Popular local fish house conveniently located on US74. Parking can be a little tight when busy…read more Orders are taken immediately after entering, using a large menu board behind the hostess's stand. There is little time to consider the choices when busy, and locals who know what they want proceed quickly, first timers may end up rushing their order and choose poorly. Payment is taken at a separate counter, and tips are solicited before you have received your food. Avoid choosing a table near the exit as it can be drafty and has lots of foot traffic. Drink cups are provided for self serv beverages. Food is delivered hot and fresh from the kitchen. There is a large variety of primarily fried seafood choices, with mostly fries and slaw for sides; baked potatoes don't seem to be offered. Entrees are offered in small and large sizes, and portions are large, with mounds of fish, fries and hush puppies on each plate. The dining area can be crowded and noisy, especially when returning for refills to the busy drink dispensers. If you need a to-go box, you will find them there. Overall, this bustling restaurant offers large portions in return for minimum service. Entrees are in the $15 -$20 range despite the do-it-yourself nature of the dining room. If you want table service this is not your place!

Old style Fish Camp Restaurant! I grew up with 3 main Fish Camp Restaurants in Shelby (Beatty's…read moreFish Camp, Shelby Fish Camp, and Kelly's) but now Kelly's is the only main one left. They are family owned and cater to Cleveland County families and more (surrounding areas). It's a great place to take the family. Kelly's is child friendly and even has a children's menu. They also have a Seniors menu. They only have fried food though. No baked seafood nor baked potatoes. I would love to see broiled entree's and wouldn't mind paying a little over the fried food prices. As long as it wasn't doubled! LOL! So try them out. You'll love the results! :-) Their slaw is so scrumptious and their hush puppies are to die for. They also have fried pickles and fried chicken. Which my husband loves. But he also loves their fish! Cleveland County is known for their BBQ (Red Bridges BBQ and Alston's (Bridges BBQ) but our Seafood is made just as famous by Kelly's Seafood.

Shelby, NC. Where do I begin. I've been traveling through this town for many years as it was always…read morea travel connector to both sets of grandparents who lived in Forest City as I was growing up. Never ever considered stopping for food here because getting through the city on 74 is tough enough as time seems to stand still here because no one, and I mean no one is moving quickly here. As the current situation is Shelby is now the half way point from my our home to where my daughter and grandson moved 1 1/2 hours away. Tuesday night we made the trek to pick up the grand for a sleep over, meeting half way at The Creekside Clock for dinner. In the entry way there is a sign stating that food is made to order so please be patient. OK. We got plenty of patience. Walk up to the counter and place your order, HUH??? Can I take a look at a menu? Sure, put on your glasses and read from the menu board. Sorry! I wasn't prepared for that. Menu looks great. There is a lot of variety and daily specials. We placed 3 separate orders, probably the first mistake as we were all sitting together, just not paying together. I am not a fan of paying before you get your food. Tip? What am I tipping? We sit with our little numbers on sticks at our table and a waitress comes to review our tickets and bring our drinks. So far so good. Ok now we wait. I can see the kitchen window and there are 6 heads in view and they appear to be super busy prepping and getting out the food. Apparently that wasn't the case. First order arrives, baked potato and chicken sandwich looks yum! A side salad was also delivered. A good bit later my meatloaf and fiancé's combination seafood plate and the grands shrimp. All looks good, alas, there is nothing on my plate that is even warm. I Asked if they had a microwave they could reheat my plate, it was that cold. Found out also that the chick sandwich and potato that was delivered first was not warm either. Still waiting on a steak and steak tips at this point everyone else was pretty much done with their food. The steak was good, again the potato cold. I am really shocked by all of the good Google reviews for this place. Although the menu looks nice. For them to boast that food is made to order, and not even serve the food warm along with the horrible execution, this was a one and done for us!

Having never been I was a bit overwhelmed by all the choices and let my wife order for us while I found a table. The floors were sticky, the table was stick, and some moron was on their phone using speaker phone. My wife ordered two Philly Cheesesteaks making one a 'jumbo' to include onion rings, fries, and a drink. Service was friendly & helpful for us newcomers and the food was delivered quickly by the friendly staff. So as much as I was concerned about sticky floors and all that, the food really was delicious. The cheesesteaks seemed to be more bun than meat, but honestly it was a perfect balance of meat, cheese, grilled onion AND a PERFECTLY crispy AND soft bun. The sandwich truly was magnificent and really well balanced/proportioned. I thought the rings were a bit under cooked, but I was fooled again! Onion was soft, well cooked, and flavorful. Fried were definitely undercooked but I don't generally eat French fries so all good. Cole Slaw was middle of the road. I struggle with a rating but sticky floors, sticky table along with a few environmental things really drag down my overall perception. Friendly/competent staff and an excellent sandwich will hold a steady rating of three. Would I eat there again? It is on of the few unique non-chains in the area and I know what to expect going in. So if I need to stop on the area, I'd more than likely stop again thanks to staff and food!

Best thing we had was the buffalo chicken wrap. I'll update the review once we come back again. I'm gonna pass on the fries and onion rings next time though, they aren't with the extra $3. The restaurant feels like a diner but you order at the counter and bus your own tables. Pete's has so many items on the menu I'm sure we will find our favorites soon!
