This place was pretty good! I have been to several Thai restaurants in the US and this was my first spot in Canada. I absolutely adore Asian eggplants and was very happy to find them in my beef curry. The curry was very flavorful and aromatic. It was a little too spicy for my liking, I was told that the green curry was the more mild one, there wasn't anything mild about this. The Food was OK, nothing special. spring rolls were pretty greasy. BUT, the SMELL in there is nauseating, and I am still sick to my stomach from the smell/scent in the restaurant. This new Thai spot in Truro is a delight where ethnic cuisine is few and far between in Nova Scotia's hub city. The menu is a great variety of Thai favorites. I sampled the Panang Curry Beef (although you can have chicken or pork if you prefer) with a spring roll and rice. Just a warning this is a smaller portion than a regular combo or plate, so if you want a bigger meal order the full dishes. The rice and spring roll were perfect. The panang curry was spicy with just the right heat but I found the beef chewy and would opt for the chicken next time. I was in to eat on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch and there was a steady crowd of diners plus take out. Service with the crowd was friendly and prompt. Everyone in the place seemed to mention the Cashew Chicken after I had placed my order so you may want to give that dish a try. I've eaten at many Thai places and it continues to be one of my favourite Asian types of cuisine. It's the fact that you have many different flavours mixing together. Whether it be salty, basil, ginger, soy sauce garlic or curries with heat, flavours diverge and test your taste buds. You mix in some rice or noodles and it compliments the fragrant heat and flavour. So a friend mentioned this to be one place to check out in Truro. I was intrigued. So with a work colleagues I convinced that we order three dishes and we share them tasting style. We ordered ginger chicken, Chicken Pad Thai and lemongrass beef. With this. I decided to wash it down with a Thai ice tea. Here is the low down on each dish: Chicken Pad thai- nice wok flavoured but not overly peanuty or tamarind and but had some salt and sweet. Overall a solid 3.75/5. Ginger chicken- lots of match stick sized pieces of ginger, red pepper, onion and chicken in a rich brown sauce. 3.75/5 Lemongrass beef- beef with red pepper on a very spicy thick sweet and salty dark gravy sauce. A bit over salted but spicy none the less. 3/5 The Thai Iced tea did not have any milk and was sweet, a bit tangy and a little floral tasting. Overall very tasty 4/5 Overall a very strong meal. I definitely want to come back and sample other dishes. Food was very inexpensive. Service was cordial and friendly. Dishes came out lightning fast. read more

The food and service was excellent, as expected, prices are great compared to the city. The all day specials include some nice choices but I was sad to see they don't serve fresh spring rolls :( Everyone enjoyed their food; we had the yellow curry prawns, sweet and sour chicken and tamarind prawns. Sahla Thai is possibly one of the best restaurants in Truro. The food here compares favourably to any Thai restaurant you will find in Halifax. Especially tasty are their spring rolls, which you can order separately, or they come included in the combo meals. I find the combo meal to be the best bang for your buck, as it includes a spring roll, jasmine rice and the curry or noodle dish that you wish, with either chicken, beef or vegetarian with tofu. All for only $8.99!! My favourite combo meal is the Massaman curry (which I order without onions, and with tofu). The sauce is a perfect combination of sweet and spicy, and has a delicate peanut flavour. The service is efficient and friendly. read more

We went here yesterday for dinner after a stroll in the park in Victoria Park (which is really beautiful and people from Halifax should know about it more!) The restaurant is small, quiet, (esp on a Sat. night) but the food is very well-priced! There's an all-day combo menu so we ordered from that. We got a green curry and a paneng curry, both of which come with a choice of meat (standard: chicken, beef, or you could choose veggie) and a spring roll. They were portioned well for $8.99 ea and were very delicious! So much flavour! Compared to Hali-based thai restaurants such as Talay Thai and Cha Baa, I was impressed. The food here tastes better - having extremely similar items! Talay Thai and Cha Baa have lunch specials which are identical items but are more expensive and have selective hours for these lunch specials whereas this place has all-day specials. Also, if you want an entrée at either of the 2 Thai restaurants in Halifax, they charge extra for rice which makes it come to about $20. At Sahla, the rice is included in these entrees making it normally less than $15. It's more reasonably priced here and it tastes better. Too bad it's a little bit of a drive form Halifax :( read more

Considering it's a Thai restaurant in Truro I shouldn't really expect too much. On the other hand it's not real Thai food. It didn't quite feel like other places I tried recently. It's still good food, but didn't taste as authentic. I had some spicy noodles and they weren't even spicy! I asked for extra sauce but that didn't help too much. Service was polite but nothing spectacular. We went almost before closing time and were the only people in the whole place. If I pass by there again I might try something else but I'd probably give the other thai restaurant a try first. read more

You don't see restaurants packed on a Monday at lunch time, but Sahla Thai was. Lots of people coming in for takeaway as well, so Truro's loving their spicy food! The menu is blessedly shorter than many Thai menus in the city and their combo plates make ordering for lunch a snap. We had the mango salad, the coconut soup with pork and the red curry noodle soup with pork. All we very good, but we got some extra chili sauce to intensify the heat. You can have lunch for under $10. This will probably be our go-to resto in Truro. read more
