We bought our wedding invitations here. Their product was solid - we had seen the same invitations at other stores for what seemed like the same price. But it was the customer service that made us purchase the invitations from PaperSource. He had gone to other stores and basically been led to a table and had the salesperson say "here look through these" and pointed to huge books of invites and then would walk off. All with different pricing guides. We had no clue what we were looking for or at. A little guidance would have been helpful. It was different with the PaperSource. Jane didn't hover but was always available. She then actually priced out the invites that we liked so we could compare with actual numbers. She gave us advice and her thoughts when we needed it. We purchased the invites that day because of the service - we went in just to look but the service won us over. The proofing process was quick and we got our invites right on time. We've been into the store several times since then and the sales staff always seems to remember us (if they don't then they are doing a great acting job). We had no issues with pricing. They are very clear about the fact that if the salesperson made a mistake then the pricing may change but Jane triple checked her numbers and another staff person finsihed our sale and she went over the quote as well. read more

The customer service was so speedy and sweet. The ladies helped me pick out paper stock for my DIY wedding cards, let me play around with the stamps, and gave me great advice on how to save money. Nice selection of products online, but I was responding to an offer in their catalog to buy 3 boxes of cards and get 1 free. Discount didn't apply in shopping cart, so I attempted to use their live chat feature for help. Even though it was during the hours that live chat was supposed to be available, there was no one online to chat. So I called and spoke to a mumbling rep who had no clue about the catalog offer and spoke in single syllable responses. I am just an average customer coming in off the street. No custom order from this gal... So many awesome things in this store and Iove it! They get 5 stars because I had left the store and 10 min later freaked out because I left my shopping bag behind from a different store!! It had some expensive stuff in it!! Fun little craft store. A star just for the zebra stripe gum. I used to devour this stuff as a kid and then I could never find it, until now. So worth $2+ per pack for 5 seconds of flavor. ANYWAYS--store has limitless papers, glitters, stamps, etc. along with some ribbons, wrapping papers, little trinkets, and cards. Items are expensive. Been once to purchase cards and adornments to create girls birthday invites and again for papers/stickers for Valentines. Spent $100 the first time and $50 the second time. We just received our order for notecards from Paper Source and were really disappointed in the product. The paper quality of both the notecards and the envelopes is fine, but the presentation is awful. The cards were sent in a stack and wrapped in paper, but they were not folded in half nor was there a box in which to wrap them. These were ordered as a gift. I would not have minded paying $70 for 50 cards if they were sent in a presentable, wrappable fashion. But I don't have that same feeling receiving unfolded cards thrown in a box. It feels like a low-end ripoff. I have ordered personalized notes from various vendors and they've always been folded and sent in a box. I won't be ordering these again from them. read more

I ordered photo cards and envelopes printed with our return address on Nov 30, 2014. The order was received Dec 13, but the envelopes were printed with the incorrect name and return address (despite the order shipping to the correct name and address). I have contacted Paper Source Customer Service by email twice and have left numerous voicemails, but they have not reponded, nor returned my calls. Without envelopes, I simply cannot get my cards in the mail! Avoid ordering from this company. They do not stand by their product apparently. read more

Did I say I wasn't going to let this dump take up anymore of my time? Well, I lied- I knew I was going to be in the area and I still needed the pack of enclosure cards that they were out of the last time I was there. I knew better this time- since they never have anything you want in stock, I called. YAY!! They had one pack of cards in stock, which I asked them to put on hold for me. On a prior visit to the Southport store I was given the incorrect size of cards, so I had an exchange to make. I asked the woman at the register if I she could just do an exchange. "No, I can't I have to do a full refund since the cards and the enclosure cards are a different price" after her filling out her paperwork... me swiping my card for the return... her ringing me up again.. GUESS what????? They ARE the same price! Thanks for wasting 10 min of my life I am never going to get back. I wasn't sure if I should laugh or cry about how this store never fails to piss me off, or disappoint me in some way- but I decided to take my anger out on Yelp. EXPENSIVE!!! They've got cute letterpress cards and such but if you're looking for plain paper and envelopes to do something crafty with they are pricey. Look to the web to find places that sell the same products for better prices. I've found multiple places that sell "PS Paper" in the same colors and slightly larger quantities for much better prices. A quick online hunt could save you a boatload of money on any large projects!! read more

Overall this is a great store. It is expensive though, and many of their products - aside from some of the papers maybe - are available at JoAnn or PaperAndMore.com. However, I like supporting local business and I usually buy something every time I go in. I don't mind the prices being high for the quality, but they should offer some kind of frequent purchase card. Also, their sales are generally things like "spend $100, save $10" - this seems kind of stingy to me. They rarely have sales that are straightforward "save 10% on your next purchase." You always have to spend a ton to save a little. I did the PS Wedding invitation class which gave me a lot of great ideas - I modeled my brother's invites after one of the samples. read more

Paper Source for invitations-Paper source gave me so many options for invitations. I went with colors that tied into my entire theme. I was also able to get my place cards and menu cards through them. It was a one stop shop. I had one meeting and completed everything. My mom and I were so impressed and pleased with the quality of the invitations. The staff at the Lincoln Park store was very helpful throughout the entire meeting. We actually did the rehearsal dinner invitations through them too. read more

I ordered my wedding invitations through paper source and I cannot say enough good things about this company! I absolutely LOVE my invitations and they were easy assemble. I needed my invitations rushed towards the end of the printing process and the staff at Lincoln Park location as well as the warehouse location came through for me. I was able to get my invitations early and pick them up at the warehouse. I appreciated them helping to accommodate my needs and they did so with the up-most service. Isabella at the Lincoln Park location was pleasant to work with, I appreciated her advice and creative input through the whole process. Planning a wedding can be stressful and Paper Source helped me remain stress free. I will be using them again for thank you cards and other paper needs in the future. read more

BUYER BEWARE- DO NOT USE I bought Holiday cards through Paper Source. It has been a disaster. You should NOT use them. Designing the card was a nightmare. Every time I uploaded a picture, it crashed. Then when the card seemed done, I went to add the saved card to my cart, and none of the photos would display when I previewed it again to be sure. Finally, after rebooting my computer and starting over 3 times, I was able to get the design with the photos. I emailed the company multiple times and only got one automatic response. Today the cards arrived. 3 of the 6 pictures are missing on the card and have blank spaces (see attached). I went online to look at the card saved in my files and the pictures are there. I called their customer service. The first time I called, I was customer #25 in line but when I got to #18 they dropped my call after 20 minutes on hold. I called again later. I was caller #10 and was dropped after 10 minutes. I am now on hold again, caller #15 and it has been 16 minutes already and I only moved to caller #12. I did not lose the calls because I have my phone on speaker and a table not touching anything (I am not holding the phone). They dropped my call, probably on purpose. DO NOT use this company. read more

Totally cute store, fun for browsing, but my recent experience ordering custom paper from Paper Source was awful. I ordered 3 sets of custom notepads. One set had illegible printing, another was paper that won't take ink from pens, just markers, and the third was fine - so, one out of three products was useable. I contacted customer service and response was an offer of credit on a future purchase (future purchase!) equal to the cost of one of the sets of notepads. That offer is so inappropriate it's almost comical, except for the part where I'm out $70 plus tax. No thanks. No more Paper Source for me. Service was great when this was a local company. They've opted to focus on growth at the expense of customer service, apparently. read more

I went to the Paper Source to look for card stock to print invitations. I thought I'd go to the experts to get some help. Sounds easy, right? WRONG. The ladies downstairs were rude and couldn't spare a minute out of pricing items to explain the difference in paper weight. Given that there was nobody to help, I went to the display board to find out what paper was used on 99% of the invitations displayed and the lady proceeded to tell me they don't have that sell that paper in the store. I ordered some paper online from The Paper Source, and it was a complete nightmare!!! I found paper for my wedding invitations online. The color looked perfect! I viewed it on my monitor, and 2 other mointors to make sure the color I was seeing was the color I would be getting. I ordered 10 packs of the cards and 10 packs of the envelopes. I got them in the mail yesterday, and the color is not even close to the color I viewed online. I called the store to say I want to return them, but they said they will not accept returns for any sale item. Rarely do I find a company that won't stand behind the products that they sell. I will never buy anything from them again. I am now out $150, and will be sending out tacky/ugly wedding invitations. Thanks a lot Paper Source! You are a terrible company!!! read more

This place is helpful! I came here for wedding invitations. The downstairs is the more DIY while the upstairs offered numerous books loaded w options to peruse. On both levels, I was greeted and they answered all my questions thoroughly. I went on a Saturday and even though it was decently busy, I wasn't ignored or cut short. I stopped by again at Paper source to pick up the remainder of my items I ordered, I didn't anticipate to have to stop their twice from one order, this took a lot of of my time as there is construction on cortland making your store difficult to get to. I asked the woman who gave me my stationary about wedding invitations and having an indian theme, she had no clue what i was asking for nor could she help. I proceeded to go downstairs and look at your books anyway. Surprise enough, I found a suite of cards that I loved. I asked an employee downstairs to help put the estimate together and pay (realize this would have probably have been $1K - $2K of my hard earned money that I would have paid you). In the middle of putting the estimate together, after all of the work we went through that same employee upstairs came down and asked her to help upstairs because the store was busy. At that point, I told them not to worry about it because I had to get going anyway. The woman that came from upstairs said I could make an appointment. Make an appointment???? I've been in stores 3 times already in the past month - I couldn't order items from your site because your site does not work on firefox, ipone, or ipad. I had to personally walk to the store, have an employee order the items i wanted on the computer, and then have them shipped to your store to only pick them up in 2 different shipments!! what a joke!! Way to go on creating a Lose-Lose situation! Not only did you waste my time but you wasted your employee's time. Now i have to go back to the drawing board on finding invites. My fiance and I have been living in Lincoln Park for years. We are strong believers of supporting local businesses. So many times have we stumbled upon your store, found an item we loved for one of us, our friends, baby shower/birthday presents, cards, albums, etc. With his Amazon Prime membership he would find these on amazon to see how much they cost, even though Amazon was always cheaper than the price in your store, we purchased the items from Paper Source, even if we had to carry an awkwardly shaped box walking back to our place a mile away in the rain or cold. After this extremely disappointing experience, just to get personalized stationary, I'm sad to say we won't be returning. We are doing our wedding invitations here, and in our several stops in here checking things out, asking questions, playing with ideas, etc., we have consistently encountered friendly and helpful staff. They have never, ever been pushy or tried to sell us anything --they simply made themselves a resource for ideas and information, which we appreciated. I have also used their online help service and received the same quality of professionalism and help. Communication is clear, the proof process works well, and the products are all top quality. Is it a little pricey? Sure. Do I wish they had a few more things that I can see in my mind but can't find in person? Yes. Do I wish I could see an actual proof of my invite without paying the full amount first? Yes. But am I anything other than a happy customer? No way. I love Paper Source. However, I was very disappointed when I recently attempted to purchase some little squishy light up snowmen as holiday gifts for my piano students this year. I had bought one a few years ago & have had it sitting on my piano during the winter months. My piano students have loved it so much that I decided to buy them each one this year to give them at our recital in December. So last year I bought the last 10 they had in the store thinking I'd buy the other 35 this year. No such luck. The store has sold them the last few years but when I called them a few days ago, they said they won't carry them this year. I was hoping maybe they could special order them for me or change their minds and decide to carry them after all or something, as now I am stuck with the 10 snowmen I have and cannot find them anywhere else. (I did google them and found some in England, but they won't ship to the USA.) They would have been the perfect gifts for my students. read more

This is the best Paper Source store in Chicago, by far. It is a larger store (two levels) and has a great selection of fine paper, wrapping paper, gifts, crafting supplies, and basically anything you could want. Everyone who works there is so friendly and helpful, and I love visiting this store. I have taken several fabulous card-making classes there, and recently Lizzie helped me host a private group Valentine's Day card-making party that was a huge hit with all my friends. read more

I ordered my Christmas cards 2 weeks ago and it still hasn't been sent out for delivery. I didn't receive a response to my email and when I called, they told me they needed to call their vendor and couldn't do anything. This is obviously a very time sensitive order. My wife and went here when we were shopping for wedding invitations, and spent a few hours in their cozy easy chairs before finding the ones we wanted. Unfortunately, coming from a small company in California the engraved invitations were going to break the bank... The manager suggested that we meet with their graphic designer Sarah Lacy, to see if she might be able to create something with a similar appearance and feeling. It was a busy Saturday afternoon, but Sarah came out and talked with us right then, and quoted us a price half that of the little company in California. We were able to save some extra cash by ordering just the engraved materials from the Paper Source and I printed the majority of the remainder at home on Paper Source papers. For the cost of the papers and envelopes, a sheet of sticker decals, a leaf design hole punch, glue stick and the font that I ordered I was able to produce 150 menus, maps for invitations, invitation envelopes and wedding programs. This stuff would have cost us close to $2000 to order from a private vendor! The folks at the Paper Source are always encouraging and helpful, especially when they hear your ideas - they dig the DIY thing as much as I do. Still, the other reviewers may be right. If you are looking for 'funky' stuff right off the rack, and you are either not creative or unwilling to do some of the assembly / design yourself, then you can probably find less expensive things elsewhere. If you're like me and have a vision of what you want for your final product and are able to navigate a printer and a glue stick - I think the paper source provides high quality materials in a variety of sizes and colors. If you read the 5 star reviews for Paper Source they seem to score well in the craft and ready made card and stationery areas, but now I am addressing the custom paper aspect. Thus far ordering wedding invitations has been a horrific experience. We chose expensive invitations, submitted custom artwork, only to meet with one problem after another with the order!. Staff in the store does not seem to be conversant with their product or what can and cannot be done. As it stands now, due to another glitch, we are still waiting for a proof 10 days after placing an order. The staff is uninformed and unprofessional and quite frankly, in all of the wedding planning, this experience has been the most stressful. Seriously, ordering invitations should be a relatively simple straight forward process. Not with the Paper Source, It becomes an infuristing experience, which you have the privilege of paying for . . . absolutely unacceptable and ridiculous. Find a good stationer that doesn't do arts and crafts and knows what they are doing!! I would never recommend them for wedding invitations! read more

My review has more to do with the Armitage location Paper Source. I heart Paper Source in general. I get my supplies at Paper Source in River North which I also heart. For whatever reason everytime I have to go to the Armitage location (usually because they may have what I want in stock), there is some issue. They seem to be clueless about everything. I guess I'm confused because I'm used to the other locations and never really understand why they have no idea what they have and what they don't. They seem to running around clueless about what products they have. Again, this is the Armitage location, not Paper Source as a whole. Recently I had to pick up some more envelopes that I put on hold for my wedding invitations, and one of the staff person seemed to be in such a bad mood. She was so rude to me that I thought I would say something, but decided it wasn't really worth it. I've heard recently that they have new management. Not sure if she was the new manager but she had one heck of an attitude. I was so sad when I left. I'll keep my buns at the River North location as I always get so much help and lots of love from them. Paper Source is great! I love this store. I come in frequently to look at greeting cards, and many of the times when I come in I am just there to look and plan for the next few months of cards I need to send. I like it here because the staff lets me browse and doesn't seem at all judgmental that I don't always make a purchase. Amy always notices me chuckling away at the cards and asks me what cards are catching my attention. She also makes sure to show me cards she thinks I might like or to point out new ones that I may not have seen. I send a lot of cards but don't do a lot of gift shopping, so a well curated card collection is something I really appreciate and I love that I can spend my lunch hour here every few weeks, see a familiar face and just soak up the beautiful environment here. read more
