Stickers!
Liz L.

As a Miami transplant from Chicago one of the main things I miss is stores is like this. Got stickers, a poster, cute little succulent plushie, a book for our friends who just had a kid and would have bought more Would 100% go back when I'm back in Chicago

Probably my favorite gift shop in the city! There are so many cute chicago related items from paintings to magnets to stickers to art that are actually cute and not super ~touristy~ looking. There have really great cards and special themed things too. I loved coming in around Christmas and seeing all the ornaments! It's a little pricy but worth it for specific local items for sure.

Some new art for my gallery wall

Not the most wallet friendly store but a real gem nonetheless. When my friend and I walked in here one brisk day it was cozy and packed (she assured me that was a bit odd). The set up is delightful- tons of nifty stuff to browse in all the shops nooks and crannies. Stellar place to buy a great and unique card or small meaningful gift. I love their balance of homemade and local as well as some mainstream favs. They have great art prints but also carry rifle and co stationary. Friendly staff and a welcoming environment. I picked up a few cards and my friend got a cup and sticker.

I bought a $14 candle here. Normally that's ridiculous for me. But it smells just like my grandma's house at Christmas when I was a little girl. What kind of magic and wonderment are they up to at this Edgewater Candle company?? They have free Halloween candy from childhood days on the front counter, too. Thank you!

The staff is courteous and greeted me at the door. There's some interesting gifts, prints, candles, and a bunch of vintage Chicago paraphernalia. Kind of like an expanded Hallmark store with local fare.

Offbeat Valentines!
Kat S.

My Dad is a bad@ss: He's a retired cop- the kind with a dark, twisted sense of humor and low tolerance for the (conventionally) sentimental. I need to send him a Valentine. Yes, need. He gets annoyed when he doesn't get things in the mail. Finding a card at Hallmark with pastel script, the rhyming poetry, the poor-quality watercolor flowers on the front? Animated e-Cards? Will only annoy him further. This man is not afraid to shoot that which annoys him. I try to avoid this. Which is why an "I dig you" card with a man silhouetted with a shovel having buried a dinosaur-sized anatomically-correct heart is the sort of thing that will have him contentedly guffawing until the next holiday obligation. Plus, in buying from this fine store you support talented artists, many of which are creative locals! I also needed to find a cute petsitting thank-you card for a friend... and by cute, I mean the kind of thing my Dad would hate... Awww Boston Terrier Love! I also picked up a couple of cards for my Handsome Boyfriend... but those are sexy, tingly sort of dirty and my exhibitionism only goes so far. You should come here and see for yourself- the offerings will make you giggle, blush and find something offbeat but perfect for every person you know and love.

Eh, things are overpriced and not really worth it. Your money is better spent somewhere else.

They provide excellent service, and are always helpful and understanding of my many questions and particularities of my needs. I have remained loyal through location and ownership changes and have no plans of looking back. Thank you CMM!!

I entrusted CMM with the largest piece I've yet had framed and am thrilled to have done so. Moe…read morewas extremely thoughtful about each aspect of the project, approaching with an artist's eye and making tasteful choices which did not distract from the poster itself but added visual intrigue with the texture of the frame. The poster I brought in had some minor wear and water damage, so they partnered with Chicago Poster Restoration to ensure the piece was in the best condition possible before being framed. The finished product looks just about mathematically perfect- everyone involved did fantastic work and really elevated a simple poster to something I am excited to have as a focal point on my wall. Communication was consistent throughout the process and turnaround was surprisingly quick. I look forward to working with CMM again on framing projects that require a bit more creativity as I completely trust their vision and the care with which they treat the art brought to them.

I was able to find Prints Unlimited and Jill was able to narrow down my selection like a puzzle sorting out different color mattes and frames. Jill was able to quote me a price minus a check-in discount (under $600) which made this final product come to life. The final product was mention to take 3 weeks but after 2 weeks, I got the call to come pick the print up. I am glad Prints Unlimited made this process easy and the price was very affordable. She walked me through every step of the framing process, from picking the perfect frame style to choosing the ideal matting size and figuring out the best placement in my home. I never felt rushed; she was so patient and attentive, making the whole experience a blast! Honestly, I could have easily spent the entire afternoon with her--time flew by! I couldn't wait to return, and I brought back even more items, including a blanket (though I had to hit pause because of a vacation coming up). I've used Print Unlimitd in the past, and I'm back because I was just so thrilled with the quality! Plus, Jill gave me the pricing on the spot, and I truly felt like I scored a fantastic deal. You really do get what you pay for, so I can't wait to go back again and again!

They really emphasize the importance of customer service and have been really helpful in helping my design my piece, even if I come in with almost no idea of how I want something framed. To me their prices are a tad higher than what I was expecting to pay, but given the high quality work they do and how easy they make the entire process, this place provides great value if you need something framed. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I've had two experiences with the Frame Shop across its Bridgeport and Lincoln Park location and there have been some common themes that I think does a good job representing the values and aspects of framing that this place is trying to do well. What I really do appreciate about the Frameshop is how serious they're taking covid. Each location is only open a few days a week and people only come in by appointment only. Not only does this reduce the number of people around me but it gives me individual attention when it comes to getting inspiration in terms of how to set up my framed piece. Every time I've been, the person working has had a mask on as well, and there is plenty of hand sanitizers. The other thing I've noticed across my experiences, is their focus on quality framing and customer service. I am honestly a novice when it comes to framing, but even then, I always really appreciate and am impressed by the finished product. Like when I get my pieces back, I always think "Damn, this is really nice" and it makes me feel like I have my sh*t together as an adult. It's like putting on a nice suit, you automatically feel like a million bucks, even if half my wardrobe is gym shorts and t-shirts. In terms of customer service, I had a terrible first experience at Lincoln Park, but the frame shop reached out to me and let me know they had already taken steps to address some of the issues I had previously experienced, even before I gave my feedback. I am glad I gave them another shot, and I truly believe that my second experience is more representative of what you can expect based on how genuinely apologetic they were and based on other reviews. Going in the second time, I just had a few pieces from my wedding I wanted framed as an anniversary gift. I had nothing in mind of how it would go together or how it would look. Cole helped me and made the whole process really easy. He took what few ideas I had, filled in some blanks, and within 15 min we had outlined the piece and I was super happy with it. That process could not have been easier. I still do get some sticker shock when it comes to the price. Compared to what I had in mind, we're still within the same ballpark, but still higher than what I thought I was going to pay going in. But to be fair, I'm basing this off prices in my hometown, and have never gone anywhere else in Chicago, as some of the other reviewers seem to have, and found the Frame Shop to be cheaper. But given the quality of the final product, the amazing customer service, and the eye for design the workers have, you're still going to get great overall value when come to the Frame Shop.
