Jesse and his crew were responsive and eager to coordinate directly with my insurance provider, which helped move the process along--but not without some concerns. To start with the positives: Jesse is communicative and aggressive about pushing the claim through insurance. Once work began, the repairs were done relatively quickly. He clearly wants to keep things moving and keep the client informed. However, the full process--from damage to completion--dragged into early April. A lot of that delay falls on the insurance company, but not all. CRE can be a bit too eager to upsell or stretch the scope of work to fit what insurance might cover, and that added some complexity and delay. More importantly, the execution left a lot to be desired. The fascia and trim work ended up dented, scuffed, and uneven in places. Nails were bent over instead of properly seated. Cosmetic flaws that shouldn't be present after a professional repair. And the biggest issue: the roofing subcontractors were extremely sloppy. They left debris scattered across my yard and nails in my driveway--one of which ended up in my tire. That kind of carelessness really undercut any goodwill. In summary: Jesse is responsive and energetic, and CRE will push your claim hard. But expect to keep a close eye on the job, especially the subs, and don't expect perfection on finish work. Solid in some areas, disappointing in others.

The contract specifically states that the skylight would be replaced, along with the shingles, flashing, etc. Eventually a crew of Hispanic workers showed up and started replacing the shingles. There was nobody from Breyers supervising them, and nobody who spoke English well throughout their entire work here on the job. Overall, they seemed to have done a good job, though. Then we had some rain, and the area around the skylight leaked and stained the new paint that we had done in the kitchen. I called Breyers about the leak, and it turned out that nobody had installed a new skylight. It took weeks for it to get done, but eventually, and after a few calls, the new skylight was installed. The guy told me that "you basically got a free skylight", but it was in the contract that we both signed, and I paid 100% of the price given on both the the estimate and the contract. That comment was a bit off-putting, because he seemed to be saying that I didn't deserve to have the paint damage from the leaking (new) roof repaired. But he promised to send out a painter ... and promised ... and promised again when I called. "Didn't the painter get in touch with you?" No. Nothing. Another promise unfulfilled. So now I have a newly-painted kitchen with stains in the paint because they didn't supervise their crew, didn't do the job correctly the first time, didn't check that their crew did what the contract called for, and didn't follow through with their promises to fix the damaged paint.

Kevin and his crew were extremely professional, diligent, and courteous. They worked extraordinarily hard to complete the job on schedule, and they were very responsive to our requests. They did a great job answering my questions and addressing issues. They also prioritized job site safety. They went the extra mile to ensure that we had the color we wanted, that all of the downspouts matched, and that the gutters had guards and leak proofing. Their expertise and commitment to customer satisfaction are absent. They made an agreement with my ex-wife on some gutters during the roof replacement I authorized. I was not asked nor told about this arrangement. I said several times only what insurance covers. During this entire process Charles harassed my ex-wife for payment checks from the insurance company and then the insurance adjuster to the point that the insurance company detective called me as the uninvolved third party to warm me about Charles toxic behavior towards my ex-wife. In the end all the insurance checks got to Shoreline, despite Charles harassment. His issue was they were sent via USPS and not UPS by the insurance company, something we had no control over. His greed and avarice far outweigh anything I've dealt with in dealing with simple tradesmen. He makes the experience truly exhausting and makes you regret every single moment. CHARLES wrote and picked out 16 photos and told me if I posted that positive review that he would knock off the extra cost $2500 of the gutters if I paid the $2000 my exwife had stiffed them on. I agreed, again foolishly verbal. I left the reviews and paid the invoice sent to $0. Months passed with no issues. 2 days before CHRISTMAS, I get a new invoice with the $2500 on it. A personal business philosophy I have is I never hire a company that knocks on my door, regardless of what they are offering. Sothernwood doesn't do that. Our roof had reached the manufactures "end of life" of 25 years. Why wait for a failure, so it was time. I did the research, liked what I saw with Southernwood. The estimate was in the middle of with quotes, but more importantly they listened and understood what I wanted. They did not try to upsell us or sell us something we didn't need. Andrew, the sales engineer, was the best. We have solar on the roof, both thermal and PV, and Southernwood was very flexible in regard to the time frame to get those removed. Their team came on the appointed day on time and were very friendly, efficient and accommodating. They were done by ~2pm, and cleaned everything to the point you never knew they were here.
