April 2, 2024 I decided to give Papas &Eggs another try after a wisby washy experience. 1st time the food was awesome. even tho a little on the high price side for a burrito, I was so impressed I knew I would be back. 2nd time-- it was okay, not like the first time and the fruit was rotten. i waited awhile before I tried it again.. 3rd time it was just blah, no awesome flavor like the first time. this LAST TIME, the 4th time, I tried a different burrito with ham and eggs. can't mess that up, right? it was dripping in grease. I didn't order a fried burrito but it was literally dripping in grease. I couldn't even understand how that could happen. Service was fast and friendly. Menu is a combination of Mexican and American food. I ordered the chorizo omelette, it was bland and there was more cheese than chorizo, also didn't come with tortillas-I was given English muffins instead. Food was average at best, will not return. read more

Disclaimer: this is a take out experience only. This restaurant is located in the old Taco Mania location. With that being said, it's taken a while to come here with the dingy remembrance of the old. However, this place has a light and airy feeling with smiles upon arrival. The patio is cute and inside has a cozy feeling. No experience with table service except for the smiles and polite cashier that handed over of the food. Now to the breakfast. Menu is exactly what a breakfast menu should be and then some. We had a variety of items from veggie to Benedict's to French Toast, all were great. There aren't many breakfast options that I truly crave in Gilroy(Westside being my fave) but this place competes. We were all super happy with our meals and when we try dine in, I'm sure my review will increase a star. BTW, togo bags were cute totes rather than paper or plastic. Walking into Papas and Eggs, I was shocked at how empty it was on a Friday. I assume I missed most of the rush, but what was more surprising was how excellent their chicken and waffles was. I was worried that some low-key restaurant would be using frozen goods, but I was proven wrong. A dish so simple yet so sweet and savory, done right. They made it from scratch, and I didn't need the waitress to tell me that. I don't write reviews often, but I felt compelled to especially because I was treated so nicely. You can smell the batter, it reminded me of a funnel cake. You can taste the chicken, just by seeing it's golden brown flaky coat. The combination satiated an appetite I had grown since 5a.m. which I carried through a final exam at UCSC. Our first time at this restaurant. It was busy and there was only one person waiting on tables. She apologized for the slow service, mentioned usually there are 2 on, but someone called in. I've had better eggs Benedict, these were pretty bland. The potatoes were well seasoned but they weren't enough to save the dish. Price was okay for the food, $18 is what I usually expect for eggs Benedict. The orange juice, which says it's fresh squeezed, was $9 however. That's ridiculous! It wasn't anything better than store bought juice. Ordered it without noticing the price on menu but would never expect it to be $9! As for the service, the server dropped off the food and didn't even ask if we needed anything. We had to get up and get ketchup and hot sauce ourselves, which is a bummer. The only time the server asked if the food was okay was after we had already paid the bill. Careless service to be honest. Left feeling underwhelmed. I normally don't hype up many places but this food is really good and well prepared. They are fast and friendly when it Not super crowded and the coffees are on point, especially the cafe de la olla. Also the menu is really well done with such a vast selection. I honestly love eating here. I have given this establishment ample opportunity to respond to my complaint and seems as though I am being forwarded and ignored. IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD!! Yesterday, myself and my friend went to eat breakfast here and had the worst dining experience of our lives. Our server refused to let us modify our meals due to dietary restrictions and said "if we want to modify our meals we need to show him how to do it on his POS system and if we cant then we have to take the meal as it comes". Then, we ordered bottomless mimosas, he charged us for what I am guessing was two flights which is not what we wanted! He tried arguing with us on what we ordered. NOTE THE PRICES ARENT EVEN CORRECT ON THE MENU. He refused to show us our bill or even give us a receipt and commented on the tip I left him. IN BETWEEN THIS, he commented on my friends Spanish saying "he was surprised she spoke Spanish because she looks white" he also commented on my name on my debit card saying "you have the whitest name" it is NEVER OKAY to make those comments!! Especially if we are paying for service and a meal. I WANT A REFUND for the degrading experience I have had and never want to return. I have left a message, two emails and no response?! Make it right. I overpaid for a meal that wasn't even what I wanted with a racist server! Based on the no response I received, seems this company approves of this behavior. read more

Good food and quick service but they charge for every little thing. Most restaurants will get you a side of sauce / salsa at no charge and they do charge here. That is fine but I wasn't aware of that so was just a bit shocking when I saw the bill that they charged us for sauce. read more

I was excited to try this place. Got here on Sunday around 10:30 am. Upon arriving we were immediately told that the kitchen was backed up and they wouldn't be able to order for about 15 minutes but they could seat us right away and could take our drink order. We were really hungry and thirsty but we decided that we would just wait. We sat at the table for 15 minutes without a drink order being taken. Finally, we flagged someone down so we could order a drink. After 30 minutes of waiting, we were able to put our order in. The waitress was really nice and friendly. The place is cute and they have an outside patio dining area. Restroom is located outside and you need a key. You can smell the sewage if you eat outside. The food was just ok. Kind of bland. Pancakes were dry. The only thing that I liked was the salsa. Waited another 15 minutes after we were done to get the check. Most likely wont be back. read more

Amazing breakfast spot! We stumbled upon this little nook after yelping and googling best breakfasts on our way back home from Santa Clara. The name of the restaurant drew us n further. I drove 1.5 hours away to try this restaurant that was recommended by a few friends. I walked in with my family and was impressed with the vast amount of choices this place had to offer. I was intrigued by the huevos rancheros. only problem is that I like the tortillas crispy on the side as well as the salsa. Before committing to this order, I asked the waitress if that could be done, she said it could so I proceeded to place my order. As my family completed thier order, I repeated my order and included the crispy side of tortillas to make sure it could be done. A few minutes later my order came in and the tortillas were drenched in salsa. I asked the waitress if I could get the side of crispy tortillas and she looked visibly irritated. The cashier/manager or owner asked her to give me a new plate.Immediately after that, the cook came out to get a look at me and my party and stoned back into the kitchen area. I also noticed a few comments were made, but I was not connecting the dots. I noticed that other people around me were getting coffee refills and asked if they were ok. Our table was put on ice and we were ignored. I had to go ask for a coffee refill as well as a to go cup and creamer. I would understand if I made a mistake in my order and had inconvenienced the waitress, but I repeated my order twice before committing to it. It blows my mind that this type of service was given to us after "they" got the order wrong. The food was good especially in comparison to other breakfast restaurant, but the service was mediocre and we were treated so poorly. read more
