I am so glad I called this company! (referred by my boiler guy). So I get my chimney cleaned every year before the winter comes, I love to have the fire on and I make sure to get it cleaned bc a few years back we had a chimney fire! (so scary) So I had the fire started around 4pm yesterday and noticed later on in the evening that the air was thick and smelly, like almost something toxic was burning, I got nervous and called the fire dept and they came to check everything out bc i didnt want a replay of what happened. They said everything looked fine. So just to have a peace of mind I called US Chimney and spoke to Jennifer and told her my situation. She immediately scheduled a technician (Keith) to come over and have a look the same day! That was awesome #1! Then I told her to please have the tech give me a buzz before arrival bc i have 3 dogs that need to be put away. Keith called me, He arrived, assessed the situation and even went on my roof and was so honest with me. I told him that I was going to have them scheduled to do a cleaning on Monday but he told me I didn't need to bc my chimney was in good order and also since I had it cleaned this past November He did give me a few suggestions and tips: ~ install a "safe guard" to minimize smoke draft entering home (can be purchased at any fire place store) ~roll up some newspaper, light the tip and sweep the inside of the mouth of the fireplace to get rid of the "cold air" that has been trapped inside to minimize that smoky, thick air which was my situation ~after the fire is finished burning, close the damper door the next day ~also take 2 bricks and place them underneath the iron basket to elevate the stack of wood to have the fire burning higher and to minimize smoke from entering the house Keith, thank you for being so honest with me (and for putting up with all that crazy barking) and for sharing these tips. I had a leak in the basement around the boiler and it looked like the water was from the chimney . I called US chimney for an inspection. Richie responded quickly and showed up at my door 9am in the morning the next day. He found the leak was due to the missing flashing around the chimney (roof was done 2 months ago and the roofer forgot to install the flashing). He also suggested to replace the old lining inside the chimney because it was installed incorrectly and the material wasn't correct (from the 90s). He explained to us patiently and wasn't pushy. He quoted a reasonable price and finished to installation within 2 hours. He also cleaned all the ashes and build ups inside the chimney. Update to my original review: I was told that I should inspect my chimney prior to it's first use each winter in case animals found their way inside over the Summer/Fall. So I called US Chimney for a quote on an inspection. I figured that the price would be similar to what I paid 10 months prior or less bc the last time they did an inspection, cleaning and damper repair. They quoted me a price that was DOUBLE what I had paid less than a year ago. I asked why it was so much more than what they charged before and the woman just answered "that's how much we charge, do you want to book an appointment or not?" So long story short, I didn't book an appointment with them. Two reasons: the price for this service was outrageous and not at all competitive (which I found out later) and bc the woman who answered was extremely rude. read more

I just bought a new house. The flue in my chimney was jammed closed and huge quantities of soot kept dropping out. I called US Chimney for a quote on a repair and inspection. Someone came out the next day. He quickly fixed the jammed flue. A ton of soot dropped out which he vacuumed up leaving everything spotless. Once he was able to take a look he determined my chimney was in surprisingly good condition. I expected to pay some sort of fee for his time. Got a message back 5 minutes later. If you want a reliable company I would think twice about calling them. On Saturday Sept 7 they came by for an estimate. 10 days later I called to follow up. Spoke with the women there who apologized and said she would look into it and get back to me. She called back within an hour and apologized again. She promised an estimate would be forthcoming. They may be good, but you actually need to get them to show up, return calls (oh, we didn't call you?), and send a quote. I called, spoke with Kelly, and scheduled an appointment for someone to look at the bricks on the top of my chimney that were coming loose. The appointment was for 11-2. When I called at 4 :00 since the guy hadn't shown up yet, they said he's running late (thanks for the call). They called back and said they needed to reschedule to tomorrow, same time frame. Then next day the worker showed up at 4 (2 hours late). Since I wasn't at the house to meet him, he called me on my cell phone. He said he'd go on the roof, take pictures, and send them to me that day. I told him I wouldn't be able to see them until much later in the evening, and he said doesn't matter, call him any time. Four days later I still haven't received the pictures. I call and speak with Kelly. "what's up", is the greeting. I explain the chain of events to her again. She said, "we didn't call you yesterday". I couldn't help but say "I wouldn't be saying I haven't heard from anyone if you called me, now would I?". Kelly said that her guy was off yesterday. I said that may be true, he was supposed to email me the pictures 4 days ago, and I constantly have to keep calling. It was at this point that she began to yell at me, and tell me how busy they were and that her guy was off yesterday (I'm not sure what being off for only one day has to do with sending the pictures taken 4 days ago).
