After a few minutes he was quickly able to determine a short in the LED screen. He offered a repair solution and if it didn't work I would not be charged for the repair just the upfront fee of $95. I found out that my Dad's TV just went out and a few months prior the same thing happened. He now has 2 TVs that were broken and has proclaimed himself the TV killer lol. Since the recent TV is fairly new, we decided to look into repairing it. Yelp recommended a few places, but this service was available the same day. Tom was able to diagnose both TVs for the same service fee. Tom explained what was wrong with each TV and showed how much experience he has doing TV repairs. One TV was much older, which I knew, and he confirmed that was it wouldn't be worth repairing since TVs are relatively affordable brand new compared to fixing it. The newer TV, that just went out, was actually less than buying a new TV so we did it Tom was able to order the part and came back to repair it within four days of receiving the part. We only paid for the part when Tom came back and repaired everything. He did it very quickly and checked that it worked and that we were happy with his service. He did a great job and everything seems to work fine. Also, he was able to fix our sound bar that wasn't working due to a cord and replace that for us as well for free. Very happy with Par TV Repair!!! I have a Samsung Plasma TV model PN64F8500 that is known for the power boards going bad. When I first spoke to Tom he was available to come to my home the same day but I wasn't going to be home, so he stopped by the next day and was able to fix it in 1 hour on the same visit which is amazing. $95 dollar diagnostic fee is pricey. Diagnosis was $310 to replace the leds which would take a week to come in. ~$405 total. The labor would take a few hours and he would need a large workspace in the house with a table large enough for him to repair the tv on. Kind of expect a mobile service in business for so long to have that taken care of. Hard to say no after paying $95. read more

I called the shop just to ask what he thinks was the problem with my tv that had just stopped working. I was getting a 12 blink code on my tv which would narrow down what the problem would most likely be. While asking him he rudely cuts me off and says I don't know and tells me how much it would be to check it out. I then say okay thanks and hang up. I then end up searching the web and finding out the problem from the 12 blink code coming from the tv. I call him back to ask him if they sell parts for tvs (it's not like I go to tv repair shops every day). He rudely cuts me off again and says no bye. I don't know if he knew I was the same guy who just called or another customer but that is bad customer service. He could have easily told me no but I can order the part for you. If so I most likely would have payed to let him install it as well. I will definitely be taking my money elsewhere. read more

I called Tom and reported that my Samsung Smart TV was no longer smart. He came over with in 30 minutes. Advise me exactly what his plan was and what the potential cost was. He took down the TV set comma with my wife's help. And remove the motherboard, resolder connections analyze the product. Reassembled and tested the TV. Cleaned up and gave me a bill that was way too conservative. He is a completely authentic old world hard-working technician. I knew exactly where I stood at all times. He is the only person I will ever call for servicing of a TV set. Surprised to receive service within an hour of making the call on a weekend. Cost wasn't bad for what was done. It is worth it to have someone come to the house, help take down our large TV, do the repair on sight and be up and running within an hour of arrival. My TV stopped working properly, and after unsuccessfully trouble-shooting online with Samsung techs, they arranged for a local Samsung authorized company to handle the problem. However, YELP showed very poor reviews for them, and showed very good reviews for Par TV Repair, so I called Par TV Repair. Tom showed up at my home within 20 min of my call, did his repair thing, and explained in detail what he determined the problem to be. He also gave me a trouble-shooting tutorial should the problem recur. The charge for his visit and work - approx 45 min total time - was less than $100; the other company had quoted a $100 charge for the visit plus $175 for the work - parts, of course, would be extra. When you find a great Mechanic, Barber, Tax Accountant and body shop you always keep them for they are the best, Well I call Tom this morning to come and find the problem with my 55" Sony HD TV, I had a red blinking light and no picture, well Tom came over and pulled the back of the TV set to take a look and was able to find the problem in just a few minutes, he told me what was wrong and how much it would be to repair it, because Tom had the part in his van to replace it right now, his pricing was great and he was a very professional man, he also checked my lamp to see if that was OK, well he told me my lamp will soon fail as well, I decided to wait for it to fail then call him to replace it latter when that day may come. Par TV Repair replaced my Mits TV LCD screen which was under warranty. He possibly damaged it during his installation. I now have white patches on the screen that are mostly visible when the room is dark enough, i.e. at night time. He refuses to come check it out after 5:00PM when it is dark even though he lives close by. He refuses to take the TV during his "business hours" and look at it at his house. The man is not very friendly and is a bit strange. Even though I was very polite with him the whole time, he would not answer his phone (seeing my phone number on his ID caller) or return messages. He charged me $100 to open up my TV and tell me the signal card was faulty, and there weren't any available. After he left, I Googled the part and found plenty of them, including a substitute part that he (as the technician) should have known about. When I emailed him to let him know I'd found the part, he said if I bought it (for $240), he'd install it for another $200. Also, when he left, the TV was broken worse than when he'd started! Now not only is the picture wiggly, but there's an intermittent flash that's very annoying. He's not communicative, icy, and creepy. Rip off. Don't give him your money. read more
