This was a family night out. I went really excited because I know fish camps fry most of their food. Since I've never eaten there, figured I would get the combo plate to try all they offer and narrow down to what I like. Y'all... this is what I got! A big ole' bunch of er-thang. Hard part was, I liked it all and couldn't narrow down tonone fav. If I had to eliminate one thing, it would be the fries. Not because they weren't good (dipped them in malt vinegar) but because I don't really eat fries. There is no place else you can go in Charlotte and get such a healthy serving for $23. First time visit. Wow, it's like being in Calabash, North Carolina with fresh fried shrimp covering your plate. Huge servings, great cocktail sauce, and tartar sauce. Mmm those hush puppies!! Awesome food and the best place to eat fish around town!!! I usually go with the Philly cheese steak but I instead went with the salt and pepper flounder and it was great! The wife and I usually get it called in and take it home to eat but either way the service is always the best whether it's answering the phone quickly or taking your order! Not Happy that I had to pay $.50 for salt and pepper on "salt and pepper"catfish fillet! Substituted a salad for my slaw & was charged a dollar for brown salad. And just know that you will be charged a percentage for using a card to pay with. Until yesterday I would always make stopping at Love's Fish Box a priority when traveling to/through Kings Mountain, NC. I ordered the 3 combo of oysters, butterfly shrimp and flounder. The cashier asked me if I wanted salt and pepper. I said yes. When I received my food it was so heavily peppered that it burned my throat and stomach. See pictures. I went back to a cashier to advise of how much it was peppered that I couldn't eat it. I owned that I asked for salt and pepper but had no idea of the amount of pepper that would be used. She took my food and said ok. I went back to my seat thinking it would be remade. She came back about 5 minutes later stating that the manager Ashley said that it was over a $20 meal and that if it was remade I would have to pay for a replacement. It was my birthday so I really wanted to continue on with having a great day so I didn't make a fuss. I took the food back. I was extremely disappointed. I felt this establishment could have cared less whether or not I would return or didn't care about me as a customer. I will not return and definitely will not recommend anyone else support such non customer service oriented place. Love's fish was fried crispy, even in our takeout box, and everything didn't taste the same like it was all in the same vat of oil, as some fried fish and chicken restaurants do. The cooks drained everything well. This was our first visit and, considering COVID-19 restrictions, we were very pleased with our takeout experience. We ate the seafood platter and were impressed with the flavor of the flounder, perch, shrimp, scallops, oysters, deviled crab, hushpuppies, fries and slaw, which all came in our seafood platter for $18. My wife and I actually shared the platter and had more food leftover for later! This place gets crowded but has plenty of parking. The restaurant isn't too far from I-85 or Highway 74. Be aware that you'll incur an extra charge for using your card if you don't have cash. There is space to eat in, but check on availability, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. read more

Not clean and broken high chairs. Had to go through 4 high chairs before I found one where the buckle was not broken. We cleaned the table and there was a black soot on the bottom of the towel used for wiping. Management was very rude when brought to their attention. Never again. The greasy, fatty food sits out all day then is thrown in a box by an employee without gloves. My "chicken sandwich" was a bunch of small chicken tenders that were mostly breading; the bun tasted like it was bought from Costco. I am not a fan of southern food, but this was disgusting. This was our first time to Loves as we have always heard such good things about it but unfortunately we probably won't be going very much because our fried chicken tenders and shrimp were just luke warm and our fries essentially cold. Fried food should be piping hot when given to a customer and they clearly just let it sit somewhere probably the whole time we waited. We waited about 35-40 minutes. They were very friendly and the flavor of the food was good so this is disappointing. I'm sure it would be a great place if they just served it hot. I see several other reviews where this has been a problem so this also will probably keep us from frequenting. read more

I learned today that ordering a LARGE catfish dinner/platter is even too much for my fat-***. I had a small epiphany this visit (that's like an orgasm of the brain for those that don't know the meaning). Usually when I order food of this variety (read: fried, w/ fries, etc.), the restaurant puts more fries on top to cover whatever it is you are ordering. Nope, not this place... I think I got around eight whole catfish fillets (in Salt 'n Pepper) and just enough fries to say that I had some. I did however, have a handful of hush-puppies, which aren't your typical roundy-round variety, but irregular shaped little nuggets of whatever it is heaven is supposed to look like. We have been going to Loves since it was a tiny take out place. Since then they have added many items for the non seafood lover. Salads, chicken tenders, veggies etc. I really love their slaw and hush puppies. Beware if you have peanut allergies as everything is fried in peanut oil (unless they've changed).
