Staying on Pensacola Beach for a vacation, I was craving pizza and had heard good things about this spot. I saw they had Sicilian style pizza on the menu so I called to order one for takeout but was disappointed to hear they were unavailable that day. I decided to take the short drive over to get a few slices to go to see if this pizza I lived up to the hype. It was a Friday night around 6 PM and only two tables were taken up in this quaint little pizza joint. I ordered two slices to go, and the cashier repeated back to me my order and reiterated that I would like them in a box. I told her yes, and when I paid in cash, she looked confused and struggled to come up with the correct change, which was not actually correct, but I wasn't going to hassle her over a few cents. I waited for my pizza for over 10 minutes and when I finally made eye contact with the woman at the register again, she seemed to realize that my pizza had been sitting behind the counter and brought them to the table on two paper plates. I looked confused and asked her if I could get them in a box like I had ordered, and she rolled her eyes and took them behind the counter, putting them in a box but using her hands, which had been handling money and other people's beverage glasses, in the process. She was dismissive and came off pretty rude in general. Having worked in the service industry many years, I can understand if you're busy or you're having an off night, but this lady just seemed to have a stick where the sun doesn't shine and was rude for no good reason. I even tipped before all this happened and the pizza was OK, but I don't think I would go back after this customer experience. There are definitely other places to get mediocre pizza on Pensacola Beach and the FOH isn't so rude! read more

I don't know how this place has such a low rating. This place is a Pensacola Beach institution that I've been eating at since high school. Yea, it's never gonna win a Michelin Star, but it's still darn good pizza. So there's a boardwalk full of restaurants and shops and bars along the edge of the beach on the bay side of things at Pensacola Beach. Businesses come, businesses go, but this place remains. It's at the very end, right next to an ice cream shop, so it's the first or the last thing people see when strolling the whole boardwalk. A statue of Papa himself greets you right before you walk in the door, and when you get inside, it's a cozy little shop with Pensacola decor and murals all over everywhere. Very quaint. You walk up to the counter and place your order. I brought my niece once day when I was visiting home. We went to Fort Pickens, the beach, and then came here for some lunch. She got a couple of slices of cheese, because she's boring, and I got a couple of slices of Peppino Schano (Broccoli, spinach, green peppers, onions, mushrooms). The crust is thin, and the bottom of it is borderline burnt, which makes it so crispy. Crispy, yet strong enough to not bend under the weight of the toppings. The amount of toppings is pretty nice. You get a good assortment of each of the veggies. Not too much, not too little. Overall, this is the pizza you need and deserve in the middle of a hot, hot, hot beach day at the best beach in the state. Get a Mexican Coke to go with your meal, and you'll want to give this place five stars as well. read more

There is not a lot of room in this pizza place but it was a cute old school restaurant. We ordered the extra large pepperoni pizza which was really good. We ordered it to go so it was not as fresh as I would have liked when we got it back to the room to eat. The bread sticks were okay. Literally bread sticks and garlic. The young lady who checked me out was not the nicest person but it was pretty busy for lunch time. I would eat the pizza again but eat it fresh at the restaurant. read more

Meh. This place use to be fabulous. I really missed it this time. Just wasn't good. Super salty, cheese was thicker and the sauce was way greasy and not the crispy bottom. Breadsticks were crust with a little butter and garlic salt on top. read more

I wish it were better. This spot is located on the Pensacola Beach boardwalk which is an awesome location! They sell pizza by the slice but it is sadly mediocre at best. I ordered a slice of sausage pizza and it was similar to something I would have eaten in a middle school cafeteria. It wasn't the worst but also was not up to par with alot of the other pizza joints in town. read more

Stuffed pizza and an order of spaghetti and meatballs. All amazing quality. Been a customer since I was very very young. Always a must eat when on Pensacola beach. Service is always friendly and food always hot and fresh. Dough is nice and soft but holds its firmness. Meatballs were very good quality didn't seem frozen. read more

Waitress was amazing and it was a busy night. Hubby and I split a Greek salad. ( excellent). He got a calzone and said was delicious. I had a slice of pizza with sun-dried tomatoes and pepperoni. Boys wanted pizza after taking a boat ride to see the dolphins so we swung by here. I'm a bit of a pizza snob and although this did not hit my top five it is dang good pizza. I had a craving for pizza tonight, so I was seeing a lot of advertisements, even on my wristband, while I was at the pier, and so I looked up Papa's Pizza, and I decided this would be the place for dinner with my mom. Upon arriving, the atmosphere was bustling and full of color, and as a tip, when you get there, don't just grab a table. Let them greet you and ask you if you want to dine in or carryout, which is what I did. The service is stellar there, and the pizza was top notch! The next time I come to eat pizza in Pensacola Beach in my future travels, Papa's Pizza will be my choice for sure! Job well done to all of the staff and the chefs! We had a slice one day and went back for a pie the next, because the pizza was good but we wanted pizza and it was the only option. It disappoints. The pie was better than the slice, but I always like pies better than slices. I hate giving negative reviews but I have to be honest. It didn't have a lot of sauce or cheese on it, and therefore not particularly tasty. The staff was very nice and service was fine. read more

Low quality ingredients, high cost. We came once before and it was better. The ambiance isn't great either, despite being right on the boardwalk you can't see out the back windows. Service is counter-only, and was fine. Very expensive for a greasy pizza when Rotolo's is right in Gulf Breeze and has (at minimum) better prices, marinara, and ingredients. We got a supreme (called a Celebrity pizza.) The crust was okay but I don't think we'll come back. read more

We stopped in for dinner while on vacation. The inside dining is very limited. The woman who waited on us was friendly and service was good. We were not a big fan of the breadsticks or sauce. The sauce is very watery and not a lot of flavor along with the breadsticks. We were thinking the pizza was going to be good due to the area saying best pizza around. Honestly, it was ok, in our opinion. If I were back in the area I would probably skip eating there again. read more

Pictures on website look great but it's definitely was not my reality. I consider myself a pizza connoisseur and have to say this was mediocre at best. Maybe it was the wrong time of day, wrong cook, wrong pizza ordered, but I ordered XL 1/2 Al Pacino and 1/2 Frank Sinatra, New York style and I think they forgot the "best cheeses" on top of the pizza. I will say the crust was better than most but toppings were nothing better than Any old chain pizza place. Breadsticks are good if eat immediately when hot bit harden fast and become way tougher chewy. This is decent for a quick fill me up, but didn't feel like I got my Moneys worth on this one. read more

My first time visiting here and most likely the last. I very much was craving pizza! Unfortunately, crust is extremely thin and it was very close to being burnt. Usually if that happens, I just pull the top of the pizza off and eat the Canadian Bacon and Pineapple along with the "on top" crust. However, since there was really no crust - I was able to pull off only my toppings and eat those. I will not be back. read more

My pizza experience at Papa's was just okay. I had it delivered through the Waitr app, so I don't really have much to say about the customer service at Papa's except that the young woman who answered the phone was speaking really quickly. I had to ask her to repeat what she said. This isn't really a criticism, just a comment. The pizza itself is what was just okay. I ordered something really basic: a NY style cheese pizza. The taste was fine, but the crust was the issue for me. It was way too hard. I appreciated the thinness of the crust, but it was difficult to bite hot and almost impossible to bite once it'd cooled down (which doesn't take long for a delivered pizza). As a tourist to the area, I'd probably try Papa's again, but not for delivery. Maybe eating the pizza right out of the oven makes a difference. read more

It's ok! Nothing fancy. Pizza was flat. Not much flavor. Not much cheese. TONS of ingredients- we got the XL Frank Sinatra, to us, it was very salty. Crust was good, needs some garlic butter. Customer service SUCKED. I called to verify I was calling the right place & ordered my food. Very rude. & hung up on me after I said what pizza I wanted. This is some of the best pizza I've had in Pensacola. Crust was the best part of the pizza if you are looking for a New York style. Sauce was also not too heavy and was good balance for the thin crust. They sell slices here! My slice was definitely on the small side for $5 so I will not purchase by the slice again but would consider a whole pizza. My only complaint was the topping quality (pepperonis). I prefer slightly thicker and ones that will curl up. It is definitely worth trying if you want good pizza! read more

I explained to him that my girlfriend and I would be dining there on Friday and that I was planning on proposing to her. I asked him if he would help. He said absolutely, "just discreetly give the ring to someone and I'll take care of everything else." When we arrived at the restaurant, Louis greeted us. I had noted on the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and he said I see we're celebrating a birthday. My girlfriend said "please. I don't want any cake or anything special" and he said that it would not be a problem. We were seated at a table for two near one of the large windows overlooking the gulf. The restaurant is a beautiful space and our service was spot on. Andrea and Kaitlyn took very good care of us. We split the sea scallop appetizer which was delicious and then shared the Chilean Seabass entrée. It was cooked perfectly, came out hot and was absolutely delicious. After we had eaten, we asked for our check and shortly thereafter, Louis came out with a large plate that had a giant slice of bread pudding on it and a small ring box. He had written will you marry me on the plate in icing.... My girlfriend, now my fiancé was stunned and I think we both cried a little bit (she said yes). It was an experience neither one of us will ever forget and the most special night we have spent together. Louis and the Drift team were absolutely wonderful. Our experience was top-notch and Drift will forever be our special place!! Well, done and heartfelt thanks!
