Ordered two club sandwiches but they were not clubs--just regular sandwiches on white bread. Fries soaked in grease. Place did not look clean. I joined a group of Senior golfers at Woodbridge Golf Links on Veterans day and we went here for lunch after rain shortened our outing. This is home cooking, mostly comfort good, hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken tenders with fries and onion rings. They also have a dedicated counter where they serve up Tony's Ice Cream so you get some good milk shakes. It's lind of a 50's to 60's them restaurant with old records on the wall and photos of Elvis and the Beatles. They also have a decent sound system, playing the oldies. I have to say this place used to be the go to for ice cream and still is if you're not wanting to go to Tony's ice cream in Gatsonia. The food however is not the best if never really been much of a fan of it anyway really but over the years this place has gone down hill. There is one young guy that always gets my ice cream ready and honestly if it wasn't for him I'd probably only give this place 2 stars if that! We were very disappointed with our food. The salad was watery and lacked visual appeal and taste. The chicken tenders were skinny little chicken pencils that were over cooked. I did not get very many fries on my lunch plate. The coleslaw was unimpressive also. The kids burgers looked good and they got a descent amount of fries. The staff was friendly. Good food and ice cream! I recommend getting a shake. They are a little on the pricy side. Since COVID hit they have not been very safe. It's also made me notice that they are not very clean about their sanitary practices. I have had a friend and a family member die from COVID. It just makes me feel like they don't care about people. If putting on a mask and being clean could possibly help one human being why wouldn't you do it? It's called being a good human in my mind. I won't be back until at least the staff puts on masks or even just gloves. I don't want to support a business that doesn't care about others. read more

The main reason I'm giving this place two stars was because of the gentleman that were working the ice cream part of the establishment. They were not wearing gloves and were scooping the ice cream with their thumbs. It was absolutely disgusting that they would touch money/cards and then "accidentally" touch ice cream that someone would eat. Surprised there weren't more health code violations. read more

I've found this spot to be incredibly unwelcoming. The food is, unfortunately, no better than you can make at home with minimal effort. The ice cream is nothing special. If our family or friends are getting something to eat in Kings Mountain or all of the surrounding area, Swooger's is at the bottom of the list. read more

The food is good. But I think it's very unprofessional the way they just stop answering the phone at 7:45. They close the grill at 8 PM and just stop answering the phone at 7:45 so they won't get any more orders. (They serve ice cream until 10 PM.) I tried calling in my order while driving over there from about 7:30 until 7:45 and could not get them to answer. When I arrived at 7:50 I dialed again as I walked through the door just to see their reaction. There was at least three people that walked by the phone and just ignored it. They weren't busy. Just wiping down counters and cleaning up. As the girl stepped up to take my food order (yes you can order in person up until 8. But only up to 7:45 via phone), I said "Just as I figured. Everyone here could hear the phone ringing, but you just decided to ignore it and not answer it." "Sir, we don't answer the phone after 7:45." Really??? Spend $20 on and answering machine and turn on a message at 7:45 instead of leaving your customers dangling in the wind and pissed off because you're too damn lazy to pick up the phone. Definitely a place where the locals eat. The food is basic, nothing signature but it isn't bad either. They serve Tony 's ice cream here which is always yummy. It has a 50's diner feel to it, so if you're feeling nostalgic make some time to visit. Service is good as well, mostly made up of the high school kids that live in the area. This is a good place to stop in, grab a quick bite to eat with your kids on your way out of Kings Mountain if you're just visiting. read more

A little dive of s place but a can't miss if you are on the area. They have great ice cream, unusual flavors and great prices. When they handed me my sons two scoop cone of peach ice cream it was huge. Friday is when they get their delivery from "tony" so be sure you visit then to be able to try all the flavors. My husband and I went there on a Tuesday afternoon. I asked if I could try a taste of chicken salad to be sure I would like it before I ordered a sandwich and the young man taking my order said no problem and went to get a sample in a little cup for me, but I saw one of the girls behind the counter shake her head so he came back and said sorry, the chicken salad was already portioned out for sandwiches. Okay, no problem, I work in restaurants, I understand portioning. I order the chicken salad anyway, assured by the young man that it is good. While we wait for our food (which took 20 minutes for a burger, a sandwich, and two small fries) I am watching the girls in the kitchen making the orders. I watch the girl pick up a two quart container full of chicken salad and put two scoops on my bread! Then they GRILLED it, which means the mayo - which is about 85% of the "chicken" salad - is hot and runny. Lies and runny food. I didn't complain then, frankly I was so angry about being lied to I was afraid of what I might say, but rest assured I will NOT be going there again. read more

My family held a 90th birthday party for our mom at Swooger's on a Sunday afternoon, when they are normally closed. Tom and his staff were really helpful and enthusiastic from the very beginning, and worked with us to make the party a wonderful event. Mom was delighted.
