Both areas also had different vibes (music and aesthetic). The overall theme though pays homage to the towns train industry. The backroom where I ate had a "post war" music thing going with heavy Billie Holiday vibes; Jazzy, blues, relaxing music. Definitely felt more intimate and would be where you'd want to sit for a date. I went during the lunch hour and it was pretty empty, few people, but for a Thursday that's to be expected. Ordered the 10oz sirloin medium rare with the loaded baked potato. Order to table delivery was roughly 20 minutes, and the server was very polite. Approximate cost was ~$29. If you're wanting to do something nice for a loved one or take someone on a "fancy" date, this would be a place I'd recommend for the local area.

Out of baked potatoes at 5:15 . Waitress said it would be an hour before they were ready. A couple got salad with meal. Consisted of lettuce , two cherries tomatoes. We did not receive a vegi with our meal as stated on menu. So we asked. We were brought mixed vegis straight out of a can. Not even heated. Steaks were horrible. Chicken fried steaks so tough and couldn't chew. None of us ate our meal. A lot of money, terrible service and inedible food. Won't go back. Drive 10 minutes to Burrton and eat at the Barn. A bit embarrassing to feed guests for special occasion .

I clearly barely touched it since it was inedible. I asked for it to be taken off and they refused. I even told them to have someone from the kitchen taste it and the answer was still no. I even asked for grilled jalapeños. They came out totally cold. After they warmed them up, they were very good. Cost almost $20 for 6 jalapeño slices that were warmed. Very disappointed. Right next to our booth looked liked dried vomit. Im sure it was sauce but that should've been cleaned before we got there at 4:30!!! The wait staff was young and hardly came to table. We wanted to order drinks but 3 of the waitresses were chatting in a booth. Save your money and drive on by this place!

#55/2024 Wow I haven't been across this US highway coming…read moreout of Newton Kansas in a long long time. Usually I get as far as emporia that's the first time I've dropped down to Wichita too This place has been here for loads of years it is still a classic roadside diner vibe off of the bypass. The lady that owns in her family also work here they do a really good job of keeping everything up for what they have. It's like walking in the Easter year though it probably hasn't been remodeled since they took it over I don't think it's actually been remodeled since the late 80s but that's all right. When you walk in you're very feel welcomed you're welcome sit wherever you want they have two different dining room areas. I came in with a rumbling stomach that was just starting to growl and I was ready for some good old home cooking. So I ordered up a nice good cuz I knew they made a nice hand patted chicken fried steak. I had to taste for french fries and gravy brown gravy on the whole shebang. She also made me a nice fresh salad with lettuce tomato cucumber and cheese was very good too before the meal. They were having some water issues a boil order wasn't effect so there wasn't any soda available on the day I was there that afternoon and they did make cawfee though so I had that. Problem was the iced tea wasn't iced tea it was just hot tea they put it into the cooler they had just started making it. . She brought out the salad it was really nice quite filling. And the chicken fried steak dinner came out it was fantastic they gave me some extra fries I think I didn't ask for it but they were definitely quite a few fries to brown gravy was nice and hot. I left with a very happy belly That's one of the things I miss about that way a lot of times when I used to go out to places West California Arizona we're coming through Kansas I would avoid that Kansas turnpike and work my way across all the way to Hutchinson. And I used to like to stop in here because there is plenty of parking for trucks it's a dirt lot but that doesn't really matter it's just classic little small town in the middle of nowhere farmland. They also take major credit cards no problem. But it definitely was nice to see and I definitely enjoyed my meal and I'm rating the full five bar of stars all the way across like many other people who review here on Yelp basically realize you can't judge a book by its cover. They're very pleasantly surprised when you read their reviews also.
