Came here to check the hyped parathas and was not disappointed. I had the paneer tikka stuffed paratha tandoori style and it was very tasty. The dal makhani and yogurt complimented it very well. Besides veg and non-veg parathas, this place also does Indian pizzas as well as some odds & ends. Got the sharabi paratha. It supposedly had alcohol, which was why it was priced at a premium, but I couldn't taste it. That said it was great: crispy & with a lot of tasty chicken inside. It was quite spicy but eaten with the yogurt it was served with, it was ok. It was also served with a mild curry sauce which tasted good & went well with it. There was also some pickle, but I'm not a fan of Indian pickle, so. The rose shake was very fragrant, though a bit too sweet. Tooty Frooty ice cream was decent with candied fruit on what I think was papaya ice cream. It didn't have distinctive flavours, rather having a vague fruit flavour, but was rich enough. Wow! I was throughly impressed with Paranthe Wali Gali. The restaurant name means, the small alley of Paranthes! This location is very small, maybe seats 15-20 people max. We thankfully came at the right time and got seated right away. Funnily enough, the walkway to the washroom is a small alley with tables for 2! So I thought that was nice considering the name of the restaurant! We ordered: Chicken Seekh Parantha Mutton Seekh Lovers Pizza Parantha Both were delicious! The Mutton one had lots of Mozzarella cheese with was sooo good. The Chicken one came with Yoghurt and Pickle. Both complimented the dish really well. Heading into Ottawa and spent a night in Brampton. We already knew that Toronto has some great Indian options but there is an actual PUNJABI pratha place? THAT WAS AN EPIC SURPRISE!!!!! My South Indian friends, especially those residing in the US will appreciate my eagerness on this review given we crave our true desi khana khazana. As I was driving and my wife was reading the menu, we were laughing and laughing non stop for like 10 minutes or so. The names of the items are HILARIOUS. Now the food; we ordered the paneer tikka omelette, paneer pratha and one samosa (Come on, it's a Punjabi place; you gotta get the samosas). While the filling was fantastic as well as the casing, I only wish they would have tried to remove more of the oil from the samosa. The pratha; hmmm, hmmmmmm, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. No, please don't expect it to be any close to what you'd get at home in India but it was really good for it being here in North America. It was presented neatly in a pizza box with 4 little containers accompanying it; aachar, dhai, makhan and dal. I only wish they would not use as much red chilli powder in the paneer and instead use more spicier green chillies but that's a personal preference. The paneer tikka omelette was something very different. Honestly, never had anything like it before and wasn't sure what to expect. They had perfectly cooked an omelette with paneer tikka. With it was ok fries and 2 slices of white bread. The omelette was BEAUTIFULLY cooked. I mean perfect. Been here twice and to their other location once. Have to say their food tastes great and I truly love it. All their parathas come with a side of dal, dahi, papad and achar. The dal is always perfectly cooked and delicious. I've tried a few parathas - the paneer tikka, aloo pyaaz, mumbaiya, butter chicken etc. The butter chicken is my favourite followed by the paneer tikka. Their mango lassi, salt lassi and masala tea are all fantastic as well. The only thing that bothers me every time is the long wait time and long time they take to attend your table. Food also takes a while to come, but since everything is freshly made, I understand having to wait for it. Service can be a little faster. Overall definitely a great spot for authentic Indian Parathas. The Clarence st location is tiny so some of the seats are super cramped and close to the washroom/ backside. read more

We ordered multiple things on the menu. Crazy Kukkad (5/5) - Butter Chicken Parantha, the server stated that its their special and let me tell you its a must to have. Shaukeen Punjabi Nawab (3/5) - Chicken tikka with omelete paratha We also got a veg paneer paratha which I can't remember the name for.. and it was decent (3/5) On top of that I also tried their Rose Lassi (3/5) and two of their Icecreams - Tooty Frooty Ice Cream (3.5/5) & Paan Ice Cream (3.5/5). The ice creams were good but I was disappointed with the toppings with the price they charged, as the toppings makes the ice cream Tooty Frooty or Paan flavor. On other thing which threw us of was the menu had changed and they were still using the old menu. One of the paratha was suppose to come with daal but it wasn't the case in the new menu. As one of my friend was vegetarian and was looking forward to that but the server said no more. If the menu hasn't been replaced they should have just given it... all the sides were very small portion anyways but it threw off the mood. A Saturday lunch at parathe waali gali. They have two locations this one was the Clarence Street one. It's a small place so might not be a good idea for big groups and/or children. The decor is lovely though, a mix of food photos and Bollywood, the servers are helpful and polite. The menu has a large selection of both veg and non veg paranthas. The cheese paranthas have a seperate section and are called pizza parathas. All parathas come with daal makhani, curd and a delicious onion achaar. The pizza Paratha comes with a dip and salsa sauce. We were not very sure about the flavor so stuck to the regular, aaloo pyaaz paratha(6.99) and butter chicken cheese pizza Paratha(8.99). We got a salted lassi(4.99)and masala tea (2.99) to go with. The aloo pyaaz was great, the achaar and daal makhani were both fantastic. The Butter chicken cheese took the crown however, lots of cheese filled in with chicken and cooked to perfection. The parathas are not deep fried though and are our like our regular variants. Apart from that the food was excellent and filling. One of the best $3 I have spent on chai, the aroma of it and the whole milk freshness. The salted lassi was delicious as well. It is not very expensive, i think under 30 for the two of us with taxes. My boyfriend and I arrived only minutes after the restaurant opened and it was nearly full, which was a great sign. Granted, it's a very small restaurant (around 6 tables). My understanding is that most people get takeout from here because there's so little space. My boyfriend is a fan and knew exactly what we should get so we ordered only minutes after sitting down and proceeded to wait over 30 minutes for our appetizer. All the tables around us were getting rounds and rounds of food and our main dish didn't come out for about 45 minutes. It was pretty frustrating. The staff weren't friendly and they didn't make any effort to explain the delay or apologize for it taking so long. My boyfriend said they're usually really quick, so maybe there was just a mix-up but I don't think I'd go back unless it was for takeout. Decided to try this place out based on all the hype, let me share my thoughts. My go to Parantha / Paranta is always mooli as I enjoy it compared to its potato stuffed version which is heavier. What I had at this place made me feel like gagging. The only thing I could taste was grease and little or no seasoning, it was the worst Mooli Paranta I have ever eaten. I'm coming back to this place soon. Wait, I know I just had the worst Paranta I have ever eaten, but there's more! We also ordered the Keema Sheema, Aloo and lastly the Butter chicken stuffed Paranta which were all stars. Good quick service with a cheeky decor, Brampton has a new gem on its hands. I would give it a 5 star rating had I not been there the second time and noticed a considerable difference in service within a month. During my first visit everything was amazing. The food, service and cleanliness. However, yesterday The food was still but they have reduced the daal and achaar serving sizes. NOT COOL. Also the service. The waitress didnot serve us water when we were seated. And had a weird attitude. We ordered 2 paranthas and 2 lassis and paan ice cream. After she brought out one parantha, the waitress informed us then that they cannot make the other one because they ran out of ingredients. This is unacceptable as the other person had to wait another 10 min for the food. If something is not in stock let the customer know right when you take the order. The paranthas in this quaint little place were great. We tried 8 different ones. All exceot for one (pindi chana) we're tasty and just fantastic. We tried dosa, achari paneer, mooli, butter chicken, sharabi (it comes with JD) , meat with omlet on top, pindi chana and Gulab jaman parantha for desert. All had good flavours. The only reason I can't give this place a 5 is it's disorganized service. Service needs to improve. Servers need to be proactive in bringing watermelon refilling water, cutlery, napkins, etc. The process to pay at the drink cashier is ok but don't make paying people wait along with those who just came in to sit or order take out. This slows down the people who are finished to leabe faster and provide for another empty table. You oy have a few tables so you need to improve this process.
