I love the cabin aesthetic of the cafe. There are chairs and a table outside on the porch. Inside there are tons of seats. It's June and they have a Christmas tree (favorite holiday!). As a book girl I love that they have blind date with a book and a bookshelf with books. I also enjoyed the music selection. The staff were friendly. I got a Honey Nut Cheerios latte. Delicious! It's sweet so if you don't like sweet then it will not be for you. I also got a bacon, egg, and cheese. Which there was a little more food in the sandwich but it was still filling. We were playing on ordering and eating on the road but decided to sit and eat. I would definitely go back. read more

Lovely country cafe with good food, excellent coffee, friendly staff, and Christian music in the background. I had the Spinach and Feta quiche and cranberry orange muffin, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The Christian music in the background was a balm to my soul. A great start to my day! read more

First visit to Big Red's Cafe and it did NOT disappoint! We tried the Kickin' Chicken with pasta salad and The Big Red with potato salad -- and wow... every bite was delicious! The service was friendly, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. Safe to say we'll definitely be back because there are SO many more things on the menu we can't wait to try! read more

Pretty cute spot. Went there after a hike in Crowder's mountain. Foodwise the sandwiches are quite small. Didn't hit the spot. But the place is pretty nice for a casual coffee date with some pastries and coffee read more

Came to Big Red's Cafe this morning and my experience was great. It was nice and quiet this Monday morning with only a few customers in the building. I walked up to the counter and got some pretty quick and polite service. I had the turkey bacon panini and it was delicious. The coffee was great as well. Overall had a great experience here and will be coming back! read more

Coffee is great, staff are super nice, food was good but a bit small if you're wanting a meal. The vibe in the cafe is relaxed and has multiple seating options from couches to tables. They have sweets to and baked goods. If they beefed up the sandwich portions I'd be a bigger fan. I dig the place and we will be back for coffee for sure. read more

Yum yum yum!!! Traveler here who was looking for breakfast options after leaving an airbnb in Mount Holly. Conveniently close/short drive to the highway too. The staff are so friendly, and I love the wooden theme all around, and best of all the food is yum-my!! We got the mini donuts (fried fresh to order - it was a restorative experience watching my batch get made!) and a bacon egg cheese on a wrap (tip - they can also do on a croissant or on a bagel) and it was perfection. We especially loved that the wrap was pressed in a panini machine - so that it was slightly crispy outside but most of all, retained the warmth longer as we ate ours slowly on the drive to our next destination. Again, we are passerbys but it we are back in the area we will definitely stop by a second time! read more

Our food was hot and fresh. They have a simple menu but everything thing we tried was delicious and well priced. Employees were very nice and patient when my girls couldn't decide on a milkshake flavor ( they use real ice cream for a nice thick shake) Service was prompt and friendly and the ambiance was cool. It was clean and inviting log cabin vibe read more

We drove an hour and a half to finally check this place off our "must-try" list. We wanted to grab some food, try the coffee flights, and then go hiking with family for Labor Day. Easy enough, right? Wrong. We got there at 12:50, only to be told the grill was too dirty to make food. They said they had to close the grill because it needed to be cleaned. Apparently, the grill had just seen some things it could never unsee, and staff decided it needed therapy instead of cooking. Now, I get it--cleaning is important. But if you close at 2:00, I don't expect the grill to go into early retirement at 12:50. 1:45? Sure. But 12:50? That's not "closing early," that's the grill calling it a half day. They told us there was "food all over the grill." I mean, isn't that literally the grill's job description? After waiting over a year to try this spot, it was a big letdown. read more

I grabbed a bite here after hiking Crowder's Mountain. Fairly stereotypical close to the border of South Carolina so I was welcomed with Christian music & southern accents. The service was good, & quick. Plus I'd you check in with Yelp you can get a free brownie! I opted for the white chocolate pumpkin mocha which was decent, but nothing over the top amazing. My panini was good too, & I like that you can do pasta salad as a side, that's different. The brownie was noting special but I can't complain because it was free. All in all I spent about $20. read more

I usually go to Big Red's for lunch but I always leave with a coffee and a mini donuts. Staff are friendly & prompt, which I appreciate. I feel like I never have to wait long after ordering. The frappes are delicious & the donuts specials change weekly, which are worth a weekly visit. The chicken salad sandwich croissant is amazing & flavorful & the turkey grinder is very satisfying. If you're looking for breakfast the bagels decent but the Belgian waffles are really tasty. You have the option of bar seating, tables, booth or a couch plus a couple of outdoor seating options. Overall it's a wonderful little cafe for lunch & treats! read more

The food is always so good, and the staff is always friendly! We heard the there were closing earlier then normal so we made sure to get there an hour and half before they closed since it is COMPLETELY NORMAL to close the grill/kitchen an hour before close! this is a coffee shop not Mcdonald's. these comments are ridiculous, these workers are trying there best to make each customer experience special and not to serve dirty food from a dirty grill. read more

Went at 12:50 and drove an hour to get here and we weren't not able to order any food because they closed at 2. I work in a kitchen of a restaurant and understand to respect policies but if you say you are open until 2 then you should at least serve food until 1:45. read more

Went in at 6:20. The girls working asked us if we were going to order food. We told them yea, just to be told that they already cleaned up the presses and turned them off so they couldn't serve us food. They aren't supposed to do that. They are open until 7. And when we asked them if they could turn them on, they said, well we could but we already cleaned them. Smh. We will not be back and would not recommend coming here. read more

Quaint little cafe in Kings Mountain. We came here after hiking at crowders and it was the perfect lunch spot. They have a nice covered porch to sit outside when the weather is nice and then also some cozy seating inside as well. I ordered the BLT and potato salad. Nothing fancy but it really hit the spot and I really enjoyed it. I also ordered the Carmel macchiato. Also super delish! And lastly I used the check in deal with yelp to get 5 assorted mini donuts and I am glad I did because they were so yummy! Next time I come I will definitely be ordering these again . If you are in the area I definitely recommend this place for lunch or brunch or just coffee and dessert. read more

I definitely do not love the name patriot Jack's it's very political and military like and we are not for that you know it's 2024. The café is good though, but can you hire some people of color because there's too many white people working in there. And if you haven't already mad, suggest some vegan options such as coconut milk or oat milk for your coffee's. Thanks!!!!!' read more

Came because of the abundance of raving, 5 star reviews. Service was very slow despite there being maybe 3 other people in the shop. Employees all seemed very confused and lost. I have worked in a coffee/lunch place for several years and was impressed at how slow everyone was moving lol. Took 25 minutes to get our 2 coffees and 1 wrap. Coffee was alright. Wrap was good. Pasta salad was awful. Vibe was really uncomfortable and awkward. Lady next to us found a condom on the floor?? Everything was just kind of gross. We left feeling like we needed to take a shower. read more
