One star because we were seated somewhat rather quickly even with the long line. We showed up on a Sunday around 3pm, and were surprised to see how busy they were-- and we were glad there were lots of people because that usually means fresh food. The prices were also reasonable. Another star because the food was fresh and some dishes were pretty flavorful like the sweet & sour chicken, the California rolls, teriyaki chicken, and brownies. I was happy to see a decent variety of desserts like freshly made cotton candy, banana cream pie, pudding, and soft serve ice cream. There's also 2 drink fountains so you never have to wait too long to refill your drinks. I give this place another star because the restaurant overall is pretty clean as well as the bathroom. As for service, after we were seated, we didn't see our host and we had to personally find a worker to ask to have our plates taken away. There are workers clearing off tables, but they were focused primarily on clearing off tables after guests left. Other than that, the Kids enjoyed it. Think we would return. read more

I'm not sure what we were expecting as it's been many, many years since we've been to a buffet (not my thing), but this place was gross. The food areas and tables were clean but the plates and utensils were all DIRTY. And I'm not talking like... a little tiny speck of dust kind of dirt. I mean globs of nasty food on all of the "clean" plates in the stack. Gross gross gross. Everyone trying to grab a plate was grossed out. It was an immediate turn off. Once I found a visibly "decent" plate, I grabbed some egg rolls, orange chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, garlic bread, and some sort of grilled chicken. Most of it was nearly inedible. After choking down what I could tolerate, I grabbed some jello and a piece of cheesecake. Both of those were the best things I tried, in my opinion, which says a lot about this place. We will not be returning. I'll be okay if we never eat at a buffet again. read more

The food tasted like it's been sitting there a while and my noodles had a fishy taste to them as if everything was cooked in the same oil. Employees were not helpful. We visited this restaurant during its first week of opening. For those who have not been to other Chinese Buffets this is probably so good for them, but for those who had tried or been to other Chinese Buffets then you will know this place is just Basic. This restaurant has a good look when you enter because you will see right away the whole view of the Buffet stands while in line to get in. Came here with a large group on a Saturday, around 2pm. When I say large, I'm talking about 60 people perhaps? Our group aside, it was very busy and a bit crowded. Upon first view, there seems to be a large selection of food, but I think the selection was just okay. Their biggest perk was the made to order noodle/stir fry grill as well as the cotton candy machine (popular with the kids). Otherwise, the quality of everything was just OKAY. Today I went with my elderly parents to this place, so when looking for a table I saw a few tables with a reserved sign. So we took a table far from those reserved ones but in the same section. ( ours had no reservation sign ) by then the people from that reservation started to show we sat, and started eating when one of the waitress asked me if we were part of that reservation I said no an explain that I saw the reserved tables and that's why we sat further, she in a very rude way asked us to move because the whole section was reserved THERE WAS NOTHING THAT SAID OTHERWISE I RESPECTED THE TABLES WITH THE SIGN BUT HAD NO IDEA THE WHOLE SECTION WAS RESERVED. She would not let me explain, she raised her voice at me made us feel like we're stupid.. I'm so upset at this person she's hispanic couldn't get her name she's got alot of tattoos on both her arms, her customer service is just disgusting. So we moved on our way out to the other section from the back, we saw a chair with a sign taped to the back that said section closed, I briefly talked to the waitress in charged of that party and apologized because I didn't see that sign from the front I would've never sat there knowing it was a reserved section. Her response was its ok because the minute the party started arriving I moved the sign so then again how was I supposed to know. Anyways not going back to this place and I hope this woman whatever her name is learn a bit about customer service, how to treat people, about hospitality, horrible experience thanks to this rude person. I paid for two went to my table and got up for my first round, I had a gastric surgery last year and can't eat much, plus I don't eat red meat. I grab a plate and was making a normal size meal, a Korean/Chinese woman (owner or worker) was adding plates to the buffets counter, she told me " to much food on that plate" really I don't even go for a second round do to my surgery. 1 plate of noddles, green beans, and 3 shrimps for more than $20 dollars that's all I ate. Came in last Sunday evening with a friend for the first time. Looked very crowded while I was paying, but after looking at the seating area, there were quite many available tables. One thing, it is very loud with this buffet. Seems like birthday parties are popular here. Well the buffet itself was quite good from the grilled chicken, ribs that you add your own bbq sauce from a bottle and the broccoli beef. Good fried shrimp and chicken. Unfortunately after 3 plates, didn't get to try the Mongolian grill. The mashed potatoes were the biggest disappointment, don't care for instant potatoes. Liked the 2 self serve soda machines. We both agreed it was good and looking forward to trying many of the other items we didn't try on the next visit. This is an "affordable" buffet during lunch time but I probably would look elsewhere if wanting to come during dinner time. There really isn't much interaction with staff other than paying at the entrance, or the occasional pick up of plates (can sometimes be slow). The place is fairly clean, yet the floors always tend to be slippery or may have food on the floor which makes you have to look at the ground to not take a fall. My wife and I were very excited to have a new AYCE buffet in South Chula Vista so we had to try this place out. As we walked through the door, there was a register to the right and one person waiting in line. Two employees were at the cash register who appeared to be switching positions. We stood there not knowing if we were going to be greeted and sat down or greeted and told to pay first. There was a sign that said customers could find their own seats so everything was a little confusing. We decided on waiting for the employees to tell us something (or at least greet us) for about 5-10 minutes; (no joke, the two employees were switching out the register and switching positions for that long without saying hello or telling us they'd be right with us for 5-10 min). So once they finish with the register, they finally help the person in front of us and we finally kind of understand that we have to pay first and then we can seat ourselves. The host at the register finally greeted us with a straight faced "hi" and asked "are you military?" For a discount. He didn't explain anything and just wanted us to pay and go. After paying, we finally got to the fun part.. the FOOD! It's a lot of food you'd typically expect from a Chinese buffet such as sushi rolls, nigiri, orange chicken, fried rice, crawfish, fried fishes and shrimp. Then they have a small American food type section where it's bbq items like small overcooked pork ribs, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, pizza (made with the thinnest dough), meat loaf, and other foods like that. The best part to me was the build your own Mongolian bbq (noodles) station where there's a variety of vegetables, spices, and meats (beef, chicken, pork, shrimp) that you can put together for the chef to cook for you. Overall, this relatively new restaurant feels like they need to find their flow on how to work. Hosts need to be more communicative and welcoming, signs should tell guests the process if hosts are preoccupied, the set up is kind of odd and disorganized but the food is decent and the service (people who come by to pick up plates) is pretty good. First time dining at Paradise Buffet and I was impressed by the warm welcome we received by two Cashier's. The brand new establishment's dining areas were warm and inviting. It's an Asian Buffet with a twist of American foods, salad bar, fruits, Dessert bar, Sushi bar, Mongolian, fountain drinks etc. Our waitress, Dea was so friendly and energetic and always smiled during her rounds, making sure we were content. We enjoyed the variety of foods, dessert's, drink's and the hospitality of the Staff. We will definitely return for our Asian food fix! read more

Went here for a bday dinner 1/21/25 with my family because the reviews sounded good. When we got there the place was looked and felt dirty but decided to give it a try. The food options were very limited and did not taste good. It was very dissatisfying. I also ordered from the Mongolian noodle bar and gave my bowl to the lady who grills it for you and gave me a buzzer for when it's ready. I never got buzzed. I went there about 3 minutes later and she had no idea where my bowl was and couldn't understand any English. Towards an hour into our dinner, my wife felt sick to her stomach and went to the bathroom and had bad food poisoning and was vomiting and diarrhea. She had to go to the ER later it was so bad. Echoing either Yelp reviewers: a good variety of buffet foods, but most not very good. Most meats were tough. Soups were mildly flavored. Desert cakes dry and flavorless. A bit of wait checking in as the hostess took a phone call, then dealt with a group of seniors "arguing" over who got to pay. :-) I'll return if other Yelpers report an improvement. This is the old hometown buffet. I'd say set up wise it is the same with logistics from what I remembered. They serve Japanese, some Chinese, and American dishes. The food for roughly $20 a person (dinner) wasn't half bad. Like hometown buffet though the floors here were sticky, staff seemed a bit like they were rushing through instructions, and the customers here tend to be a bit rude by brushing by you to get to the buffet line first. read more

I will admit that I think their selection is somewhat limited, but the items they had were quite tasty. The venue itself also has plenty of seating. The one in Cesars Palace. Paradise buffet gives off cozy family gathering atmosphere... with maybe nostalgic food to you. Anyways, you pay for drinks though except water I think because there appears to be a water cup and a blue cup for other beverages. Not too sure on that. The sushi is great here honestly. I love the idea of the grill in the middle. Variety is great. I see people coming in here alone, so I think it's a chill spot for a meal if you don't feel like cooking or want to eat outside but don't know where. Go to this buffet! The long awaited arrival of hearty buffet , the whole place is newly created now finished. New is a place to start , interior, tables, chairs, booths and equipment. Paradise buffet is an excellent choice , every type of food , now practically my new home. I put together a great grilled stir fry , beef strips, teriyaki sauce soy sauce, pepper , onions, pepper and a nice grilled experience. I also sampled the veggies, baked goods , cookies and carrot cake. I also went for grilled shrimp with a garlic sauce on the grille too. I can't say enough about the price, atmosphere, great staff .
