While Dr James Thompson is a good doctor, his staff leaves a lot to be desired. Scheduling an…read moreappointment with Dr. Thompson is a grueling and frustrating experience. If you get to speak with someone on the first call you generally can not get an appointment day of or even week of. I had a medical issue on a weekend and went to Urgent Care. Urgent Care told me if I was not better in 3 or 4 days to see my Dr. I called because I was not better and was told the earliest appointment would be 19 days out. 19 Days! I explained the urgency of the situation and said that I would like to see another Doctor in his office. Nothing was available and the nurse suggested I contact Urgent Care. Perfect, and I just told her Urgent Care told me to see my Doctor. This is not the first time that I have had a hard time scheduling an appointment with Dr. Thompson, but it is going to have to be the last time. I like Dr. Thompson, but it is just to difficult to get an appointment. If you can schedule your sickness and aches and pains around their schedule then go for it, but I can not do it.

( Not just "in the practice" - but actually there in the office seeing patients and personally consulting with nurse practitioners and/or physicians assistants face to face. I have been extremely satisfied with both Dr. Selph and her Nurse Practitioner. Based on my history and the fact I have several friends who have died from melanoma- I will settle for nothing but the best. I'm grateful Hendersonville has such a well-educated/trained and board certified dermatologist - that I would definitely rate as THE BEST!!

It's a busy practice and I had to wait a bit to get in, but so grateful that I did. Unparalleled. I always get quick and personal responses, on the portal site or by phone, when I need a prescription refill or have a question. I especially love my primary care physician, Dr. Hansel. He is obviously skilled and knowledgeable, but very importantly he is also kind, and though I know he has a tight schedule, he has a way of not making me feel rushed or unheard.

Unless you like gambling with your LIFE, I highly recommend finding a different physician/surgeon…read more Dr. Das did my hysterectomy in July of 2024. I hemorrhaged for over 24hrs and almost died. My children almost lost their Mom because of a negligent surgeon. I ended up in emergency surgery late the next afternoon. There was a 12oz blood clot under my diaphragm which did not surprise me because I started complaining of dyspnea hours after the hysterectomy which got significantly worse. I am a flight medic and I knew something was seriously wrong. The attending MD at Advent (Dr. Archuleta) did absolutely NOTHING, nor did Dr. Das. NOTHING WAS DONE UNTIL I WENT UNCONSCIOUS THE NEXT DAY. When Dr. Das was asked point blank by my family while I was still in the hospital and again by me at post-op appts (which we have recorded), she said "There was no sign of bleeding anywhere, I removed approximately a 12 ounce blood clot that was restricting her diaphragm. I looked and looked but didn't find anywhere the bleeding could have come from. Sometimes hemorrhaging happens for no reason. She/you is/are ok now and healing, that's what we need to be thankful for, she/you survived lets focus on that". YOU ABSOLUTELY DO NOT HEMORRHAGE AFTER SURGERY FOR NO REASON PERIOD. This Sunday 10/26/25 will be 15 months since my hysterectomy (emergency sx was next day) and I have had medical problems EVER SINCE. PLEASE, REALLY THINK ABOUT LONG AND HARD BEFORE YOU PUT YOUR LIFE IN HENDERSONVILLE OB/GYN & DR. DAS HANDS. IT ALMOST COST ME MINE. I do not want another woman to endure what I went through, what my children, my husband, my Aunt/Uncle witnessed and went through, and what I am still dealing with almost 15 months later. The first picture below was less than 12hrs s/p hysterectomy - second picture is 16hrs, and the last picture was 20hrs s/p hysterectomy. I NEVER stopped telling them something was wrong and that I couldn't breathe.I NEVER STOPPED REQUESTING LABS AND IMAGING. I was not out of the hospital bed so the hemorrhage was NOT caused by physical activity or anything that was my fault. Das insisted I was constipated (I was unable to eat solid foods for 2 weeks before the hysterectomy due to debilitating pain, nausea and vomiting from what she said were small fibroids) PRIOR TO THE HYSTERECTOMY, she wrote orders for GoLYTELY because why not I guess? She had plans that day so she was in a hurry. It was not until I was left in the bathroom alone and unattended WHILE WEARING A FALL RISK HOSPITAL BAND (Advent Hospital) while the nurse stood outside of the closed and latched bathroom door, and losing consciousness while standing did ANYTHING. I DID NOT JUST LOSE CONSCIOUSNESS ONCE, IT WAS MULTIPLE TIMES before Das or the attending decided to do something more than tell me I was full of shit. I had multiple blood transfusions in the hospital, I am still anemic, I have felt terrible since, and have been unable to return to my job as a flight medic due to the ongoing medical problems that stemmed from the iaterogenic laceration that Dr. Das chose to lie straight to my face about. She probably thought nothing would come from her almost killing me since it has been 15 months that is definitely not the case. She repeatedly lied and refused to hold herself accountable. So, I am going to make sure that she and every single person involved with my care from the second I was admitted for surgery 7/26/2024 until now is held accountable.

Not once did anyone take responsibility or offer explanations. I repeatedly went to this office begging for help with symptoms that were affecting every part of my life. I had labs done, I voiced my concerns over and over, and each time I was brushed off with a casual "everything looks fine." It turns out everything was not fine. After they abruptly asked me to leave the practice without any legitimate explanation, my new provider immediately recognized that I had likely been suffering through menopause the entire time I was with them. Something this office should have caught long before things got this bad. The staff was nearly impossible to reach, and when I did get through, I was met with rudeness, dismissiveness, and zero accountability. Dr. Balta, her husband, and their staff acted like my concerns were an inconvenience rather than a patient's right to proper care. Knowing now that my chart was incomplete and inaccurate for who knows how long is infuriating. That level of negligence could have led to a serious health crisis... and the fact that they acted as if nothing was wrong is unacceptable. This office failed me completely. They ignored symptoms, mishandled my records, dismissed my concerns, and treated me with disrespect on top of it.
