There's no doubt having kids changes you, your lifestyle and your idea of a good time…read more Before having our daughter, my husband and I scoffed at the notion of spending time in a holiday resort in our own city, however, my sister-in-law decided for her 40th birthday, she would like to spend the weekend at the Adelaide Shores Resort with family and friends in attendance, so arrangements were made, the car loaded, trailer attached and off we set on the 30.6km road trip to our destination. We had booked a Dunes cabin which indeed faced the dunes of West Beach and the toddler took great delight in watching the steady stream of runners and cyclists along the beach path. There were other cabin options available; this was the cheapest 2 bedroom option that included a private bathroom within the cabin itself. Others offered either shared amenities blocks or a private "en suite" (external) bathroom. There was a minimum 2-night booking and we paid $176 per night for Friday and Saturday. The cabin was clean, basic, maybe a little 90s in terms of décor but the linen was nice and it had all we needed for our stay in terms of utensils, crockery, cutlery, cleaning products and a decent sized fridge. As we had decided to be reasonably self-sufficient and not buy meals apart from Saturday dinner, we had brought our own barbecue (gas only, no charcoal or open flame), loads of food, an outdoor setting and the toddler's highchair which we set up in the lawned area outside our cabin. The resort has a huge variety of activities and is well kept with plenty of green lawned areas, shaded picnic gazebos with barbecues, two pools, a Splash Zone, several playgrounds including an air conditioned indoor toddler room, a games room, jumping pillows, pedal cars, bikes and go karts for hire and more. All this and the back gate of the resort (about 10 metres from our door) leads you right onto the beach. Unfortunately the gate closes at 9pm which was a little early. I'd have liked a late night stroll on the sand but we didn't get the time. The resort has a great family friendly vibe and other guests were pleasant and friendly, there was no noise or antisocial behaviour that we observed. I enjoyed being away from home, the resort facilities and the beach but now I feel like I need a real holiday!

I have stayed there twice. It can be difficult to secure a reservation at a good rate but if…read morebooked, the accommodations are quite nice and there is a lot to do on property. I have stayed there as a single traveler but I can see that it is probably very nice for families with the on property activities. It is also a short walk to the beach which is nice. Generally cars can be driven very close to the cabins so it is convenient for luggage. The kitchens are well stocked with equipment. On my first stay I needed something not in the cabin and when I asked at the front desk they were quite helpful and found the item that I was able to use on my stay. I suppose the reason it did not get a higher rating is it is possible to get apartment style accommodations at a similar price a couple blocks away on along the beach which provides a nicer view.

20/03/2022 at approx 4:30pm i was sitting in front of my unit (69) at the marion holiday park. I…read morewas watching my son and some other kids playing in the indoor pool. I noticed 2 adult females walking fast towards where my son was swimming. One of the ladies starting yelling at the kids and the kids got out of the pool all except my son. She then proceeded towards me at the fence got within 10 cm of my face cursing me to get my son out of the pool or she was going to yank him out. I was behind a glass fence feeling threatened by both woman standing so close. The woman then said remove your f.... kid from the pool or i f....... will. She then stormed off towards my 5 year old son grabbed him by the swim vest and yanked him out of the pool. I walked as fast as I could (being 8.5 months pregnant) towards the woman as she was pulling my son out of the water while yelling at him. I then called the reception and requested someone to come sort out this issue. I then proceeded to grab my sons hand as the other adult was yelling at me as I was also by this stage furious as she put her hands on my child. I went back to my unit with my son. The groundsperson and his daughter showed up by this time i was extremely upset. After a conversation, this groudsperson (Christian?) gave me some options 1.mediation with the other parent, 2. go on with my time at the park or 3. get a full refund if thats what i decided when he returned from talking to the other parent. My partner arrived just as both were offering me the options so my partner, myself, groundsperson and his daughter all heard the options. Christian left to speak to other parent came back to me about 5:30pm my partner and I agreed to refund and started packing up. I then asked christian so your the groundsperson "who is the manager that is on now I can speak to"? and Christian replied i am the manager on tonight I went the the front office which i was served by June and Christian was there. Christian told June about the refund and June then turned to me and said no problems but being after 10am I cant authorise the processing it needs to be done tomorrow 21/03/2022. I asked that the owner ring me as well as I would like to make a complaint about the incident was handled and how I was strongly recommended not to bother with police as its a waste of time and they wont do anything. I went back to the unit and got in my car and we left as I was leaving the groundsperson and daughter were at the gate and saw me leave before 6pm. 21/03/2022 11:53am My partner rang to see what was happening with the refund when were told by Tim we wont be getting a refund and the incident wasn't his problem. 11:59am I rang and explained to Time that 3 people at the establishment all heard the refund was offered. Tim was now saying that Christian and June never agreed to the refund and they weren't authorised to offer a refund. We only left as we were offered a refund for our stay or we wouldn't have left. We handed in our keys before 6:00pm like Tim asked my partner when he came down we have this on recording too. I have spoken to police about a report on the adult for putting her hands on my son, I also had other people near the pool come up to me to see if i was ok as they witnessed everything that happened too. We ask you watch the camera in the office as well and you will see proof we were offered a refund and the abuse and threatening behaviour of this other parent. All we asked was for Christian to remove this adult from the park my son was upset i was upset and felt threatened by this woman he wasn't willing to remove her even though she admitted she put her hands on my kid and abused me at the fence. I have contacted business consumer affairs ref #..... also I have spoken to a lawyer and we have a meeting set up for 2 weeks. All we are asking from the holiday park is the full refund we were promised not half the refund as a substitute even though offering half is admission of fault. the point is the other adult will be getting contacted from police for that part but the holiday park that swears at their guest even when i was talking calm just look at the cameras and see, then promises a full refund then goes back on their word is no place i would stay or recommend ever again which is amazing considering i have been coming there for over 20 years.
