The word to describe the 2 guys that came today was "impressive". Last May, a new Buderous furnace was installed in our basement. It replaced an original Wyle Mclain burner that was nearly 40 years old. At the time of install, we noticed that the flue pipe was smaller, and asked if any changes were needed (see my other review of the Devaney Energy) and was told no. When the heating season hit, there suddenly was water gathering just behind the Buderous and in the area of the flue - now, separately, there also was water coming in to the tinderbox of the wood burning fireplace. Another chimney company, who never got on the roof, looked, and said it was the shoulders of the chimney and old caulking causing both issues. Not the case. We had nearly commited to the company noted just above when we thought, before spending thousands of dollars, we'd better get another estimate. Boy are we ever glad we did - otherwise, the issue would have returned once the heating season returned. We arranged for Paramount Chimney to come, who service MA, RI, PA and other areas, They are llicensed and certified. They called 40 minutes prior to arrival. Jay D. and Jeff arrived. They were courtous, polite, and knowledgeable. Before even realizing, Jeff was checking out the roof and immediately noticed that the flashing around the chimney needed to be addressed. While he was on the roof, Jay D was in the house inspecting the chimney and the basement. They realized that it was more than just a single issue - but two issues. The Buderous, being high efficiency, needed a smaller flue than the old burner - and the installers did not reduce the flue diameter causing an ineffective draft. This caused condensation, which, upon removal of the chimney cap became obvious to Jeff upon inspection. Jay D. and Jeff diagnosed not 1 problem, but both - and in a timely and cost effective manner solved the issues. They talked the issues out as they went to come to the solution. Jay D. and Jeff work the Massachusetts and Rhode Island area and should be on your list of people to call should you need to have work done on your chimney. We will be working with them annually for cleaning and it is great to know that we can request them back next season. I would recommend Jay D. and Jeff in a heartbeat. We were so thrilled, they left our place with fresh made sandwiches, snacks and sodas. It is the least we can do for the solution to a problem others seem to have missed. Company no longer knows what the others are doing. Multiple calls hounding for appt. Finally set appt. Only to be told on the day of appt, tech had an emergency! Mind you last year 3 guys came, hours late with no call that they took other calls before me. That was the second time, first time I allowed, things happen. This was the third time! I'm done! Plus when they installed my liner I was charged nearly 3000.00 my neighbor had theirs done last year with a steeper roof and was charged 1700.00 something is going on with this company and it's not good! read more

Came to our home to clean chimney. Charged us $275 to clean then said 'not clean', needed chemical wash to remove creasote then they would clean again for $1,000+. Had another sweep inspect who cleaned smoke chamber which was untouched. Paramount had nice techs but strategy is to scare homeowners and up charge. read more

Hired in providence RI. Claimed my flue was broken and recommended $2400 in service. I guess they might just be incompetent but I assume this was fraud. I put the screw back in the flue and hired someone else who cleaned the chimney without issue. Either way you should not hire these people. read more

RUN!!! FAR. We needed our damper replaced. Paramount quoted us $2,100 for installation of a damper that would fit over the top of the chimney flue. They could not conduct the replacement installation because they told me the smoke chamber had too much corrosion - which could start a chimney fire. (PLUS they cut off the handle to the old damper, which had been stuck in an open position.) Fairly certain we got sucked into a *SCAM* and we have no choice but to report this to the BBB and the New York Attorney General's office. Our local chimney experts say the replacement damper should be around $600. NOT $2,100 - THIS IS JUST SHAMEFUL. I thank the Lord we did not pay them. WHAT A SCAM. I have a two story house. This company brought one brush to clean my chimney and did not do the job. Stay away from them.

Damper needed repair, they replaced with a top damper, then cemented around the base of the chimney, voiding my roof warranty, then it started leaking, came back again, still leaking, screwed a metal plate inside the flue, still leaking. Cancelled appointments. Missed appointments. Sent a crew at 6pm at dusk. Crew didn't know why they were sent. Said someone would call me. Never happened. I Found a new contractor. Said that the damper violated code so they wouldn't look at my chimney. Found another contractor and hopefully it's fixed but Paramount cost me a few thousand dollars and it was never fixed by Paramount. read more

Bad news. Had chimney inspection and was quoted nearly $4000 in needed repairs. Got a second estimate as this chimney was inspected 2 years ago and I knew it couldn't get that way in two years. Called 'Premier Chimney' and they did a full cleaning and inspection and found all in perfect working order. Even the damper that Paramount said was not functional. Nicest guys too! Overcharged me for galvanized steel cover and collar for over $2000 and said that everything was going up. I also was under the impression that the cap was going to be replaced as it has dents and very weathered. Instead he reused the cap and it looks very unsightly on the house to which he even admitted that it looks unsightly. The guy mentioned if I wanted to get the cap replaced it would cost extra. I decided I was scammed enough and wanted him to just leave at that point. I would not recommend this company at all. Sry. I was very disappointed. He seemed nice too. Be wary of over kindness. When my mother needed to have the inside of her chimney cleaned, a close friend used Paramount for their chimney and did a great job repairing inside of their chimney so she decided to go with Paramount. She is very glad she went with them because they did a great job from start to finish. Dave showed up on time got the job done fast and cleaned up soot from fireplace really well. I recently called Paramount for an estimate to repair my chimney damper and to repair some cracked mortar in my firebox. On the day of the appt.they called to make it at a later time ,tech was running behind. OK si the time was moved to later that day. A few hours later, they called again to reschedule 2 days out abd they set a 10-2 window, I agreed reluctantly. Wednesday morning they called abd wanted to reschedule due to another problem they had . At that point I couldn't depend on them to do my job on schedule either. When I had a leak around my center chimney, I called Paramount. Their service was an utter disaster and disappointment. The work done was a catastrophe. The sealing of the brick they recommended and said would take care of the problem was not a fix and the leak continued. The staff said I needed to do a replacement for the flashing around the base of the chimney, which I did. That was not the problem. The two times Paramount staff did the sealing, they permanently and badly stained my roof shingle. They took ages to follow up and then did nothing to fix the stain they had caused. The total cost of this disaster was over $4000 and I still had to have a major re-do of the roof and chimney. Paramount is not able to do the work they advertise as their specialty. "NEVER, EVER, use this firm." If you are thinking about using Paramount Chimney for any repair work I would strongly recommend that you find a more reputable firm. Paramount Chimney rescheduled my job three times, starting in early October until the last time in mid-November when they showed up at 4 p.m. for an 8 a.m. scheduled job. The crew showed up near dusk and said it was too late and too cold, that the job should have been scheduled in the morning. The job was scheduled for first thing in the morning, but office staff changed the time without reviewing the work order. The tech that came to the house to quote the work was reasonable. I had patched the chimney, where it meets the house, in the middle of a snow storm and the tech recommended removing the patch and all of the old caulking which had hardened over the years. He said to do it the day before the scheduled repairs, which I did. That task took the better part of all day and left the inside of the house exposed to rain and water damage. Well, three cancelations later and I have no one to repair the chimney. I called five other firms and they said they were booking two months out and repairs would have to wait until the spring. Extremely rude and dismissive. It started out okay in that they changed their service time at 5:40pm the night before our 9am appointment because a crew member's wife went into labor. The new time was supposed to be 12-3pm and they missed that window. Then they called at 3:43pm and did not leave a message. I was on a work call and could not pick up. When I did call back fairly quickly after that, they were immediately extremely rude around that I wouldn't have immediately responded to their late call - even though they left no message after having completely missed their time window leaving my wife completely in the dark. My impression of this company is that they believe their clients report to them vs. the other way around. In their eyes, the customer isn't right. I had an estimate scheduled and they called the day before to reschedule for the morning. Had to make arrangements with work. Then they call the next day saying a technician had a family emergency and could they reschedule again and I basically told them no I basically stayed home for this and before I could say anything further the lady said "well we can't control if someone has a family emergency and you have a nice day" then hung up on me. I understand that people have family emergencies and I feel for that person but I basically took time for this that really was very hard for me to do and having to reschedule 2x in a matter of 24 hours is ridiculous. We were extremely pleased with Paramount Chimney & Gutter , Corp. They installed a new liner in our 100 year old chimney on a Saturday. The following day was a Sunday and we realized that our heat was off because the boiler had inadvertently been shut off. Many companies might have shirked responsibility but Paramount contacted multiple local plumbers throughout the day to fix the problem and covered the plumber's cost to turn the boiler back on. This level of professionalism is so rare these days. We were so impressed. We seldom leave our home during COVID and the comforts of our home are more important to us now than ever. I was very satisfied with them.. They called to confirm the day before and called before they came. The gentleman who was in the house cleaning the chimney was very nice and polite. They were done in a very short time and the price was what I was quoted on the phone. I asked if they could renail a piece of siding back that had come off in a storm, since they were up on the roof and agreed without hesitation to do it. This was not necessary for them to do, but I greatly appreciated their heIp, since I sure wasn't getting on the roof! I asked for a chimney inspection knowing my chimney needs work. I had appointment scheduled on 10/8 from 1-4 pm. Frankie the person that scheduled appointment called around to say they would be late. She called me a few more times up until 5 pm telling me the same story that they had emergency and said they would arrive around 6. At 6:30, a Scott called me to say they wouldn't be coming that day and rescheduled for 10/9 between 10-1. I Never received a phone call. They are not reliable and lied to me with made up stories. I googled chimney cleaners online Thursday evening & put my # for companies to call me. Within 20 minutes Paramount Chimney called And I set up an apt with them for today, Monday, between 2-5pm. I was ecstatic because my party was next weekend. I took the afternoon off from work and took the commuter line home since I work in Boston & live in the suburbs. By 3:30pm I got worried and called them & after the women checked, she said they're running behind but they'll be there closer to 5pm. I got a call at 5:25pm saying that they couldn't make it as their last job had taken longer then expected and the soonest they could make it would be ..... DRUM ROLL PLEASE ........ December 9th - after my party. The saddest part is that 3 more chimney companies called after Paramount & Cheerily I told them Paramount beat you out! Now here I am stuck, after making all of these arrangements to ensure this was taken care of as soon as possible. Businesses do this shit all of the time. They overcommit and we end up holding the bag. No service and wasted hours and taking personal hours off of work. My experience was the same as Megan's above. This company is completely unreliable and their customer "service" is disgraceful. The technicians were polite and seemed knowledgeable, but the morning of the scheduled service, the office called to say they had to reschedule because of rain (it wasn't raining in Philly and the work was indoors). The scheduler was incredibly rude but after much back and forth that included talking to a manager, they agreed to reschedule a few days later. That morning, the technician showed and said the mason couldn't come because of a family emergency. They didn't offer to do the scheduled chimney cleaning, however. Our chimney had not been serviced for 30 years and it was a disaster. We never use our fireplace so the condition of our fireplace was never given top priority. However, we have oil heat and when our burner was inspected by our oil company, we were told that our chimney's lining had completely deteriorated and that there was a considerable amount of debris in the chimney that was interfering with the burner. We contacted several chimney companies and selected Paramount because we were very impressed with their knowledge and expertise. Many of the companies that we contacted wanted to charge us for an estimate but Paramount gave free estimates, with no obligation. Richard was the technician who serviced our fireplace. Richard was punctual and did an amazing job with our fireplace. When inspecting our chimney, Richard also discovered nesting in our chimney that was removed when he serviced the chimney. Richard and his team were immaculate and I was personally impressed by his professionalism and the fact that he really took pride in his work.
