Hot and sour soup was among the best I have had. The pad thai was equally as good and the staff were very welcoming.

The best bang for your buck lunch spot by far. Definitely authentic and great tasting. $14.50 for the lunch penang came with rice and a salad roll along with a generous sided portion of dipping sauce. Great food and ambiance with so many plants all over the entire restaurant. While I was happy with the food and price, service is definitely lacking. We didn't get water the entire time we were in the restaurant and the lunch meals took way longer than it should have for it being 2 in the afternoon on a Monday with only two other tables occupied. The lunch took about 40 minutes to arrive which was quite brutal and the beer glasses that were brought out were just filthy so I opted to drink right out of the bottle like an animal. Definitely great food but not sure I'd sit in again for the amount of time it took and the filthy glass. It was odd because the rest of the place looked clean and the water glasses were spotless. If not for the really slow service, we'd have given 5 stars. I think I'd opt for take out next time and save myself the wait. read more

We were tired of eating seafood every day while on vacation in Halifax, so we were excited to discover this Thai restaurant that looked promising based on the reviews. We decided to get take-out and called in our order. The lady said it'd take 20-25 min, and it was ready when hubby picked it up. I ordered the black pepper beef for $14.95 and a side of rice for $4. I thought the price of the rice was a bit much. I requested less red & green peppers and more mushrooms, and they obliged. The taste of the dish itself was just okay. It didn't taste like traditional Thai food to me, or at least not like the kind I'm used to eating. Hubby ordered the Pad Thai with chicken for $14.95 and said there was too much soy sauce or something in it. He didn't really care for it. The price of the dishes were reasonable, thus the 3 stars instead of 2, and the portions were a decent size. read more

I've been a regular here for just about a year and it never disappoints. Even on a cold winter's afternoon it can get quite busy and there seems to be a regular take-out trade. I've had a good look through the menu and there are some absolute gems. Pad kee mow is my favourite main course, and the fried chicken balls are a superb starter. I recently tried the lunchtime only beef noodle soup and I will be back for more. Kind of a Thai version of a ramen dish, like all their fare it's very filling. As far as the space goes, around 40 covers, pleasant, comfortable without being fancy. Service is very good and they are happy to give advice if asked. When very busy, things can slow down a little, but nothing excessive. Value wise, can't complain. A starter and main with tip will come in around $30+ and you won't leave hungry. If you can go with a group, all order something different and share, you will have quite the experience. Can't recommend enough! read more

We had a delicious dinner here. Everything was served hot and fresh. Friendly service. It's really small so they don't have a lot of tables and it's definitely casual but the food was really good. We're going to return! We had lettuce rolls, spring rolls, pad Thai and it was all delicious. Highly recommend the Blue Elephant. First I'll start with.... The dipping sauce that comes with those fresh spring rolls ... Could be a side soup on its own.. Unreal delicious. The spring rolls were excellent and a nice light fresh appy to start The veg pad thai I feel..... I feel like it's the same veg they would use in their curries, Some were a little over cooked and some were perfect. I loved the overall flavour and quantity I got.... None of it went to waste! I think I would have liked to have the noodles... Whole? And not cut and sliced up. A noodle is supposed to represent longevity... I feel like my time is up. Haha. I also would have liked to have it a little spicier.. And no lime?! Or bean sprouts... What gives? Overall I really enjoyed my first experience at Blue Elephant thai * chop sticks for take out are cheap and really depressing... I felt cheated out of the whole Thai experience using them. read more

Had the vegetarian Penang Curry off of the lunch menu. It was freaking delicious!!! It was served with a fresh roll with peanut sauce, which was also excellent! The service was top shelf - super nice server and food came out quickly. Prices were very reasonable. We had a takeout meal that was really good so decided to try eat in. The experience was just great. The place is decorated in Thai themed items and lots of real plants really add to the atmosphere. Our server was spot on, cute, friendly and helpful. The green tea was served in an elephant tea pot which everyone adored. The food arrived piping hot in a cool variety of dishes that somehow added to the experience. Everything was delicious. Ginger Chicken was great, it has sliced sections of real ginger and when you bit one the ginger just popped. Red curry was my favourite, lots of spice but not overpowering. The pepper beef had a great bbq taste and was full of meat. The pad Thai was very good too but the other dishes really stood out and every dish had its own unique taste. We went into this Thai restaurant last weekend which was newly opened in my neighborhood. Great location as we just live down the street! We've waiting for a Thai place since we moved in. The waiters are friendly and polite, we were warm welcomed the moment we walked in this restaurant. We surely like the vibes going on there, dark, light music, chill and relaxing. Food is absolutely delicious! We tried chicken wings and they are lemongrass flavored. Very unique. But the signage is not bright enough for people to see from outside. I've never heard about blue elephant until a few days ago - and I am incredible sad about it! Walking in, you are greeted with a beautiful blue and red theme, stunning wall paintings and fresh red flowers on each table. Very clean, very precise. It's not a huge place so it's definitely cozy My bestie and I decided to venture on through and try some amazing food. My choice was the red curry chicken and she chose the Penang vegetable. We went at lunch and didn't expect a huge portion because of that. The price is about 11$ for everything on their lunch menu, and you definitely will not be disappointed. The portions were huge, both included rice and a spring roll. It was served on a little wooden leaf with built in dividers which was a super cute touch. I am incredible happy with how good it was and how high their quality standard seemed to be. Everything ties in together, you feel welcomed and the atmosphere is so relaxed - never once do you feel rushed. To date, this is probably my favourite Thai restaurant. They should definitely do a bit more marketing because I am very surprised that it's been there for awhile and I've never heard of it!! read more

I do not recommend this place. The first time I went, the wait was never around...we sat there with no water during the entire meal. When they did show up they spent their time by the register crying. The second time, I order takeout and they get my order completely wrong. When I called them, they basically told me it was my fault and I shouldn't be calling. Save yourself the agony and go somewhere else. read more

We had the Spring Rolls (Deep Fried) Calamari (To die for) Pineapple Fried Rice (Yummy), Pad Thai, and Ginger Beef. We loved every dish! The layers of flavour, and freshness was delightful. We did not enjoy our meal here. It started out promising with excellent spring rolls but then it went all downhill. Everything was just so sweet that any complexity of flavour was hidden. We told the waitress this when asked how our food was, and she just told us "Thai food is sweet." There are other Thai restaurants in Bedford with far better food. This is one of those really nice small restaurant gems. It has a simple menu of reliably great dishes, served by a friendly staff in a cozy, comfortable location. Not fancy, reasonably priced, great food. And as with most great little restaurants, the best thing is the foot which is delicious. I usually have a curry-dish (though the curry is not strong but the mix of spices is excellent). Their Pad Thai is also very good though a little different than the norm. They have very filling lunch specials for 11-12 dollars and in the evening you order a la carte (like in some Chinese restaurants, scooping from the different dishes of food to your preference. read more

Met a friend at the Blue Elephant for dinner recently. Overall the food was very good with decent portion sizes. Two complaints about the restaurant itself. We were provided with small wooden plates for our spring rolls which were badly scratched and in my view unsanitary for eating on. Also, they had no knives on the table and our dishes came with no serving spoons. We had to ask for these items which I thought was odd. I think this restaurant will do well with a few tweaks.
