This cute little coffee shop was the only one on my morning walk without a line. Could have been bag thing, but my iced americano was and wrap was very good! PappaRoti offers up pastries, sandwiches, breakfast wraps, and other bites for those mid morning cravings. I went with the lumberjack breakfast wrap with eggs, potato, and bacon. This wrap also had a soft cheese in it, but it didn't quite fit the flavor combo, it was off-putting. Might have been a camembert? Any way... I also ordered an iced Americano with one pump of sugar-free hazelnut syrup. This was slightly bitter, but with the syrup balancing out the espresso. This drink was delicious. They have tables for dine-in options and a few outside on their front patio area. I got mine to go, to enjoy in my hotel room. If you're traveling as a tourist or a business person in the area, this is a great option for a quick caffeine boost and a light nosh. read more

The service here is wonderful the 2 girls were really sweet. We ordered a Karak milk tea, drip coffee and espresso macchiato. The OG bun and crazy for kayak were delicious they remind me of a concha from Mexico City. The crazy kaya bun was just an OG bun with the kayak spread and honey on the side. I was hoping for more salted butter and kaya together but the buns were still good by itself. The karak tea reminds me of a chai but more on the ginger side. I am a huge fan of roti buns and have very limited options of them in SF, California. So when I saw this place around the corner by my lunch place, I had to check them out and they did not disappoint! One of the best roti buns I have ever had, I got the classic and it was the perfect balance of savory & sweet. You can pick toppings, flavors, etc but I wanted it plain. We hadn't been to Papparoti in ages but we very much enjoyed it the few times that we did go, so when I saw a $6.99 Too Good to Go bag at Papparoti, I couldn't pass it up! For $6.99 we got a croissant sandwich, a pain au chocolat pastry, an apple strudel, and one of their famous coffee buns. I have to admit, we weren't too impressed when we first saw the bag. It looked quite small to us. However, after emptying the contents and surveying each item...we were quite happy with what we got! The croissant sandwich was well received by my daughter and husband. I toasted it up in the toaster oven for them and it got nice & crispy. We all enjoyed the sweets...especially the coffee bun. When I warmed up the coffee bun in our toaster oven we could smell the wonderful aroma of the coffee bun wafting through the air. It got slightly burnt on the top as I accidentally left it in the toaster oven a bit longer than I should have but it was still delicious. Hubs wanted to stop here as he needed a pick me up. We arrived about 15 minutes before closing time. Hubs wanted to try their Karak milk tea but was told they sold out (well, they were about to close), so he went with the mocha instead. He also wanted to try one of the buns and went with the Nutella and Hazelnut one. I was too full to eat, but tried the mocha, which was creamy. Hubs said it was the perfect pairing with the bun. I visited this cute little shop at about 6:30pm on a Thursday. The shop was empty aside from one group picking up a to-go order. I decided to order their "monthly special stuffed bun" which I don't 100% remember what it was called but it has sesame and cream, and it was awesome. Edit: it was called "Black Sesame Cream" The bun is so good it's like a mix between a regular savory bun with a sweeter exterior. I don't know what it was but it was super good. We had an air Bnb close to this place and stopped here a couple mornings in a row. The prices are very fair and the quality is amazing. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The deadly duo sandwich was a family favorite. Smoked turkey bagel was also great. I highly recommend the Spanish latte. Bold but smooth flavor. The salmon bagel did not have very much salmon and was not a favorite. Carrot cake was great. I really like the vibe of this place. It's small but decorated nicely. It was around 6pm and we wanted to head to a cafe. Pappparoti was open till 7pm and had read rave reviews on their coffee bun and hence headed here. There weren't any customers and just one staff. She was busy cleaning up and took our order for an original bun, Tea Flower Bloom, and karak. The glass for tea was dirty (had tea remains at the bottom). She provided another one which wasn't much of an improvement over the previous one. This was the first time I had this tea and it was nice watching the flower open up in the pot. The flavor was subtle yet nice. The karak wasn't what my husband was expecting, it was more watery in texture and taste, so he ordered a latte. The highlight was definitely the coffee bun. Crispy on the outside and a really nice flavor. Not overly sweet. The staff just seemed to be in a hurry to close up (even though there was an hour left for close) and we ended up feeling unwelcome so left as soon as we were done. Knocking off 2 stars because despite the good food, the service is what left the lasting impression. read more

I haven't been to this location for a whole now if not for covid and since I no longer work in the downtown area. I surely do miss the uniqueness of the Chinatown core. Their coffee bun is by far has always been one of my staple treat and cannot go wrong with it. First bite is a crusty yummiest which follows a soft bread inside. If you decide to add a little extra like Nutella or kaya, that's a bonus. Top it off with a cappuccino or a cortado. You got a winner! read more

I was here last Wednesday (June6th) for a drink fix, and went here for the first time. I was planning to go to T&T, however happy hour specials grabbed my attention that day. I've never tried Teh Tarik(Karak Tea is $3 during HH) ever. Staff explained that it's like Chai Tea that came in hot and cold. It came out fast, but tasted okay. Not exactly same as Chai Tea impo, but I tasted milk tea and ginger separately. Nothing too memorable about Karak Tea, maybe the ingredients weren't mixed too well? Tasted two different favours separately instead of one. I really liked sampling coffee buns from my visit, it was fresh, soft and tasty. Their stuff is expensive in my opinion. Visiting here to try Malaysians favorite Roti. Ordered a Latte and a Roti, their signature bread but sadly, the cashier know nothing about the bread and gave me 2 Lattes. I got a blooming flower tea pot for myself (hot water refills available) and we all shared a maple bun. I really wanted my own bun but I did eat a large dinner beforehand. It resembles a coffee bun from other places. I enjoyed watching my tea flower bloom as much as I enjoyed drinking it. It came with free refills too. I came back to try the Rise and Shine with strawberry jam and I loved the labneh. It's like cream cheese but soft and light. Great service, and nice place to relax. Staying in a nearby hotel and found PappaRoti on Yelp. Ordered an array of their buns (banana/nutella, young coconut, yogurt parfait, chia pudding), all delicious! The staff is so friendly and helpful. I am visiting from out of town and had a couple questions about menu items. They were happy to explain the tea and mystery bun of the month. It's a cute welcoming atmosphere. It was busy but not overwhelmingly so (and it's a Wednesday!). They staff is efficient with very short (if any) wait. My Karak milk tea is as advertised, aromatic, creamy and heavenly. I'm not much of a coffee person so the buns weren't my favorite but my coffee loving pal said it was delicious. My rating comes mostly from a) the original bun and b) ambiance/workspace. The original bun is a must at this cafe! They heat it up for you and it smells and tastes amazing. Crispy/crunchy on the outside but airy and fluffy on the inside with melted butter, you should definitely try this if you're at Papparoti. They usually have samples at the cashier if you want to be really convinced! I also usually get the karak tea which is similar to a chai tea latte but with a better kick from the ginger and cardamom. My fave is still the chai tea at East is East but Papparoti's karak tea is close to it and convenient to get because of its location. I work remotely a lot from different cafes, and I've worked out of this cafe for a few weeks on and off. For fellow nomad workers, this place is great for the following: - good wifi - outlets by the wall and window seats - small and not too crowded so you can still get meetings or other work done and get seats whatever time you come in usually The only downside is the speakers played music fairly loudly and the seats with the outlets are right under it so trying to have a call isn't the best sometimes. Since I've visited this place a lot, I've also tried their cranberry brie sandwich, breakfast burrito, and their bun with kaya. Wasn't a huge fan of kaya/honey combo with the bun as it was a bit too sweet, but the bun itself is still great. The sandwiches are what you'd expect at any other type of cafe. read more

Never been but was going to T+T store and remembered that had a new menu item: ICE CREAM BUNS! This is their original bun stuffed with a ice cream of your choice (vanilla, chocolate or strawberry) and one topping (can't remember them all but there was a choice of oreo, marshmallows, corn pops, fruit loops..). I upgraded my ice cream filling to black sesame for another 75 cents. Overall, the bun was nice and warm which nicely melted the ice cream. Cant give it 4 stars though as I really couldn't taste the black sesame very much. At $7.15, it's not cheap but definitely filling! Appreciated the clean interior and friendly staff. read more

Folks here are super friendly and find a great balance between chatty when you want to chat and just taking your order when you obviously don't want to chat. The space was clean and nicely laid out. WiFi available, and some gluten free treats too (though all looked quite sweet so I didn't try any). I really loved their house made Karak tea. I was a little hesitant to order when they told me it was made with sweetened condensed milk (I don't like overly sweet drinks) but while it was certainly sweet it was wonderfully balanced. We came here late night after a stroll to have some dessert. This place was great. Ample amount of seating. I just could not figure out the background of the owner. Are they afghani? Pathan? Middle eastern? They have kadak chai which was very good (has ginger and cardamon) mmmm soo good Their dessert was so good too. Could not stop eating that. They make their bread fresh in house. The bread tasted almost like a cronut. Super good. I like it a lot. If I lived here this would be like Atlanta's cafe intermezzo for me. My late night coffee and dessert cafe.
