Let's start with a decor. This place is so cute! I absolutely love all the color, from the umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, the art on the walls, bench covers, and pillows. It's a vibe. Our server was a sweet young lady who gave us great recommendations and provided great service for the most part. At one point, it seemed like she was trying to rush us to pay, although the restaurant was half empty. We did pay but asked her to give us some space so that we could enjoy our conversation. It was my first time and I wanted to try a few things. I had the lamb smashburger, the butter chicken tacos, and the shrimp tacos with a cup of masala chai on side. Everything was on point. I don't have one complaint. The food came out hot and everything was full of flavor. The portions were generous, especially the meat on the tacos, although I would not have minded one more shrimp on each taco, and the burger had with plenty of fries. Everything was so delicious. It's really hard for me to pick a favorite out of the three dishes I had. My best friend and I got dinner here last Wednesday. We had been wanting to try this place for a couple months now and finally got to!!! The restaurant is pretty small but very vibrant and there is lots of greenery (fake greenery but greenery nonetheless). We didn't know what to get so the waiter recommended the sampler.. I don't really remember what it was called but there is a card on the table describing it. We also asked him where we should start once it came out and he gave us his recommendations on what to start with. We didn't quite listen though and dug into the chicken sandwiches at the bottom. They were so good!!! We ended up getting a second round of sandwiches. There was also a sweet and spicy chicken on the bottom and it was also very delicious!! The middle section had a lot of sauces, which we used for the sandwich, and samosas. I don't really like samosas but my best friend thoroughly enjoyed them. Then there were these balls of hollow dough that you would break a hole into and put the green sauce in then take one big bite. I ate two and then was done. Fun experience for that. Finally, we got to dessert. It was like a sweet Rangoon with like sweet cream/yogurt inside and a filling next to it with nuts and sauce. It was very yummy! I got more of that too! I was excited to try this cafe as I'd seen beautiful photos on Instagram but sadly it was a disappointment. While the decor, nachos and chai were all decent, here's why I am rating it lower: - Discontinued menu items - to start out they handed each individual menu one by one after we asked for it as in the food, then drinks and then dessert menu. After ordering, the waiter came back and let us know the kashmiri chai had been discontinued while there was no indication of this on their menu. When we ordered dessert, he came back to our table and told us the entire back side of the dessert menu was discontinued. Are you kidding me?! If you don't make those drinks and dishes anymore, please remove from your menu. - Chipped glass chai cup - as my sister was drinking her chai she realized her glass was chipped and almost cut her lip on it. While the waiter did take it away, I'd appreciate if the cafe was more careful. A chipped glass is so dangerous! - Lastly, the falooda was missing key ingredients. It had no vermicelli or fruit like it showed in the picture and in the list of menu ingredients. I was really hoping for a nice experience at a Desi cafe especially since there's such a small number of these in Michigan. The vibes of this place are super cute! I went with my friend and it was such a fun time - it wasn't busy luckily, so we were able to sit and enjoy for a few hours. We got the high chai option, which was all you can eat. It included chicken sandwiches, chili chicken, samosas, pani puri, and some desserts. The waiter was kind and didn't mind that we stayed so long. The set up was beautiful. I think people expect amazing Indian food but honestly it's a perfect place to have some basic snacks and tea. They also had some games you could play. I would definitely come back again with friends or as a date! I was too geeked to come here! I saw this place on IG and saved it in my visit soon folder so when this came up I jumped all over it. So, when I arrived I was thrilled at the decor and just the amazing aromas that hits you as soon as you come in the door. We could choose where to sit, so I found myself sitting towards the back on the wall. As others came in, the seats started to fill up and the room began to feel lively. Alina was a great host and dope for the idea to have High Tea and invite us Yelpies into the experience. Once the food came out, I got excited as our table was the first to attack. The food was absolutely delicious....ALTHOUGH I feel like the panipuri had it out for me. It definitely gave you a kick in the back of your throat ... a good kick but nevertheless a kick lol. Made my eyes water just a tad. The butter chicken sliders....yea it got me too. I didn't realize I had a whole pepper in mine and bit into it and my mouth was suddenly on fire...lips and all. Absolutely beautiful south-asian and middle eastern fusion restaurant. The decor itself should elicit a visit- it's that stunning. The details from the mini chai cups to water being served from clay jugs were such a nice touch to an already eclectic space. I went with a friend and ordered the high chai for 2. The spread did not disappoint, we were happy with the assortment of lamb samosas, butter chicken sliders, pani puri (with delicious curry chole), and assortment of desi style biscuits for our masala chai. We also had ras malai to finish it all off. For $30, you cannot beat the assortment of items. What blew our experience out of the water was the exceptional customer service. Friends and I made it out on a 10 degree day in January. This was the perfect place to go when it was freezing out. The restaurant is beautifully and brightly decorated, inspired by food trucks (which explains the name!) of the area. We were greeted right away. We ordered a pot of chai that was recommended to us, brought out on a brightly colored tray and pot. It was hot and milky, drank out of small glasses. I think Indian food is a shared meal, we ordered several dishes to share. We started with the lamb samosas, crispy outside, flavorful meat inside. Next the loaded fries, this was a fun take on the loaded fries. Then large plates of their Gobi dum Biryari and the "rice bowl" with the tandoori chicken. Lots of flavorful spices, the cauliflower had a bit of a kick, the rest was mild (unless you ask for a higher spice level). I do not think it was the best Indian food I've had in Metro Detroit, but very enjoyable and paired with the vibrant decor, was a great experience. Items we ordered: - pani puri: overall very fresh and tasty, my only recommendation would be to make the flavored pani/water less thick like it's intended to be - veggie samosas: do not recommend ordering, very dry and the mint chutney was mid - loaded fries (with chicken): HIGHLY recommend, amazing!! - kati tacos with crispy chicken: flavors were good, but I expected the chicken to be a little crispier -- strong flavors for the perfect twist - chicken sliders: also flavorful, definitely worth trying - Kashmiri chai: just needs a hint of extra sugar, but great otherwise Service was good, everyone was welcoming and friendly. Had high tea here and what an experience. Very quaint and cozy place. The inside of Paradise Cafe will take you on a flavor trip. They do an Indian fushion high tea that is wonderful. Food was delicious and plentiful. We tried samosas, loaded fries and pani puri to name a few. This is a great way to experience some delicious food and tea. I am so serious when I say the butter chicken pizza is basically a 711 pizza with "butter chicken" on it. the dough and the cheese says it all. the butter chicken here is not butter chicken. idk what it is but it's not butter chicken, maybe like 40% butter chicken. look sometimes mediocre pizza hits, but not when it's $16 lol. almost all the food we ordered was mediocre and the prices definitely do not correlate but the loaded fries was good more importantly the chai was terrible. respectfully... just straight up booty i'm sorry not sorry. I want to know what went wrong here. masala chai and kashmiri is what we got and neither a pot was finished. masala one was flavored water and kashmiri one was slightly salty milk. unfortunately no amount of sugar saved these. We were in the area super late and needed a meal for a family of four. We decided to go to this spot which had a cool instagrammable interior and is known for their high chai. We got the lamb smash burger, the street style chicken dum biriyani and the street style dum biriyani. Believe me when I tell you that absolutely nothing we ordered was good, the burger tasted like an old kofta kabab from an Arab restaurant nearby, the sauce had no flavor, neither did the soggy unsalted fries. The biriyani was an actual affront to biriyani, the street style chicken dum was literally fried chicken in some orange rice... Detroit halal eats is a scam. Everytime I follow her something goes down! I was sent here because they have the new viral mango icecreams. They're taxing like crazy $12 per icecream mango. $84 dollars down the drain. The packaging was sticky, not well taken care of. All of the mango icecream was broken and they told us this AFTER we paid. We had to use "Venmo or Zelle" do not recommend. They're taxing like crazy and all of their icecreams are broken and melted. I love that there's a South Asian cafe in the area to cater to the large community here. I do think this leans a little heavier for being more about the food than the drinks, so I would recommend coming here for dinner rather than a place to hang out and get coffee or tea after. The main differentiator is definitely the interior aesthetic, with the ceiling lined in Desi-style umbrellas and each wall reflecting art from South Asia or the Middle East. While there's a decent amount of space here, I would recommend trying to go with a party of 4 or less, as it can get pretty tight at the tables with more. We ordered the butter chicken pizza to split, and I got the crispy chicken sliders and the Mocha latte for myself. The sliders were great, and the latte was really flavorful, although it was smaller than I would have liked. I thought the pizza was okay, and could have used a little more flavor. Absolutely amazing experience! Our waiter, Mustafa, knew the menu like the back of his hand and explained what certain items on the menu were to us that we did not know. We felt like we ordered only a few things off the menu but the quantity of food you get with each order was so abundant! Didn't know it would take over our whole table. And everything was so yummy! I just recently went to this cafe, I thought the decorations were cool but sitting on a bench with turf(fake grass) was very uncomfortable, my legs started to hurt. The food took a while to come out and the quality of the food was terrible. My mom ordered a chai tea and it took 30 minutes to come out and it was the smallest cup ever. I ordered loaded fries with chicken and spotted 3 strands of hairs in my food. I also seen a little insect where my feet were at and had to change seats. It took almost 45-50 minutes for my whole family to finally get their food on a non busy night. Also how the food tasted, it just tasted disgusting. They flooded my loaded fries with a nasty tasting sauce and had like 3 pieces of chicken on the whole plate which was not enough. The burgers were small. The waitress took forever to get us our bill and carry on with our day which is unacceptable from a running business. the total for 7 of us to eat was 160$ for low quality food which is really just wasted money. and the food and overall restaurant quality was terrible. We dined here this afternoon on the coldest day so far in 2024! It was such a delight to feel warmed up by the colorful ambiance, the delicious tea, and the yummy food. My favorite was the cauliflower biryani and the lamb samosa. Someone was celebrating their 40th birthday and the vibes inside were contagious all around of joy and warmth. The service was very attentive and an employee shared with us a little bit about the intentional choices they made in their decor. I would return and encourage others to try this place out.
