For a small town restaurant it checked all the boxes. The menu was varied and offered something for everyone, food was hot and fresh, portions were generous, service was friendly and efficient, the restaurant and bathrooms were clean pleasant. We went in to eat and before we sat down, I noticed a large, dead, stepped on roach in the floor. We left before we got seated and I informed the waitress that there was a large dead roach in the floor. Her response (before I could even show her the bug) was, "oh, honey. Food is home cooking style and very good. Large menu with so many options. Service is prompt and friendly. Restaurant is fairly large and clean. Generous portions of food are served and price is probably average for this type of family restaurant. Normally return every couple of weeks for a good, satisfying meal. Went here on a Sunday around noon. Pretty packed but we got a table right away. I got a cup of the soup of the day which was vegetable for $2.45 to start with. I also got a tossed salad which was okay but the ranch dressing was good. I got the chopped sirloin with onions and gravy and it was delicious. The mashed potatoes and gravy paired well with this entree. We also got the baked chicken with dressing with sides fried squash and potato salad. Both sides were good except the fried squash was better when it was hot. The baked chicken was soft and juicy but the gravy on the dressing was a bit salty for my liking. Overall this place was great and we'd come back again. We got a lot of food for a low low price bc of if the Sunday deals. We got all of the above for under $20. read more

Mountain View one restaurant that is consistent with their friendliness and good food. I love how the staff interact with customers like old friends! I ordered the seafood combination, with jumbo shrimp and flounder. Everything tasted so fresh and crispy. I opted for the green beans and candied yams for the sides. I will say that I felt like I got my money's worth and had plenty to take home. Their menu offers a variety of food, making options for everyone in the family. The turkey and dressing special two days a week is like my own recipe. This is my favorite place to eat after church on Sundays!

Located in Kings Mountain a short distance from I-85 we decided we wanted some southern home style food and selected this place as it was on our way. Upon entering it reminded me of several similar style places in my small NC hometown that had been around for ages and served good comfort food - what I grew up with. The staff was friendly and both my wife and I were quickly able to find what we wanted from the menu - I got grilled chicken livers with turnip greens and another side and my wife got the salisbury steak and two sides as well as iced tea. Portions were great for the price which was reasonable and inexpensive in my opinion. Bread was also served. Parking right in front of the building and was easy to find. I recommend if you like southern comfort family style food and we will be back next time we are in the area!! read more

You get a ton of food here for a low price. We've been twice, once for lunch and then more than a year later for breakfast. They have perhaps the BEST GRITS we've ever had in a restaurant. They also have delicious, big, flaky, buttery, brown biscuits. Eggs are good. Sausage was good. Omelette was good. Gravy is okay. Breakfast with tip cost us $17.25. When we went for lunch, I got a BBQ special with hushpuppies and two sides for $6.75. My wife got a cheeseburger and fries for $5.25. We ate with drink and tip for $18...and were very full! That's a steal this day in time. Our service was great--including the waitress reading my wife's mind that she'd want ranch dressing with her fries. The waitress also tried her best to get seasoning for the fries as my wife requested. Whatever the meal, we were full and satisfied when we leave Mountain View. read more

I've been here several times now with my parents. They like it for some reason. They would probably rate it 4 stars, but they also think I eat weird (ethnic) food. I always get a side salad. Mostly because they do have good ranch and I like to dip crackers in it. The salad consists of iceberg, a wedge of tomato, a slice of cucumber, and a few slices of red onion. My mom's had some bits of carrots. I've tried italian food, a sandwich, bbq, and on my most recent visit, a veggie plate. I can honestly say I've never had food I liked here, ranch aside. Terrible. Literally no way around it. The food is cheaply made, waitresses and our hostess we're terrible. We use to eat here once a week. I brought my twin babies 15 months old. The hostess brings us one high chair and never comes back. I go get the other one and our waitress said oh maybe he didn't see them. Are you blind? You even asked if I needed two?! Anyway she was rude from the get go. The food was and usually is cold and you can tell it's been sitting. I've tried this place several times and I'm always disappointed. The food is bland and uncreative. The service is mixed depending on what day you go. It's your classic hometown restaurant, but unfortunately locals who don't know good food think this place is good. I would much rather suggest Cherokee pizzeria or the Cherokee restaurant to go for something good to eat. Mountain View is my favorite restaurant. It's a hole in the wall, the staff is always so friendly. My favorites are chicken and dumplings on wednesdays and the marinated beef strips every other day! Fantastic steaks, pasta, fish, literally everything I've had is wonderful. The building isn't beautiful by any means, but the atmosphere is what I love most. read more

Staff is always friendly and many have made the effort to remember my family and little details about us. The daily specials are a bargin and the location is always clean. I am a resident of Kings Mountain, and have never written a review, I do read them from time to time. After my experience Saturday night, I've decided to write one. I have eaten at Mountain View on several occasions, however on Saturday, 04/02/2016 @ 8:40, I placed a take out order of : Country Style Steak & Gravy over Rice, Green Beans, and Fried Okra, which would also include one Roll and a Cornbread Muffin.(Sounds good, right ?) Picked up the order @ 8:55 (they close at 9:00 PM) My order was ready, and waiting for me. I only ate the Okra and Bread, after two bites of the Gravy and Rice, I couldn't force myself to taste the meat ! I have yet to determine what it was I was tasting in the background of that awful gravy. I, at first wanted to blame it on the time, but I can't do that, because there is no excuse, for serving the public, food tasting like that ! In my opinion, whoever made that AWFUL Gravy should be FIRED ! It was AWFUL !! Green Beans ? I love GB, only ate a few bites of them, (who can't fix Green Beans !! I'm not one to say never, but if I will NEVER, EVER, eat at Mountain View Restaurant in Kings Mountain again !! Mountain View, but you guys should be ashamed !! read more
