I am a longtime patron of the Village Inn chain and have regular eaten at both Statesville locations and when they were open, locations in Mooresville and Cornelius. Even the smaller location on the Westside of Statesville will normally have at least 7 trays of pizza. I addition I ordered an unsweetened Iced Tea which is self-serve, but the canister of Unsweetened Iced Tea had so much Sugar in it, if I had tried to stick a spoon in it, it would have remained erect with any assistance. Granted that I have mobility issues and have to walk with a cane, when I tried to put my plate down so that I could get the tea, the went plop onto the floor. Not to pick of KFC but Bojangles are almost as bad when it comes to Unsweetened Tea. This one is kind of middle of the road for the area with some better and others a lot worse. The miss' opted for The Blue salad which had blackened chicken, bleu cheese crumbles and other veggies served with Texas Toast. The chicken was flavorful but had that rubbery consistency that most fast food chicken places are plagued by. They also initially gave her some kind of vinaigrette dressing as opposed the bleu cheese that it is supposed to come with. I ordered the Cajun Club which had some spongey grilled chicken with lettuce, tomato and bacon. The chicken had a nice spice to it but the bacon was extremely lame and flavorless. It also came with some fries, and that is one thing that Zaxby's definitely has going for it. They are those potatoey crinkle fries that are far superior to any thin fast food fry you will get at a burger joint. The quality of the chicken still left something to be desired, and the prices were a bit steep for fast food, but overall it wasn't a completely horrible experience. Zaxby's will be on our reserve list for the next time we are in desperate need of food while on the road and searching for a fast food fix.

We should have said something when we ordered about being on the clock but it was 130p before we got our food. I asked the waitress/bartender how things were going and she said "I don't know, I've not been to the kitchen". It was about 5 more minutes before the food came out and we were watching the clock closely and Ben said we were about 5 minutes away from where we ended to be. We knew we needed to eat quickly even though we were just about 5 minutes away. Ben's chicken was just huge chunks that looked more like nuggets than slices of chicken. He said it was OK. My salad was OK, they didn't have iceberg lettuce it was only romaine even though I told her I would like the mix, I didn't get it. I don't know what that's such a hard ask.
