Okay, Dry Creek is really nothing to look at, but still, it's built on a Bridge. Oh, and its a pretty cool pub as well. There is a night club that I believe I may have been to once years ago (and my memory is very vague about that) and the beer garden also pretty good. However, because of the fact that it is built on a bridge it was one of my desires to actually have a meal while sitting over the bridge (even though Dry Creek pretty much lives up to its name), and I did just that. When we went to order our meal we were handed two menus, one of them was the standard menu, and the other was, well, two pages of schnitzel topping. As I looked through the options all I could thing of was cholesterol. For instance, they have one option where you get two schnitzels on top of each other with parma in the middle, or there is the double whammy, which I really don't even want to think about. I decided to go for the spaghetti and meatballs schnitzel, and upon finishing it and driving home I suddenly remembered that I'm lactose intolerant. Oh well, I survived.

Conveniently Mondays are also the night for free trivia where you can have a laugh while you eat and possibly win a voucher to come back again! That being said, my review is only of the sports bar dining area since I have not dined in the main dining area. The schnitzel menu at the Bridgeway is the most extensive I've ever seen. You have your choice of chicken or beef and then you choose from a selection of fifty, yes FIFTY! different toppings. You can stick with the traditional and get a parmigiana or get really crazy and order something like the 'Jump in the Fryer' - an interesting concoction including a schnitzel topped with fried chicken and waffles!! However, this is not the craziest invention by far - toppings include bacon, peanut butter, meatballs, fried pickles, lasagne, and you can even order a parmy topped with another parmy! The food is well cooked and presented for a pub meal and the prices are certainly right. The most expensive choice on the schnitzel menu at the time of writing was under $25 and the average price is about $16. This includes chips and the salad bar which serves a variety of hot and cold veggies and salads. I have also never managed to finish my schnitzel here and end up taking it home for lunch the next day! The salad bar varies in quality from week to week which is part of my reason for not giving full marks but my main qualm is with the service. The girls taking the orders are pleasant enough but about 50% of the time my order has come out incorrect in some way! Unfortunately the service is also often very slow. Maybe just for trivia night they need to have one more staff member in the front bar. Despite it's downsides I still return to the Bridgeway for trivia and to partake in their interesting schnitzels so it's not all bad!

Specials had to be ordered at the bar. Waited inline for 15 minutes. When asking for the roast chicken special. Was informed it was no longer available, no sign on counter to advise. Those who managed to order via the QR me&u app received their order within 30 mins. However, those that ordered at the bar didn't receive their order. After 45 minutes of waiting, we flagged down a server and was advised. 'It's probably on its way', then continued away from the kitchen to clear a table. After 10 mins, that server asked the kitchen. Then, 10 mins later, a manager attended our table and advised that the order had not been finalised due to different ordering methods, and the order will be sorted straight away. We waited another 15 mins and watched as others got their orders with the same meals, these orders weren't bumped. A member of our party went and asked for the entrees at least. Then, 5 minutes later, the food appeared. The 2nd round of drinks ordered by app appeared in different glasses, not the same volume as previous glasses. Food tasted great. I feel the staff require basic hospo training and requirements to meet the basics.

This was one of those pubs that people would always talk about, but I never got around to paying it a visit. Okay, they probably have done it up somewhat since I was much younger, but it still didn't stand out from all the other pubs that I have visited in my time. I did quite like the front bar though, which was on two levels, and the beer garden was quite nice, but I doubt I will be going back here again (though who knows, I might just do that).
