I am not one to ever leave a review unless it's positive but I am so unhappy with the service I received here. I came in for a full set... and got the worst set of nails I've ever received. They're all crooked, uneven, thin, and my cuticles weren't even touched. I have dents and air bubbles on almost every nail. I tried to speak up multiple times and even started filing my own nails since they were coming out so uneven. I asked them to be shaped coffin or almond and was told "I don't know how to do any shape other then square" and "I never learned how to use a drill"... then why are you doing nails? I'm only giving this salon 2 stars based on pricing! Their website pricing "90 and up" is very deceiving. I have been to many +10 salons in the area and have been charged for cut/color/highlights from 90-150. I was charged 238 dollars for the services. Please do yourself a favor and get a price at a consultation prior to your visit and have them stick to that price. It sounds like others in the reviews did get a price and the stylist still charged more. Because other than that the stylist and haircut/color turned out great. I did email the salon without a response as well. EDIT: I visited 3 salons after Andrew Marke. I wanted to get a free consultation (I say free because I believe Andre Marke may charge) and all 3 salons were in disbelief I paid this much money. Relocating from a different state is hard especially when you need to find a hair dresser after using one for 15 years straight. I was so nervous to have someone do my highlights because I was afraid of the color not coming out right. After letting my highlights grow out 10 months, I finally had Ashley do my hair after seeing her work on 2 other girls in the salon. Not only did she nail the color (blonde) without any brassiness the first time, the cut/style she gave me off the pics I showed her was exactly what I wanted. I finally look like my usual self again. I also use Lisa Marie for pink & white acrylics after trying several places who couldn't get it right. They literally show up with two people to do hair and makeup for 12 women. They showed up late. Everyone hated there hair. They had to redo everyone's hair multiple times. Some women had to redo their own hair, cause they still couldn't get it right. That left no time to do anyone's makeup. With that, they made the bride 30 minutes late for her wedding. I asked the hairdresser for a traditional bob haircut with heavy highlights in the top and light brown tint on the rest. What I got was a semi-bob with an extra layer in the middle of the back of my head (weird) and hardly any highlights and dark brown hair. The hairdresser couldn't even style my hair. To add to my disappointment, this salon charges $50 more than any other salon I have ever been to. I would definitely not recommend this salon to anyone. read more

I booked this salon for my wedding day. I went to the hairdresser recommended to me about 6 weeks before hand to try him out, he did a good job, a few little minor things I didn't like about the cut / color, but all in all good job. So I then booked him for my trial hair and make up for my wedding, and for a total of 4 people to have hair styled for the day of the wedding, and for my make up. Went to the trail day and that went smoothly... Unfortunately the day of my wedding, not so smooth. The day before the appointment they called to confirm it and had 2 of the appointments at the wrong start time, a full hour past the proper start time. I told them that needed to be fixed and what time we needed to be there, the girl did not seem to thrilled to help, and frankly I don't think she did anything about it. Then the day of the wedding we showed up at the time we were scheduled to be there, 9:45 am. No one was there. At 10 am someone came and he let himself in and left us standing outside for another 30 minutes, when at that time (45 minutes past my appointment time) we let ourselves in. The man that was there said that he was trying to call to see why no one was there. I told him I needed to get started on everything because if no one's going to be there I'd have to leave now to go home and attempt to do my own hair. He didn't really seem to care that this was my wedding day or that there was no one there at the scheduled time. I left the salon at 10:45 am to go home and do my own hair and makeup, for me and the three girls with me. At around noon, the stylist that was suppose to do my hair and make up called me and told me he was coming to my house to do everything for me. I had already done my makeup, but he did do my hair and my maid of honor's hair, for free... that was very nice of the stylist (who overslept) but I was very dissapointed in the lack of professionalism of the man who opened the store that day. I was an hour and 15 late to my wedding, not the start to the day that I wanted. And never recieved an apology from the salon. I tried to give them a second chance and scheduled an appointment for my son to get his haircut and they screwed up that appointment time too, I even repeated it 3 times when I made it. He ended up with a different stylist then who we scheduled with and a bad cut too. NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN. read more

Purchased a groupon and decided to give this salon a try. I called and made a appointment for a cut & blow dry for a Saturday wedding I was attending. When I called for the appointment I informed the receptionist that I had a groupon and requested a stylist that I had read good reviews. The receptionist tried setting me up with a stylist named Rita saying that the one I requested was booked that morning but did have a 2:00 opening. I decided to go ahead and cut it close with the 2:00 appointment for the girl I requested. Saturday morning I receive a message asking if I can come in a hour later because they were running behind but no mention of changing stylist. When I arrived at 3:00 and said I had a appointment with the girl I requested the receptionist informed me that they switched me to Rita because she is the only one that accepts Groupon. I ended missing the wedding ceremony to have my hair done by a girl that I could have had a appointment with that morning if the receptionist would have informed me in the first place that she was the only one that would accept groupon. When I told the girl at the counter that she just said "oh well, sorry". Rita was very nice but I don't think she was very experienced. I feel that this salon was very dishonest with me and if they were upfront in the when I first called I could have made my decision at that time whether I wanted to book or not. read more

I was happy to try this salon again, despite the high costs of the services, which exceeded what I typically pay at a high end salon by 50%. I was charged more than I was initially told when I called to book by 30.00 and was furious when I saw the sign on the desk hidden behind several products that tips aren't permitted on credit/debit cards. My stylist, Natalie did an amazing job and was very personable. She wanted to know exactly what my needs were. She was great, but it would be tough to ever want to go back. She deserved a tip and I did not carry cash with me. I was told by the receptionist that "there is an ATM you may use to pay the tip". Knowing it would cost $6.00 additional, I was annoyed enough to want to leave and walk to Comerica to pay them the fee, as I don't bank with them either, just for the principle. If you own a business, expect to incur costs. I would say just put those costs for credit card fees back into your service price, however, the cost of your services is much higher than most salons I called. It was in poor taste to half display the sign and then refer me to the ATM you utilize to make a little more money off of your customers. Some may deduct those amounts from a tip. Some may leave without another option not knowing this is your procedure and the business doesn't lose - the stylist does. This to me says your owner has no respect for the customer or it's staff. I've been going to this place to have my eyebrows waxed by Maria for 3 years. Trusted her and never had a problem. Unfortunately, she no longer works there. So. I had to see Mia. I was reluctant at first but considered on giving her a try. She seemed professional and experienced since she mentioned that she's been working for the company for a while now. Well, she did a TERRIBLE job! My eyebrows were so uneven! My left eyebrow is like half of the length of my right. And that's not even the worst part. She knew that she made a mistake but she didn't acknowledge it. It's protocol that right after the waxing, they give you a mirror to see if you like the job they did. But she didn't because she knew that she did a terrible job. And that to me is the most disappointing part. So unprofessional! It's shocking! You just lost a client. read more

Been going to Salon for many years. My review is in regards to buying products and returns. They now sell more and claim they are just like an Ulta store. Problem is, I just learned the Salon will not allow you to return any items if you are not satisfied. Not even give you a credit. I have never heard of this. If you were to buy an item as a gift and the person didn't like it or it isn't suitable for them, that's too bad. I find this to be poor customer service. At least when you buy something at Ulta stores or even most Salons you are able to return it if you are not satisfied. Even if product has been used. Think twice before you buy anything from there. I recently visited this salon because one of my friends suggested we go for a bridal party. We both got our hair and makeup done by idiots . My hair was ok at first but she barley used any hairspray and my hair got flat within a hour. The makeup experience was horrible, the worst I have ever experienced in my life. Cheap makeup like NYC and elf were used with DIRTY brushes!! My eyes looked horrible. I wanted a soft simple winged liner(which they can't do for shit) and my whole eyelid ended up turning black and it was soo uneven. She didn't put no lip products on my lips and she took face pictures of me which made me feel super uncomfortable. It looked like a blind meth addict did my makeup. Plus she over charged me big time. I was referred to the salon by a friend. She kind of warned me of a few things but she said the stylist do a great job. So I decided to go....well let's just say she was right, but there are some things that I think the salon needs to improve immediately from a clients prospective. 1. The salon is disgusting! The shampoo area smelled of mold. 2. The receptionists do not know what they are doing. They didn't know who my appointment was with and when I called to book, they had me on hold for a long time. 3. When I go to a salon I want to relax....there was such obnoxious laughing going on I actually said something to my stylist and she said I know I'm so sorry I will let the manager know. 4. A lot of the employees made me feel very very uncomfortable. I felt like they we really staring at me and my stylist every time they would walk by. I'm a very observant person in my surroundings and I heard a lot of talking going on bashing other employees. To me that is just irresponsible. They were literally making fun of another employee the entire time. I actually felt bad for her.The environment as a whole was not a very good vibe at all. If you ask me I probably will not recommend this salon to anyone. I want to go and relax and enjoy my experience, but in this salon you cannot. My hair turned out wonderful and I was very pleased. It is just unfortunate that I probably will not be back due to the uncomfortably/obnoxious behavior going on. As a business owner myself, if my employees acted the way some of these employees did they would be terminated. In all honesty I'd rather go to a small salon and be able to relax and not feel like I am in high school again. I should start of by saying that everyone here is really nice... however that does not make up for the fact that I now have a mullet. Am I exaggerating? Perhaps, a bit. But the shortest layer of my hair hits at my ears and the longest layer goes past my collarbone. It looks mullet in my mind. I was none to crazy about my color either. My stylist showed me a couple colors from her book and I showed her a couple of colors from pictures I brought in... and I still ended up with too dark hair. Could it be that my follicles are fried and absorbing soaking up too much pigment? I don't know, that's not my job! It's my stylists job and I wish she would have taken the condition of my hair into consideration. Some other things that I was none too happy about- my manicure started chipping the day I got it, my highlights weren't the color I was hoping (they turned out copper, not caramel), my makeup job was a bit too extreme (more blending, please!) and the bathroom doubles as a storage closet. Also, when I called the salon about my too dark 'do, the receptionist suggested that I buy Prell shampoo to help strip the color out. When I went back for highlights to lighten the color (because I was not satisfied with the job the Prell did) my stylist said to throw the rest of the bottle out when I got home because the Prell would ravage my already tattered tresses. I was really impressed by the professionalism, my pedicure and customer service, but that's not enough to get me to go back. read more

I have been going to Andrew Marke Salon since they opened over ten years ago and were only 1/3 the size they are now. I called yesterday to schedule an appointment for today. Today I received a phone call from the salon telling me that my hair dresser Robin was "home sick" with her child who, due to her illness, could not go to daycare on today's date. I returned the phone call and changed the appointment to Kristin, as Robin was not in the salon. While at the salon this afternoon, I saw Robin there cutting hair. If she did not have any appointments available, fine. That's understandable. Just do not schedule an appointment and then call me while at work and blatantly lie to me, a loyal customer. Not only was I lied to, the hair cut received was incredibly sub par. I'm disgusted that the lousy hair cut cost as much as it did. You get what you pay for, and typically in fine paying $45 for a hair cut, but I'm fine paying that much when I'm pleased with the services provided. For the services today, I'm appalled I was charged so much, lied to, and shuffled between stylists. I'm upset that I gave an unethical salon so much of my hard-earned money over the years. I went to the Andrew Marke Salon in Macomb in early May. I left out literally in tears. I went in with hair past my shoulders and walked out with a chopped bob just below my ears that I DID NOT ask for. I showed a picture to my stylist (Nicole) of a girl with short hair explaining that I just liked her face framing and that I wanted to keep my length. She seemed to agree and said that she pictured me with "shoulder-length" hair and I thought we were on the same page. She gave me a few highlights, which were decent using the painting method. However, she literally chopped my hair all at once without warning and then had to make the rest of my hair match---and with NO face framing at all!! I wasn't charged for the haircut but was still charged for the highlights---which was insane as unhappy as I was. I looked hideous and still am having a hard time with the cut that is NOT appropriate for my face shape. I went to another salon a couple of weeks ago and they did what they could to fix it but every day I am waking up to this crazy hair (or lack thereof) and felt that I needed to put this out there. I see on the Google reviews, they have 4.8 stars and it seems to be a different story altogether on this site. Please beware of this salon and the staff's inability or lack of desire to listen to what you are asking for. And be extremely cautious when presenting a picture as they seem to only take in bits and pieces and form their own ideas. Any decent & experienced stylist would have started cutting the length little by little to confirm with the client that this is what they are looking for---she just chopped it off extremely short and continued from there. When I told her I was not happy, she seemed genuinely concerned and said she wasn't going to charge me for the cut but did nothing else to help me out. This was an important family get-together weekend for me (the week I went to this salon) and she told me where I could go for extension pieces but that was about it. I want to like this salon, I do. However, I always go and tell my stylist Elizabeth that first and foremost, I want my hair healthy. This is the second time that I left and it's fried!! I spent $130 plus $40. in tips to her and her assistant, to have a terrible end effect. At the end they blowdry and flat iron it, so I had no clue it was fried! Then she proceeds to tell me at the end that, "my hair looks great, healthy!" I know she had to know it was damaged because you can literally see where chunks of my hair are broken off where the foils were. I also have orange spots, white spots...ridiculous!!! I can understand mistakes, but her telling me that my hair looked healthy? Really?! I hate being lied too. I just now spent $85. on conditioners to help nurse it back to good health again.
