I was really looking forward to dining here for months and finally got the chance to have lunch at Papas & Eggs. The restaurant decor is very chic and the place is clean. I especially like the outdoor seating & decorative pillows.Our waitress is very courteous. She had to take care of 5 tables by herself so it took her some time to take our order, which is understandable. The one star is for the salad. Yes.... You're probably laughing at me for ordering salad at a breakfast spot lol. Yes yes I know... it's my own damn fault! I ordered the Cajun Chicken salad that costs $16 + tax. The chicken is well seasoned. I got 7 thin pieces of grilled chicken. The tomatoes and artichokes were fresh. But the main ingredient, the greens in the salad, was old and wilted. The ends of the salad was pink. I got some leafy pieces that were moldy and wet. Yuck! I would never serve moldy lettuce/leafy greens to my worst enemy. But you're operating a restaurant, and charging $16 for a bowl of salad. Please have some pride when serving your food to customers. I really needed a new go-to lunch spot in Gilroy and get very excited when I see a new restaurant in town. I'm taking the time to write this review so you can improve on the quality of your salad. Yum yum... what a great find. Thanks, Yelpers! Ok... so we were in Gilroy to hit up the Outlet Mall for some sweet Nike sneaks for my lil boy last weekend. While there, we decided we were hungry and, being my carb day, I decided I wanted to carb out on some delicious breakfast brunch grub. After a quick Yelp search, I found Papas & Eggs wasn't far from the Premium Outlets so we headed over there. When we first arrived, we realized the parking is kinda tight. No worries, though, there are a few more spots in the back you can use. We walked inside and immediately noticed the super cute decor. Love it! It's bright and cheery and rustic at the same time. They had some sports on in the background and there's also patio seating, if you prefer. We were seated immediately and given menus to look through. Everything looked amazing and we joked about ordering one of everything. I'm not a big drinker but they had all the delicious brunch offerings like Mimosas, Sangrias, beer, wine, and even a Mimosa flight for those who want to taste it all. We opted for fresh lemonade and mocha but loved fresh juice options, too. After a moment, we decided to order steak and eggs and a pecan waffle with a side of eggs. Everything was amazing and cooked to perfection... especially the waffle which was light and fluffy, topped with cinnamon butter and pecans. I didn't even need syrup. The steak was surprisingly good and well seasoned, too. I'd definitely order both again. But maybe I'll order the fried burrito (aka breakfast chimichanga), French Toast, Nutella pancakes, eggs benedict with smoked salmon, omelet, huevos rancheros, or other yums next time. I'll roll the dice of deliciousness! Our server (and everyone) was chill and everything was great. We decided to make Papas & Eggs a new Outlet Shopping brunch tradition. Good food and quick service but they charge for every little thing. Most restaurants will get you a side of sauce / salsa at no charge and they do charge here. That is fine but I wasn't aware of that so was just a bit shocking when I saw the bill that they charged us for sauce. read more

Disclaimer: this is a take out experience only. This restaurant is located in the old Taco Mania location. With that being said, it's taken a while to come here with the dingy remembrance of the old. However, this place has a light and airy feeling with smiles upon arrival. The patio is cute and inside has a cozy feeling. No experience with table service except for the smiles and polite cashier that handed over of the food. Now to the breakfast. Menu is exactly what a breakfast menu should be and then some. We had a variety of items from veggie to Benedict's to French Toast, all were great. There aren't many breakfast options that I truly crave in Gilroy(Westside being my fave) but this place competes. We were all super happy with our meals and when we try dine in, I'm sure my review will increase a star. BTW, togo bags were cute totes rather than paper or plastic. It wasn't anything better than store bought juice. Ordered it without noticing the price on menu but would never expect it to be $9! As for the service, the server dropped off the food and didn't even ask if we needed anything. We had to get up and get ketchup and hot sauce ourselves, which is a bummer. The only time the server asked if the food was okay was after we had already paid the bill. Careless service to be honest. Left feeling underwhelmed. I drove 1.5 hours away to try this restaurant that was recommended by a few friends. I walked in with my family and was impressed with the vast amount of choices this place had to offer. I was intrigued by the huevos rancheros. only problem is that I like the tortillas crispy on the side as well as the salsa. Before committing to this order, I asked the waitress if that could be done, she said it could so I proceeded to place my order. As my family completed thier order, I repeated my order and included the crispy side of tortillas to make sure it could be done. A few minutes later my order came in and the tortillas were drenched in salsa. I asked the waitress if I could get the side of crispy tortillas and she looked visibly irritated. The cashier/manager or owner asked her to give me a new plate.Immediately after that, the cook came out to get a look at me and my party and stoned back into the kitchen area. I also noticed a few comments were made, but I was not connecting the dots. I noticed that other people around me were getting coffee refills and asked if they were ok. Our table was put on ice and we were ignored. I had to go ask for a coffee refill as well as a to go cup and creamer. I would understand if I made a mistake in my order and had inconvenienced the waitress, but I repeated my order twice before committing to it. It blows my mind that this type of service was given to us after "they" got the order wrong. I came here for breakfast. I ordered one orange and carrot juice $9, and the green chilaquiles with sunny side eggs and steak, came out the total bill around $37. The waiter gave me the machine to pay. It was set up automatically tipped minimum of 22%. I personally think it's kinda high. So I tipped around %15 which also came out $42 for 1 person for breakfast. The waiter saw I didn't select the given tips, he was a little unhappy. But, 15% is good enough, $42 for 1 person for breakfast is expensive I think. The food was ok, the green chilaquiles is little bit sour and salty, no WOW factor. The orange juice is kinda sour also. The service is standard. It took quite long for the food to arrive. Overall, it was my first experience but I don't think I'd come back again any time soon because it's too expensive. The restaurant is small with outside and inside seating with small parking spaces. The yellow metal chairs are too stiff not comfortable, but the restaurant is clean. read more

I have given this establishment ample opportunity to respond to my complaint and seems as though I am being forwarded and ignored. IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD!! Yesterday, myself and my friend went to eat breakfast here and had the worst dining experience of our lives. Our server refused to let us modify our meals due to dietary restrictions and said "if we want to modify our meals we need to show him how to do it on his POS system and if we cant then we have to take the meal as it comes". Then, we ordered bottomless mimosas, he charged us for what I am guessing was two flights which is not what we wanted! He tried arguing with us on what we ordered. NOTE THE PRICES ARENT EVEN CORRECT ON THE MENU. He refused to show us our bill or even give us a receipt and commented on the tip I left him. IN BETWEEN THIS, he commented on my friends Spanish saying "he was surprised she spoke Spanish because she looks white" he also commented on my name on my debit card saying "you have the whitest name" it is NEVER OKAY to make those comments!! Especially if we are paying for service and a meal. I WANT A REFUND for the degrading experience I have had and never want to return. I have left a message, two emails and no response?! Make it right. I overpaid for a meal that wasn't even what I wanted with a racist server! Based on the no response I received, seems this company approves of this behavior. read more
