Not too local to me, but not too far away either. They have a bistro, pokies, bar, accommodation and bottle shop. I did work experience here a few years ago in the kitchen because I knew the head chef. It was a good week's worth of gaining culinary knowledge, serving senior's lunch roasts and seeing behind the scenes of a popular suburban pub. The food is real cheap, but the atmosphere isn't too great either. The pub is a little run down, which kind of suits the crowd. Wouldn't make too much of an effort to go here for a nice dinner, but if you live in the area and want a cheap pub meal, then this place is fine.

Meat draws. $3.50 happy hour. More events than you can shake a stick at. The Paradise is popular with the locals!! The pokies must subsidize the bistro because the meals are CHEAP; lunch is only $9.90 and dinner, $13.90, including a decent salad bar. Delicious garlic bread, snitty is an OK size and they do a slick job of toasting the burger buns. Quality is on par with other pubs that charge more. The bistro even has it's own playground for the kids! Brews on Tap (Parentheses for out-of-towers): -Tooheys Old -Superdry -Drapht (Westend Drapht) -Pale (Coopers Pale) -TED (Tooheys Extra Dry) -Hahn Premium Light Weekly Events: -Monday night: kids eat free -Tuesday: trivia lunch, kids eat free dinner -Wednesday: snitty night -Thursday night: trivia -Sunday night: roast and dessert, $12

Two grips however it doesn't have a pool, and the roof view to the west looks at skyscrapers and roof tops. However if you are an early riser check out the roof top at sunrise. Ohhhhh two more negatives sorry when you are pay $400 a night for your room the least they could do is actually make you a fresh cup of coffee. UNFORTUNATELY! The have one of those automatic push the button and the machine pours out brown water with no flavor! If you ask for a real cup of coffee they want to charge you more for it. Seriously $400 dollars for my room and I still have to pay for my coffee! So I giving it a very weak 4 star's just like there weakest coffee possible! Yuk!

Ok, maybe I'd throw in the word comfort too, for this hotel had the most comfortable bed of my entire two week trip. Yup, I was as snug as a little joey in his mother's pouch. Oh, and the carpeted floors were simply Heaven with so much spongy padding underneath the carpet that I felt like I was walking on a cloud. I swear this experience was just like taking a trip to a spa, and it had me crying, "Why can't my carpets at home be this awesome!" Finally, the location of this one rocks!! The whole area near the hotel is loaded with bars and restaurants of just about every style--why I even found a sushi conveyor-belt restaurant around the corner. Kanpai! Yes Sir, whatever language you want to say it in---Kanpai, Cheers, Hooray, or Good On YA ----The Majestic Roof Garden Hotel is a winner.

I always mix business and pleasure when I travel. My room here was delightful. Large main room, separate bedroom. Bathroom down the hall. Much larger than a normal hotel room. Kitchenette with fridge and microwave. I would have preferred a work table, but the bar-height workspace was large and worked very well. The overall feel was extremely comfortable and it was easy to just settle in and feel at home. The staff were great, especially at the bar. Bar/dining area opens to the sidewalk seating. In October the weather was pretty perfect. It took me a full day to understand the bartending staff. The Adelaide accent is a bit stronger than Melbourne or Sydney. But they are very patient with Americans who ask for everything to be repeated three times. I stayed four nights and had an excellent experience. Would recommend it and would stay here again.

Before any other Yelpers start waxing on about their opinion compared to mine, yes there are some nice places, but I think in the city the nicest places are the historical ones that have been made over - until you stay over at Mantra you can't compare. Big rooms, very lush, plush and highly relaxing. Of course you pay a high price, but compared to other capital cities the price is relatively good; it is high for Adelaide. But expect great service plus, and great rooms plus, and you may be visiting, but end up staying in your room the whole time you are here, because it is nice.

Paul the charming fellow behind the bar may…read morewell show you his boobs, but I'd be a bit slow to ask him; I'd wait until he offered, and since it was such a cold day in Hell you may decide it's something worth peeking at - otherwise - look some place else for that sort of thing because somehow the Squatters has managed to remain poker machine free and old school bar wise - one of the few and totally kick ass because of it. What an eclectic bar it is - they have a Facebook page, the Karaoke is on Wednesday night, Red Uncensored and Terri-Louise Kelly may be reciting poetry on one night a month along with plenty of other local poets and there are bands on a Thursday and Sunday night. You can get nosh a la pub for around ten dollars, nothing too fancy but it will fill your guts and the locals will fill your head full of fun stories and strange sayings. This is an old school pub with a decent drive through and a pretty good car park. There is an outdoor area for the smokers and you would go a long way to find such an easy going and chilled out venue that deals in rock and roll as well as poetry. I quite like it because it hasn't got trendy, and it is not trying to get trendy. Who needs to be trendy when you have all the poets in Adelaide massing in the back room and waxing lyrical every few weeks - that says it all. Ever met a poet in a pub who didn't have a full glass and an eye for another?

I have to say though Paul has done wonders and I'm very pleased to have been associated with him in the days of live music at Brompton in the House of Bedlam. Paul is destined for great things and when I last visited the Squatters I could see that it is and will always be a very popular venue for Adelaide's live music and I'm sure national live music. Possibly international.... So well done Paul.
