Katie is a miracle worker! I've been getting Brazilians since I was 18 and facial waxes since 13,…read moreand let me tell you, Katie changed everything I thought I knew about waxing. Those red splotches after waxes that I thought were just part of getting waxed? Nonexistent with Katie. I am genuinely convinced she is magic because I never knew a wax could be this painless before AND after! Also as a gal who has always struggled with intense ingrown hairs, ones that doctors told me could only be fixed with laser, I was stunned when Katie took the time to get all of them out and coached me on how to prevent them in the future, truly above and beyond! She's is the most thorough esthetician I've ever been to, and she creates such a warm and welcoming environment that I am actually looking forward to my next wax!

Always looking for my go to eyebrow spot. And I think I found it!…read more Booking online was super easy and simple. I have always wanted to know what was inside that building/house especially with that gorgeous curved front door. Passed it so many times on University. Parking was easy and nice to have designated parking spots for Bare Philosophy. Walked in and had no idea that you had to take your shoes off. I get for cleanliness sake and winter bringing water/salt, but I wasn't expecting it. I walked in and noticed another patron standing inside with her socks on so I followed suit. I didn't notice behind me that they provide slides to wear after you take off your shoes. There was no staff downstairs so no one to greet me or give instructions. There was a sign that said they were short staffed and to help yourself. It was the day before Christmas Eve. Really pretty inside and welcoming. Lots of areas to look at product. There was a coffee machine. Old historical charm throughout! The other client got brought back and I just was standing around. I finally heard someone in the foyer area and was checked in at that point and brought back to a large room for my eyebrow appointment. We spoke a bit about eyebrow shape and how she likes to keep things natural/follow your natural shape. Can always take off more later if I wanted. I think my eye wax was all of five minutes. Trimming, a few strips of waxing, and then tweezing and that's it. Let me have a look in the mirror and I was happy for the most part. I should've asked to trim my eyebrows a little more. But overall content with the shape. I wish there was something to put on my skin afterwards to calm it down since I get red easily. Again, the whole process was super quick, didn't feel overly personalized with an eye brow shaping/waxing but the job got done. The staff who did my brows was very nice and we made conversation throughout my service. I felt comfortable and no pain with the waxing/tweezing. Afterwards, she checked me out and you can give a tip on a card. $20 is a fair price for an eyebrow wax, what I was paying for at another place in the area.

I was gifted a spa day for Mother's Day from my husband and son. My husband purchased a massage,…read moremanicure, and pedicure for me. When I arrived, I entered to find no one in the lobby and could not hear anyone coming my direction. I debated ringing the small bell at the front desk for two to three minutes before a woman came up to the front from the back. When I told her that I had an appointment, she gave me one page of paperwork to fill out. A man then came up front at about the same time as I was finishing the paperwork and took me back to a massage room. He informed me that he would be performing my massage and went over my paperwork with me. He told me that he would be giving me a "medical massage" that was between a "chiropractic massage and a regular massage, but not like a deep tissue massage". The massage itself was decent, though it left much to be desired. At times, I felt as if there were no pressure at all. The ambiance of the massage was mediocre; directly across from the room I was in was a laundry room where constant noise could be heard from an unbalanced washing machine and one of the employees was banging around what sounded like metal bowls multiple times. All in all, I wasn't thrilled with the massage but it wasn't the worst I've had either. After my massage, I was taken to another area for my pedicure. There were two chairs available and I was directed to sit in the chair on the left. The chairs were equipped to do massage but were extremely outdated or not taken care of, as the remote had holes in almost every button. The massage feature did work so I was glad to use it. My pedicure was given by a woman, Liz, who did an excellent job at the pedicure. The water temperature was perfect and she spent as much time as it was required to remove any calluses or dead skin. She was very chatty, which I personally found to be uncomfortable and not relaxing. I prefer to be left alone during my spa visits. Even when I pulled out my phone to look busy she continued talking. I did not want to be mean and ask her to let me relax so I endured the chattiness. Liz did not wear a mask at all during my spa visit. I was offered food and drink multiple times, which I declined as I was not comfortable eating and drinking in this situation. I thought it was somewhat weird to be offered food while sitting in the pedicure chair. It did not seem very clean. I don't want to eat in a room where people have had their feet scrubbed and filed. I was offered food and drink at least a dozen times, which definitely got annoying after a while. After my pedicure I was then brought to the front of the building for a manicure. Liz also performed my manicure. This time was even more uncomfortable, as Liz was less than 2 ft away from me and I could feel her breathing on my hands without a mask. I likely should have asked her to put one on, but I did not want to be confrontational so I just wore my mask and endured it. The conversation during my manicure was very unpleasant. Liz said multiple things that I didn't agree with and I didn't find to be professional. One example was that Liz started talking to me about "fake news" and how we can't trust the media. Her conversation bordered on political conversation, and I am definitely tired of politics. I don't want to talk about politics during my spa day where I'm supposed to be relaxing. Overall, I didn't enjoy my spa day and left a bit disappointed. When I discussed my experience with my husband, I was shocked to find out that he had spent $240 on the services. I do not feel that it was worth it at all. When viewing the prices on the website I am unsure how he was given a total of $240. The manicure listed on the website states that it includes many things that I did not receive. The website states that the only manicure offered is their signature manicure. It says that an elbow exfoliation is included. I did not receive this. It says that a hand peel is included. I did not receive this. It says that a skin and spot lightening treatment for hands and elbow is included. I did not receive this. I'm unsure which pedicure was purchased, as I did not receive the services listed in the more expensive option. I am also unsure of which massage I received, as again, the services that I received did not align with any of the listed massages. I personally felt that my pedicure should have been valued at about $30 and the manicure about $25. I often receive massages at other spas, and don't think that this massage was worth more than $100. I'm frustrated that my husband put so much effort into my Mother's Day gift and that Purity Spa left me so disappointed. I definitely would not recommend Purity Spa in the future.
