It's really tough to beat the quality of pizza compared to the price. No delivery fees, tips, etc. when you order that cheapo delivery pizza, it always comes out way higher than you think. My first trip here had me majorly questioning my ability to follow instructions (hell, it had me questioning whether I was a total idiot). Was excited to take my pizza home and bake it myself. The weather was cooler (so ok to have the oven on) and I had taken great care in selecting my ingredients. I got home.... and this is where the number of Yelp stars awarded began drastically decreasing. Know that I'm very careful and regimented when it comes to instructions (IKEA, Google Maps, my mom yelling at me...). I followed the instructions to the last word. Halfway through the instructed baking time, we smell burning. Thankfully I took a look -- only to find our pizza burnt to a crisp on the bottom and sides. The oven was set to the exact temp (oven works fine), we put it on the recommended rack...but less than halfway through cooking it was burning. Really disappointing. I will say that the staff at the store were incredibly friendly, professional and helpful. Also (assuming no burning), the prices are equivalent to other pizza places. read more

My brother is a big fan...has been ordering from Papa Murphy's for quite a while. For some reason I just never gave them a shot. Well, we recently moved to Round Rock and this location is right next door to the HEB where we often shop, AND I saw a sign in the window that said they have $4.99 medium peperoni pizzas on Mon & Tues. SOLD! Each pizza comes on it's own ready-to-bake tray...just preheat the oven, toss it in and a few minutes later, piping fresh pizza pie! I still wasn't really sold...I mean, I can buy a frozen pizza from HEB for about the same price (and less without the Mon / Tues sale) but after the first bite, I knew I'd be back. It tasted like real, restaurant pizza right out of my oven! So, we've been back a couple of other times and brought a couple of pizzas to share with friends one night as well. Everyone has been quite impressed with the quality. Sure, you could order for delivery, or buy frozen, or even make your own from scratch...pizza is pretty versatile like that. But Papa Murphy's is just one other great way to have a pizza. I like the option and look forward to our next visit! Oh yeah, and all of the ladies who work at this location have been incredibly friendly as well! I'm very disappointed with this location. I'm a regular at this location, last Saturday my husband and I went in and we saw something that made us feel really uncomfortable, one of the employees was being abused by one of the customers and no manager stepped in to help. The customer was being extremely disrespectful for no apparent reason, even using inappropriate language. I recognized the worker, she has been taking my orders for months now and she's kinda shy but has always been really nice and helpful. Even after the incident she was very calm and helped us decide which pizza we wanted. Today I went to get my pizza and she wasn't there I can't believe that one incident may have cost this girl her job. I was there and the worker remained as calm as possible and tried to handle the situation as best she could. What a shame that the management handled this situation so poorly and unprofessionally. I am a fan of Papa Murphy's pizza, they have a nice variety & generally speaking the pizza while not gourmet is good. However I cannot recommend this particular location. While I'm sure they are in the business of making money, this store seems to do more to discourage you from spending your money there then they do to encourage repeat business. I will most likely take my business elsewhere or stop eating pizza altogether, most likely the former NOT the latter. read more

I enjoy Papa Murphy's, perhaps it's just this location. I had to change my diet recently do to allergies, so I am now vegan. The gourmet vegetarian is delicious, even without cheese. A few weeks ago, I ordered a gourmet vegetarian. Upon inspection, I found quite a few pieces of chicken. I called and informed them of the issue. They offered a free pizza and another at half off since I had to throw away the food. Their customer service is pretty great. So, last night I picked up my free gourmet vegetarian. #1--Always call ahead. Never a wait when you call ahead. #2--Always use a coupon. Papa Murphy's has coupons everywhere, including in the wrappers of every pizza they sell. Yes, I have had an occasional problem where they messed up the ingredients, or made the pizza with the wrong crust, but they always take care of it. I just don't see the point of this place. Unless I'm missing something, it only exists for people with more money than sense, who don't realize they're spending more money than it would cost to get something of similar quality fully cooked, just so they can feel crafty and homey for baking it themselves. You can get a fully cooked pizza made with quality ingredients for cheaper at Sam's Club. You can get a "take and bake" pizza for much cheaper at HEB next door. You can get a fully cooked pizza made with lower-quality ingredients at Little Caesar's. You can get a similar-quality pizza, fully cooked, for a similar price from Austin's pizza, Papa John's, or Pizza Hut. You can even get it delivered. Or if you want to cook it yourself, risk burning it, and all that fun stuff, you can frickin' make your own pizza with a three-ingredient dough recipe from allrecipes and 75 cents worth of quick yeast, again from HEB next door. Okay. The food is fairly tasty, which saves it from a one-star. Still, the wait is long, the price is not a good value, and the extra time and effort of cooking it added to the work and expense of going to the store to (essentially) pick up take-out is just. Not. Not bad at all. We got an order of the cheesesticks which were quite delicious. We also got a medium custom pizza with pepperoni, onions, peppers, sausage and it was also quite good. We definately won't be doing our Dijorno anymore despite Papa Murphy's being more expensive. The only thing however, is that 2 mediums is an excessive amount of food for 2 people. Also their cheesesticks are very heavy on the bread. Next time I will order the deLite (a lower calorie option with thin crust) as I generally like to avoid that "bloated" feeling you get from eating thick crust pizza. Noteworthy was the quality of their meats and veggies. I hated frozen pizza because the meats always tasted freezer burned, and the veggies were also soft. Not at this place! This is a good pizza, and with coupons its very reasonably priced considering you get/have to cook it yourself. Yes, you do have to cook this, hence why its called a take and ... uhoh, bake! Not a great dorm food, at all! But, for a home owner, with a family, this is a treat. You start with the cheese bread (its a pizza basically with no sauce and lots of garlic), and you move onto there very large, healthy amounts of sinful peperoni to make the pizza quite decent. Here is a hint, BUTTER the crust and slide it off the tray after 9 to 10 minutes, you do this and you got yourself a crispy, buttery delite!! I do have to say its consistent every time, and its even consistent up north 2000 miles away! Not the BEST, but certainly do-able and blows away the other cheap pizzas out there. So after a year yelp informed me that my review of papa Murphy's was taken down because it was too short. So I'm back to add some letters to my review so they have no excuse to remove it. Went in and was going to get a large pizza along with a drink. When I was making my purchase the cashier informed me that they do not take Bill's larger than a $20 bill. I asked where was the notice telling their customers. He shrugged. I then asked to speak to the manager. The manger came out and said yes that was their policy. I said you can surely break this bill yall seem busy enough. He said even if I had the change to break your bill I wouldn't. I said thank you and went to the HEB next door and got exactly what I wanted for half the price. Drinks and dessert include. I wont be back ever. I used to frequent this place a lot more often to buy pizzas for the kids, but with so many fast food pizza options closer to home it doesn't make a lot of sense to come here any more. I feel the pizza quality and price are right around what you would get at Domino's, Papa John's, Marco's, etc. The difference here is at the other places, you are bringing home a pizza ready to eat where here, you still have to heat up the oven, and cook it. They do have some desert pizzas like the S'mores and Cinnamon one that are pretty tasty and at $5 you can't go wrong, but as far as the regular pizzas, I would probably choose to just go with one of the fast food chain pizzas to feed the kids in the future. The stuffed pizzas here are a good concept for an alternative to something you can't get at most pizza places, but you have to be very careful to cook it just right so that it is not under cooked on the bottom and the crust or over cooked in the middle where the cheese starts to burn. There is so much dough, you have to time it just right. This location shares the parking lot with the HEB Plus on 79 and the parking lot is usually a mad house. Another negative to this particular location. They do now offer online ordering and coupons for 50% off which is nice. If you choose to order here, definitely go that route to save you some time of not having to sit there while they make your pizza. You could probably turn the oven on, leave the house to pick it up, and be back right about the time the pizzas are ready to go in the oven. read more

My family has been a fan of papa Murphy's for years however we were shocked by the service at this particular location. There have been numerous occasions when we have been given the wrong pizza, and treated poorly. What really got us was when we given a rough time for picking up a complimentary pizza (because they messed up our last order). The manager of all people was the one to gruel us about what pizza we had, when we had it, and he barely listened to our response. Help! My favorite pizza joint in the whole wide world has been taken over by aliens! I mean, how can you explain it when after going to this location for years--years, I tell you--and never having a single problem... And then suddenly...the following takes place over a period of a month...(yes, we eat a lot of pizza) 1. 1 person is working the counter and preparing pizza, yet in the back room there are several people...and no matter how long the line gets, they never come out and lend a hand. 2. The wait time! One time my husband waited 45 minutes for his pizza...because they were filling phone orders while a long line of customers stood waiting in the lobby...and for some reason they weren't filling the orders for the customers in the store. Yes, it is true! 3. My husband had to wait while they ran to HEB to buy more spinach. Really? I think that's a major pizza ingredient...something strange is happening here... 4. I'm not a doctor, but I swear that the guy who made my last pizza was stoned on some kind of drugs. I watched as he made my pizza in extreme slow motion...holding up the spoon when dropping sauce on my dough over and over again to watch drops of sauce fall...and then he molested my cheese. He reached in to the cheese bin and grabbed what looked like the entire container of cheese, and he caressed it as it fell from his hands back into the bin...and he looked really, really into it. 5. Some strange strategy where they made a bunch of dough and stretched it out on pizza pans, then sat it on this big shelf that they pulled in from the back room and sat next to the counter. Pizza dough sitting at room temperature...and there must have been some rejects because piled on top of the rack where at least 10 empty, dirty pizza pans. Now we dread going to this location...because we never know what's going to happen...and we have to carve out a long wait time. So disappointed, went by to pick up some pizza, we normally love them. My son is a very picky eater & will only eat the Mini Murph. I was informed that they were out. I asked " could you make one ?" and was told no, they the manager had told them to cut back on how many they made & they only make dough for them 2 times a week. , " Could you cut down a larger dough & make one I asked". Rant and Rave (mostly rave!) for Papa Murphy's by HEB Plus. I called in my order and was told it would take 40 minutes because they were understaffed. Cool, I'll wait at home. Time goes by and I finally go up there and there are at least 8 people in the store waiting. It took a while for the guy to ask my name and I tell him I called in my order. I paid and proceeded to wait. More time passes and people are slowly getting their orders and leaving. Soon, I'm the only one of the original 9 people from when I arrived. Then I notice 2 ladies had come in, ordered and received their pizzas within about a 5 minute span, yet I sat there waiting on 2 pizzas that still weren't ready. When they realized what was going on, I was asked my name and they started finally making my order. They must have seen the look on my face because I was NOT impressed. One of the guys walked up to me with two coupons for a free large 1-topping pizza. I happily accepted them and felt we were even. But THEN, the guy who I think was the manager, offered me a free side item. Swoon! You can totally win my heart with food, so I accepted the offer gracefully and silently called a truce. Papa Murphys is AWESOME! I have ordered pizza from this location 6 times and every order has been perfect. They make'em fast and delicious. I've had the pleasure to deal with their manager (Dylan) most of the times I was there, he's all ways welcoming and answered all of my questions. He is a great manager and knows his stuff.
