footling and fries
Daniel P.

figured it's worth a shot... sometimes a person figures wrong. should've taken the hint when the map-o-matic left me across the street near the Walgreens but nope, not me. I searched out and found a tired little spot currently operating as a take out with all the old booths pushed none to carefully to one side of the room... requested the footlong special all the way plus fries and a coke which came up quickly. I got out to the car and found a small piece of shade and if I had to pick a word for what I unwrapped I'd go with artless: too long in the steamer? and chili from a can? onions but no slaw and the fries were limp. still eatable... but not especially enjoyable. so is it just Tuesday, or is it every day?

Cheapest lunch/dinner ever.

I spotted this place while passing by for work in the area. There were plenty of cars during lunch so I figured I should check them out. It's a local quick food joint known for their foot long hot dogs. Extremely quick, cheap, and decent burgers and hot dogs. I love their fries! It's better than the McDonald's nearby. I ordered the chili cheese hot dog with onions and slaw. It was good. I will admit the cheeseburger with onions was better. Both were ready by the time I finished checking out and made it to the "order pick up" area. Can't beat that! The customer service was basic. You simply place your order and you're done. Nothing special or extra about it.

Their hotdogs and fries I give 5.5 stars, like the rest of Kings Mountain customer service I give 1- star really bad.

This place is a KM hotspot but to us is just ok. It's very similar to a roadside hotdog stand and I find the meat to be way too thick.

They are sloppy, messy hotdogs, but mmmmmm they are so GOOD! Best I have ever had. You can't beat the price, either.

Awesome food and great workers there very friendly. Next time I'm bringing the whole crowdread more

Last week, I found myself in western North Carolina, just outside of Charlotte, for a running event…read morein Gastonia. That said, my hotel and dining radius leaned more toward Kings Mountain, NC, so that's where this story actually takes place. I arrived a bit early, checked into the hotel, swung by the venue to grab my packet, chatted with a few fellow runners, and then the most important question of the evening came up. Where are we eating? After a little web surfing, I landed on a spot called 238 Cherokee Grill. It was conveniently located near both the venue and the hotel, which immediately put it in the lead. My friend Jeff and I pointed ourselves in that direction. It was a Friday night, and the place was buzzing. We were told there would be about a 10-minute wait for a table. That slowly stretched into more like 15 to 20 minutes, but when two seats opened up at the bar, we made a quick executive decision and grabbed them. The bartender checked in fairly quickly, despite being clearly slammed. Once we had their attention, we ordered right away to keep things moving. I went with the classic burger, upgraded with lettuce, mushrooms, grilled onions, and a side of fries, ordered medium. Jeff went with the Smothered Chicken. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and everything hit the bar hot. The burger leaned a little more medium-rare than medium, which honestly worked in my favor. Good flavor, solid burger. The fries were hot and crispy, exactly how I wanted them after a day of travel and packet pickup. No complaints from either of us. Portions were solid, and the prices felt fair for what you get. The only real downside was that initial wait. There isn't much of an entryway to hang out in, and with the cold weather outside, that part wasn't exactly comfortable. That said, the staff was friendly, the service was solid, and the overall experience was a win. Would I go back if I'm in the area again? Yep. The menu had a few other things that caught my eye, and I'd happily give them a shot next time.

Everything went very well! We were greeted about 2 minutes upon arrival. The food came pretty…read morequickly but was fresh, hot and very good. The jumbo cheeseburger meal was delicious. One of my favorite parts was that they give whole pieces of bacon, unlike other places, the bacon is cut and they put a few pieces but this one was so good and the bacon was fresh and crispy as well too! My Husband and I did not go inside because it was raining but you could also tell everyone gets in and gets out. We did not see one person to pull up and stay to eat after getting their order, everyone pulled off right away. Overall, the workers were kind and the food was amazing. I have no complaints, only compliments!

Let me start by saying the burgers and hotdog are great. But here's where the issue comes in. My…read morehusband and I have been frequently coming there for at least six months-- probably at least once or twice a week. I asked for a burger with slaw and chili on the side as I didn't want it to get soggy on the 30 minute drive home. Yes you heard that right 30 minute drive home. She informed me that there would be an up charge. Not to mention a VERY small cup of chili is three dollars. I declined as I thought "it's not that big of a deal right". Proceed to open up my burger when I get home and the bun is literally soggy and falling apart. I have been in the Food service business for quite some time and I have never heard of a charge for putting WET condiments on the side. I called and asked about it. The lady was extremely rude and couldn't give me an explanation as to why. As much as we really love this place, after the last couple visits, we will not be returning! I did want to mention, there is a young girl approximately mid to late 20s with Sandy blonde hair who is extremely friendly. She always works during the day and I believe up until around 4 o'clock! She is wonderful
