I am extremely disappointed with my experience. For curly cuts, clients are required to come with freshly washed hair and no product, which meant I left my house with my hair a giant fuzz ball from the lack of product with the expectation of going straight from my hair appointment to work. An hour before my appointment, I received a call that it was canceled. Not only was this incredibly inconvenient, but it left me already out of the house, dressed for work, and having to go back home to completely start over and shower again. The lack of consideration for the impact on clients' time and schedules is unacceptable. I won't be back and do not recommend going to see danyelle unless you want to waste your time. read more

I was able to get in quickly as I decided at the last minute to see if I could get my hair done for an event and luckily Holly had one opening. I got a blowout and style and she did a great job! My hair is very fine and the waves she put in my hair loosened but survived throughout the night. She listened to what I wanted and was very nice, and the cost was fair and reasonable. The atmosphere of the salon and her presence were actually calming so it was a great experience overall. She also introduced me to a Pureology shampoo and it smelled so good! read more

I HATE MY HAIR!! The color is faded and gross, you can see my roots from BEFORE I went for my color and my cut looks stupid STILL! NEVER going back here, WORST way to spend $115! I have gone to BORICKS and gotten a hair cut I actually LOVED for $18 post tip! And coloring? I got the color I wanted for $20! So why did I pay $115 for something I did NOT ask for, effed up bangs and my hair lays funny, horrible color that is NOT vibrant at ALL after not even 4 weeks and lower self esteem, when I could have paid $40 to be completely happy? I would give this business 0 stars if I could and I wish I had the guts to walk in there and ask for a refund because I am OUTRAGED!!! DONT go here I'm pretty sure the rest of them were paid to leave good reviews because my experience is worse than when I went to a cosmetology school and they burned my scalp with bleach. So happy I found this place! After salon hopping for years, I've finally settled down with Debi at La Marquise. First started coming here because my mom discovered this place, and now, since I live in Chicago, I wait until I go back to MI to get my hair done here because I like it so much. Debi is super friendly and actually gives you the cut & color that you want! I've never been unhappy with a cut, style, or color she's given me. She styled my hair for my bridal shower, and I would have had her do my wedding hair if not for the distance. Since my mom and I are loyal customers, she always gives us a break on the price too. Salon is in a great location (downtown Rochester), but the parking lot can get kind of tight. I've always managed to find a spot because the traffic flow is pretty regular, so you should be fine. They also offer other services like nails and waxing, and there's a really cute & trendy accessories boutique inside the salon. You should definitely check this place out! read more

I had a haircut with Alex twice. She was really nice! I liked she listened and answered to all of my questions and concerns. Nice environment and in general, people is nice. I liked the service and prices are reasonable. They do not call to remind your appointment, which I think would be a plus. Was in town for a wedding. Based on yelp reviews, I picked this place for an up-do. I got a lot of compliments on my hair. The 4 stars is because while everyone else thought I looked amazing, there were some details in my hair that I noticed were missed. Nothing tragic or noticeable to anyone else but me. It's just that with past-updos I've just stared and stared at myself in the mirror shocked at my new gorgeousness, and for this one, I didn't do that so much. read more

This was my first time going here. I got a trim and conditioning treatment. Alex cut my hair. She was awesome. The prices were very reasonable! Especially for the area. Everyone was really nice. The receptionist even walked out to direct me when I called to tell her I couldn't find it! It's in part of a little strip, I wouldn't even call it that, more like a building, and it was directly behind the Hungry Howie's so I kept walking past when my phone said I was there and couldn't find it. This salon has forever lost the business from my mom and I. We both went to Stephanie Rae for colors and haircuts. 2 days ago I went in for an Ombre hair color and left with green, grey, orange and brassy blonde streaks from root to tip. The best part is, she told me to come back in a month to do the actual Ombre. And also took a "before" picture with no "after" picture.. She knows she messed up. Salons should do what you request the DAY OF. After we left, I sat in the car so upset and crying, my hair was ruined and she spilled who knows what on my sweater... So far, no refund of money and I had my hair redone at another salon and now looks gorgeous. If you want your hair, loss of money and clothing to be ruined go here.. read more

She is a friend of the family and I had her cut my hair about 6 years ago and have made trips back to Michigan just for her to cut and highlight my hair. My Mom and I popped over to La Marquise Hair and Nail Salon after driving around downtown Rochester for 30 minutes trying to see what was open the day after Thanksgiving. We wanted to try a new spot rather than the same old nail place my Mom usually goes to. We got in at La Marquise and had a great, relaxing afternoon! Cathy is an amazing nail tech--she gives a great mani/pedi! Very nice, funny, and fun. I recommend her services! My daughter and I went in for scheduled up-doos for a wedding and the receptionist treated us like dirt. She was snotty as she continued to give us every hard time she could give us accusing us of not washing our hair or having appointments. I am mexican/american born and raised in Michigan and have never been treated like that by a service oriented business. The stylist apologized for the receptionist's behavior but I feel that people should know what to expect from their receeptionist. read more

I just had a fabulous experience today at la marquise ! My colorist , Kristina, was accommodating and very talented and sweet. My hair coloring took longer than normal , due to the fact that the older color wouldn't lift . The staff were very sweet and apologetic about the experience , which didn't bother me in the least . The stylists are very experienced and you can tell as soon as you leave from your first appointment ! They know what your hair needs ! The salon also has a great selection of hair products , many sinks and driers for multiple people getting their hair done, a nice nail tech area , and a small part in the back of the shop is dedicated to unique jewelry and accessories for sale . Receptionists were helpful and so was the owner , Rhonda, who greeted me . I will definitely be continuing to get my hair and nails done at this hidden gem. read more

I am shocked to see bad reviews of La Marquise! My family and I have used this Salon for almost 25 years. We are all different ages with different styles and each of us have been thrilled with the level of service and professionalism. The stylists are constantly attending shows and seminars to refine their skills and provide you with the most up to date techniques. Their level of skill when it comes to coloring is phenomenal. I get compliments on my cut and color every where I go - regardless of whether I am wearing my hair short or long. They teach you styling technique so when you go home you can continue to style your hair how they have. They recommend products but not in a pushy way. The owner is one of the sweetest women I have ever met and makes it a point to stop and speak to guests. The receptionists have always been kind and helpful. Everyone is so accommodating - if you don't like something about your hair they will fix it. Not to mention their prices are great compared to other salons in the area. Not a one of them can give you the same haircut twice in a row. Last time I was there, the hair on one side got cut noticeably shorter than the other. I am off to a new salon today to try to get it fixed. I would go back and complain, but I don't trust her to fix it. The last three haircuts I got from my stylist, I had to go back to get fixed. My mother has been going here for years, also taking me. In recent years, whenever I went, I was never satisfied. Only once do I remember being satisife do with a haircut from here, but the lady that cut it said to come back when I wanted a "real" haircut (I only got the back and neck cleaned up.) the last time I went, the lady did not listen to what I wanted, so the front was all messed up. La Marquise has been in "my family" for over 20 years, with the expection of my husband, the rest of us girls have been going there since my daughter were 4, now they are 24 and still without a doubt l-o-v-e Terri Mero, Susan, Gayle, Agnes you name her, she is the best. What can I say about the one and only Rhonda, she has time to give you honest, straight forward advise on anything and when she says: "I'll get back to you on that", you bet she will as well as the rest of the staff. If there is some sick we send a 'get well card" a passing of a loved one, we're there for them! and viceversa. One day the receptionist offered to pick me up at the auto mechanic because I didn't have a ride back so early in the morning!
