friends and I really enjoyed it. It serves mostly pub fare but with an Irish twist. There was live Irish music when we were there and it really added to the atmosphere, without overpowering you with noise. The service was very good. I liked it so much that I went back the next night, by myself. Mondays are half price appetizers so I had the Irish nachos, which are big enough to be a meal by themselves. The meal was great but the service was a little lacking the second time. read more

I have a long history of poor service and/or food in restaurants. This was hands-down the best meal my girlfriend and I have had for a long time. Irish food beer and top notch service. I had the ham and cabbage meal and it was un-freakin-believable. My girlfriend had the curry chicken with peas and fries and it was just as excellent. Be back soon. Keep up the good work! read more

The Old Triangle certainly has its charms, even though it's starting to look a little frayed around the edges and could probably use a little upkeep. Other than that, the Irish/Canadian food they serve is excellent and the portions are large. They have some nice booths to sit in on the far end of the restaurant and in the summer, the outdoors seating is often busy and festive. Plenty of live music of varying quality gets played here. If you're there to drink, the live music is very enjoyable, but on occasion when I've been there to eat the music has been overwhelmingly loud making conversation impossible at almost any table in the restaurant. So it really depends on what they're there to do. As for the food I can recommend the pan fried haddock and the mussels. There are plenty of local beers on tap, and regular happy hours with great prices. The only problem is that finding parking can be a huge hassle, especially in the day time and during the summer months. read more

I felt like I was in Ireland. Walked in on a Sunday afternoon to a circle of Irish music players, each with a different instrument playing....well...Irish music of course. Was very interesting. Seat yourself. I like that they have fairly private booths if feeling anti social which I usually am. The food was pretty good. I had meatloaf with their house cole slaw which I enjoyed. Stumbled upon this place on a Saturday night. They had an Irish band at first and they were good. Switched over to another band later that was excellent. We stayed for hours singing along. I love the curry and chips here. You can also grab a pint of Strongbow here (not too many places here in Chalottetown carry it.) The prices for lunch are very reasonable! Supper is good too, and the nighttime bands are great (although the sound system is sometimes set too loud.) In terms of service. The bartenders are awesome, but not all the wait staff is up to snuff. The waitresses seem a little cranky, and the waiters look bored. read more

I hate to say it, but the Old Triangle in PEI is better than the Old Triangle in Nova Scotia. It never occurred to me that their menus might be different, but they are! Although the Halifax location still serves up a tasty meal, I have to give the upper hand to the C-Town location. KELLYBEGGS fish and Chips The menu has it listed as fish and chips comes with mushy peas coleslaw and 1 side and tartar sauce and lemon. 2 fish and chips dinners ordered and asked for the side dish and was told the chips were the side. then why does the menu state "comes with a side to fish and chips mushy peas and Coleslaw? 2 rec'd our meals no mushy peas and only a spoon of coleslaw & horseradish aioli which was not listed as part of meal. my beef and blue cheese salad didnt come with blue cheese I had to tell waitress it was missing. She asked us to give them 2nd chance that was what we were trying to do. When the salad was wrong I thought the Chef was coming out to speak to us but no he went to another table. All in all a disappointing experience. We do not recommend this restaurant. read more

I had dinner here during my vacation to the Maritimes, while looking for a good place to eat while staying overnight. What I found was a great Irish pub. Great service, a barkeep who was very knowledgeable about the beers that they serve (on top of a healthy selection of beers). I had a boxty wrap for dinner along with a bruschetta appetizer, both of which were very tasty. If I make it back to PEI again, I'd try this restaurant out again. read more

Food is great and the atmosphere is really nice. The live music is really great and fitting for the place. I've had the lamb shank, which I'm not sure is still offered, but it was so delicious and the club with fries ( the fries are coated in spice I think steak spice and are really great). We went to this restaurant while on vacation on PEI. The reviews were good and I can see why. We had a Sunday brunch special. I had the eggs benedict over the fish cakes- YUM! It was a little early for us for drinks- but a lot of people were having a great time. The food was hot, hearty and delicious. I ate more than I wanted to. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal. The server was friendly and helpful and we had a very nice meal. We can't go back- but you should! Stop in and you won't be sorry! read more

I was here last summer and found this to be a great surprise. Being from Maine, I was pretty excited to find Sam Adams on draft! After 2 weeks on PEI that was the only place I found that had it on draft, or even in a bottle. We actually ate here twice during that trip and one night they had live music which was nice. It was pretty busy, we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, but it was worth the wait. read more

All three of us in our party had the fish and chips dinner. The fresh haddock was delicious with a crisp batter coating. It was outstanding! The French fries were perfectly cooked. A small portion of fresh clole slaw was delicious too. The best part of the meal was the informal Ceilidh jam session that played the whole time we were there. There were about 10 musicians. As the artwork aptly proclaimed on one wall: Food for the body, Drink for the spirit and Music for the soul. Good beer selection too. We had a super evening. read more
