Totally misleading photos of the rooms And extremely expensive for a room with no natural light, no window - as advertised and no outlook - as advertised! This business are Highway robbers and staff are ditzy, food disgusting and over priced and management arrogant and beyond caring about the lack of customer satisfaction. Rooms also lack privacy and you can hear people in the next door rooms - nothing worse!! Save your hard earned cash and go somewhere worth the money that's true to what they advertise their accomodation to be because Mt Lofty House is not as advertised! read more

Update 3/1/17 The Hotel is renovated even better than before. We stayed the night in a standard room with was simple but nice. (No bottle opener!!!) Noisey wedding guests no doubt drunk on the free alcohol were an issue as was the ever hot/cold surging shower in the morning . Unfortunately the breakfast was terrible. We ordered the full breakfast and the buffet. It's hard to believe how bad it was. Old fruit, rock hard sliced avocado, terrible flat white, empty juices bottles, packet mueslis, 5 people always crowding around one toaster. The told us the breakfast wasn't included in room when it was etc. Hardy's Verandah restaurant was smoke & mirrors chef's ego minuscule portions. Go to the Magill Estate for a great degustation or to Maximillians restaurant down the road. Since the Mecure group took over Mt Lofty House has been renovated and the grounds are amazing. We went there for Xmas lunch- 7 star views 7 stars for being open! 5 star grounds (this place would be great for a wedding!) Great friendly service Good entertainment Nice layout in general in the beautifully perched rear function room with valley view. Full points for not kicking us out early. The food wasn't as it should be for the price. The small sizes were fine for a lunch but for the price it wasn't great. Very average pre prepared out of the packet/jar antipasto with supermarket quality prosciutto etc which most people didn't really eat. Despite the presentation , the rest of the meal was average. The eighties pub 'desert buffet' queue visually ruined the day, they should have just done a selection for each table and moved to quality not quantity. read more

Wow, can't fault this place! Came to Mount Lofty House for a friend's 70th and everything was perfect. After checking into our rooms we were treated to drinks and canapés on the balcony. The mushroom arancini were really yummy. We then moved into the dining room for a 3 course meal. The food was delicious! Being pregnant I had to ask for my steak to be cooked well done (menu stated all steaks would be medium) they were very accommodating and my steak was cooked to perfection. The shallot and carrot puree with it was absolutely amazing! After dinner we retired to our room for the night. The room was very large and decorated to suit the heritage of the building. I can honestly say that the bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! In the morning we went down to breakfast. Continental breakfast was included in our stay, or a cooked breakfast was available for an extra charge. I normally love a hot breakfast, but looking at the options available for the continental I don't see why you'd need anything else. I had some toast, cereal, pastries and tried a variety of juices which they had in cute individual-sized jugs. The view from the breakfast room was stunning (actually the view from every window in the place was stunning). Honestly everything about our stay there was great, I'm already trying to think of excuses to be able to go back there! read more

Opulent to say the least, but then that's what you really want during pre and post wedding celebrations, especially if it's your wedding! MLH took care of me personally very well the night before, as I spied the grounds in preparation for my future bride/wife/queen-to-be to join me the night after, once we'd tied the knot. A very straighforward no-stress check-in, followed by a quick walk of the grounds to get my bearings and grab some fresh air. The grounds here are spectacular and if you are lucky enough to be able to stay here, even if only for one night, get here as early as possible and check out all of the gardens and views. A true Adelaide Hills marvel. As for the room, it was a basic, standard no fuss room for me the first night (not that I needed 'fuss' on my last night as a bachelor), but the fittings, the decor, the airconditioning (it was a warm night!), the bed and the bath all screamed class. It was a true pleasure to stay here on my own, and even more so when I was a married man the next night. The view from our wedding night room is in one of the photos. So cool to be able to stay here. We had an uber-decadent dinner the night after the wedding night, with a couple of delicious starters, the full chateaubriand for mains, Mclaren Vale red wine and a really nice dessert with 'congratulations' scrawled in chocolate on the plate. A classy touch by the chef - Thank you sir! There is plenty to see around MLH too, including the full Mount Lofty view of the city of Adelaide and its surrounds just a few hundred metres up the road, Cleland Wildlife park a couple of minutes drive away, plenty of walking/hiking trails and tonnes of restaurants/hotels/cafes/other sights to see within a 20 minute drive. If you're looking for a romantic, classy, elegant, peaceful hotel with amazing views, great service and beautiful food, look no further than Mount Lofty House. You won't regret it! read more

My partner and I went for a meal at the restaurant for our anniversary and were not overly impressed for the price. We found ourselves comparing it to Windy Point Restaurant which we had also been to recently and Mount Lofty House didn't measure up unfortunately. The staff were polite and prompt, but did not seem completely trained in fine dining waiting. It was nice that they were concerned how we were enjoying everything but the constant asking every 5 minutes started to get annoying when you are trying to have a romantic meal. Staff's appearance was also not as neat as Windy Point (where everyone was matching perfectly with hair neat and pulled back). At Mount Lofty House staff seemed to look a bit casual. The food was average. The standout for me was the tempura zucchini flowers for entree - which was quite a big size for an entree (maybe even a bit too big). My main of duck was a bit dry but still cooked nicely. It was also kind of annoying the prices for some things were not printed on the menu such as the desserts. Would be easier to print the prices rather than have patrons ask. To be honest it feels a bit pretentious, giving off the vibe of "if you have to ask you can't afford it" from staff. Overall was a let down for an anniversary dinner. Would have rather gone to the local pub. read more

Just stayed a quick night. Room was comfortable, clean and accommodating. Grounds were gorgeous, beautiful views from the restaurant. We didn't stay for breakfast. Very nice hotel. read more
