This is my original review, which caused the comment below from one of the owners:
"Really, they deserve no stars at all!!!
I took a valuable silk robe to them. It had something spilled on it, which I pointed out carefully. I told the personable lady at the counter it was important, sentimental to me. I asked that, if they could not get the spots out to not apply any heat -- to just call me and I'd come get it and pay them for whatever they'd done. They didn't call. I couldn't tell till I got home that they ruined the robe. There was spilled food still on it. Clearly no spotting at all had been done. In addition, the silk texture had transformed from soft and delicate to hard as a result of high heat being applied to silk. That robe had been cleaned a few times previously by high quality dry cleaners in California -- always coming back perfect. There was no point in contacting Paragon because there was nothing that could be done after my treasured garment was destroyed. Learn from my mistake. Don't take anything valuable that you treasure to them."
After seeing the owner's posting I sent her this note because it bothered me that she questioned the legitimacy of my comment:
"I assure you this is legit although the incident did happen several months prior to the posting. My silk robe was ruined at your store on Old Shell Road & Upham next to Fuego in Mobile. With food spills cooked into the now hardened silk, which reduced me to tears when I discovered what had been done, close friends were told when it happened but it was months later when I thought about posting comments online to warn others. After what was done to my garment, I would be afraid to allow your business to touch it again. While it cannot be worn now, it holds much sentimental meaning to me. I would not risk more fabric destruction to the silk by additional dry cleaning errors. While I may be the first person to post a negative comment about Paragon Cleaners in Mobile online, I now know I'm one of many who have not been pleased with your dry cleaning work. Most unhappy customers simply don't return; I decided others should know what I experienced."
The owner responded with a cordial private note. They appear to be very nice people. However, there seems to be a lack of understanding about how deeply upsetting it is to have a piece of clothing ruined. Nice is lovely; excellent dry cleaning was what I needed. read more
