Hotel is located on a beautiful beach (that somewhat cluttered with a row of seaweed).
Everything is well organized, from check-in to check-out. Someone meets you at the door, grabs your bags, walks you to the concierge for check-in. They wait for you to finish your check-in (at which point if you didn't get the VIP service, the concierge will try and convince you to upgrade), and then flip though the hotel's brochures with you, showing you were to eat, where to swim, and most importantly (**sarcasm**) where to go for a time-share meeting. The meeting will be mentioned multiple times throughout your stay, especially until you get a little bit of a tan to look like you've been there for a while and you have either already attended one or refused enough times to make a habit out of it.
The organization of the hotel will remind you of a prison. When you drive in (car, shuttle bus, tour, etc), they will ask for the names/room numbers of everyone and document the number of people entering. When you leave, they'll document who's leaving and who's going where. You cannot help it if you're being driven, all drivers are very used to the well oiled practice and provide the information without any qualms. If you try to leave the premises on foot without giving them your destination, they will stop you at the door and interrogate you until you either give up and tell them where you're going or they get tired of trying to run after you to stop you (they are not allowed to touch you, so just keep walking away). Shudder to think you say you are leaving for a time-share lecture to a different hotel, I think they will tackle you to the ground, chain you and only release you when it's time to check-out.
The Expedia travel agents are very friendly, well organized, and run a mean transportation scheme. Getting from point A to point B couldn't be easier. If a driver's running late (rare), they'll call them to make sure they're on the way. The excursions are pricey, but if you book two, they'll give you a discount. They are not pushy at all, they'll make good recommendations based on what you ask them, and may provide some alternatives.
The food is good. The buffet's menu does not change, but there is a large variety of different foods to choose from, so that you don't have to eat the same thing every day even though it is available. The service is exceptional. Waiters are friendly, chatty and really care.
The restaurants for dinner are good and provide different kinds of food. Vento restaurant serves Spanish tapas, portions are very small, but very yummy, and you can order as many as you want. Bana has sushi, not great, but good enough. Market Grill turns into a Brazilian steak-house for dinner - meat is good, salads/appetizers are okay. La Perla serves okay burgers for lunch and turns into a pool-side restaurant with an American menu for dinner. And Naos is your to-go to place - that's the buffet that is open almost all hours and does't need a reservation.
There is no jacuzzi, but the infinity pools are clean and warm. The straw huts provide great protection from the sun and if you splurge and get a Cabana bed, you get fast personalized service all day and get to relax on a nice mattress. People reserve lounge chairs very early in the morning by placing hotel's towels on them. The good thing here is that no one steals your towel (which is common in most other hotels). The pool bar provides nice refreshing drinks (which are slightly watered-down version, but it may be great if you drink non-stop, like people seem to do at all-inclusive resorts). The entertainment by the pool is very limited. There is pool side dancing/aerobics for half an hour and a 10 minute game of throwing a football. The rest of the time just get your drinks refilled.
The gift shop isn't very large but it is overpriced - a can of sunscreen is $30 US. If you forget something at home, the stay will be much pricier than originally expected. They do not accept US dollars, but okay with credit cards.
The nightly entertainment is very sub-par. Not only do they not have a formal stage and seats to accommodate the number of people that want to attend (shows take place in a bar/lounge on a dance floor in front of a few couches and tables, with more than half of the guests unable to see anything because their tables are on the wrong side of the DJ station), but the quality of the shows is very amateur.
The hotel provides free wifi, however, the signal is so weak that the only place where you are really able to use your device is by the check-in counter and certain "lucky" spots by the pool. The signal is so week that even simply checking email becomes a hassle.
In general, the stay was good. People are friendly and accommodating, the food is plentiful and different, the beach is clean and warm. I would consider coming back here if they improve entertainment and relax about forcing guests to go to the time-share lecture read more
