My friends and I went to Tavern Pizza for trivia. This is the first time we had been there…read more Unfortunately, it wasn't what we hoped for. I'll start with the one positive because I like to write positive reviews. This review is me being generous. This is purely my opinion after my experience. Unfortunately, the trivia company didn't show up. However, one of the employees stepped up and created a great name that tune game. She did a great job at it and everyone enjoyed it. The manager kept apologizing and thanked everyone for their patience which was very nice. Wish he had gotten his staff to be more friendly and helpful. Now to the points that aren't as positive. The restaurant was full because people wanted to come for trivia. The male server who seated us wouldn't give us a table even though we said we were going to eat and do trivia. That was annoying and frustrating. They only had two servers to care for the whole restaurant which was ridiculous. Our server was impossible to find and short with us most times. We managed to get some of the drink orders in before happy hour was over but missed others because she was nowhere to be found. My friend tried to get a drink at the bar in time but the bartender refused. When we got the drinks they weren't that good. Thankfully some of them were happy hour pricing or we would have been really mad. My friend and I shared the Chicago style deep dish which left a lot to be desired. The sauce was good but it was burnt and tough to eat. My other friend got the personal pineapple pizza and she enjoyed it. It's too bad it was such a negative experience because my friends and I love trivia and were trying to find new places to go in the North Hills to play.

We decided to give them a shot because there was a coupon on their website that was tempting, and I drive past there pretty often and wonder if it's any good. Welllllllll, I can now report that it is DELICIOUS! The crust has just enough crunch to it, and the toppings are well proportioned. We called in our order and the person who answered was pleasant and accommodating. I'm sure they were rushed so I made sure to have my requests ready. The pickup place itself is small but clean. There's plenty of parking (but be careful there are a few potholes!) We WILL order again.

The pizza was done on time and it was easy to pick up, with plenty of parking and polite staff. But, the pizza itself left a bit to be desired and was a bit chewy, and the breadsticks were thinner and a little more crisp on the bottom than others we've had. While I don't think we'll select this location again, I wouldn't complain if someone brought this pizza home for dinner.

For Western PA this is a 5 stars all day long. I've tried a million pizza shops in the Pittsburgh area and this is the closest I've had to East Coast pizza. It was so good that this will be my new go to pizza spot. The only criticism I will give it is that it was a little floppy but I understand that may be tough to fix since it was a thin. When you get the pizza just let it sit for a bit. If you're in the area there is zero reason to go anywhere else for pizza.

My husband and I stopped here for one dinner. A couple of indoor tables were available, but we ordered takeout. Employees promptly and politely served us. Here are my ratings for the foods that we ate: Traditional pizza - 4 stars - I ordered a medium pizza with toppings of green peppers and onions. This pizza was not the best but did taste good. Ham and cheese hoagie - 4 stars - My husband told the cashier that he did not want tomatoes, but the cook still put tomatoes on the hoagie. I picked them off. My husband did like the bread, ham, cheese, lettuce, mayo, onion, and dressing. I took one bite and thought that it was decent. The total price for these two menu items was $38 plus a tip.
