Combo soft taco, chili relleno, rice and beans.

My Daughter and I happened to be in the area due to a scheduled photo shoot and per usual, I looked on Yelp for Mexican Restaurants in the area as Mexican is usually our go to for a quick lunch. The chips were good, but the salsa lacked flavor. I asked our waiter if they had any hotter sauce, he said yes, but never brought it. The combinations were pretty standard Mexican fare. I love their version of the Chili Relleno. It reminds me of the same at my favorite Charlotte Mexican restaurant. If I am ever in the area again, I would order a plate of three of them for sure. Service was lacking put the food was pretty good over all.

Chicken and Beef Fajitas! Very tasty!

The food was good! I would have preferred, at least 4 pieces of pita bread, and more meat. I love vegetables, bell peppers and onions; but wow, I had way too many onions and bell peppers! I would have preferred more meat. Here is what was l had left after making a wrap for me and my fiancé. Nevertheless, I will go back, and hopefully, they will take my comments into consideration!

    Nachos with lettuce... blasphemy

So, I've seen a lot of people complaint about the service. I did not experience anything wrong with the service. Our waiter was friendly, and helpful, and otherwise good. Yeah, it was a little slow, but not so much that it was noticeable. Sadly, that's about as positive I am going to have to give this place. The food was atrocious! This place isn't an insult to Mexican food, or even Mexican-themed food (which is more appropriate for these so-called "Mexican" restaurants), but an insult to food as a whole!!! I ordered what I believe was called Tarascos Special which came with chicken, rice, beans, I think a couple of tamales, ground beef, salad, avocado, and "4 nachos". I was unable to find this dish on their online menu as I write this, but I recall my friend and I ordering this specifically because we wanted to know what exactly "4 nachos" mean. Sadly, this question would never be answered as what was plopped down in front of me was what I would call Mexican-themed version of a Garbage Plate (look it up if you don't know what that is). I could not tell what anything was or where one thing ended and the other began. It wasn't pleasant to look at. Not to mention, it was NOT GOOD! Towards the end, I gagged trying to finish the last bite. My friend ordered some sort of nachos dish, which of course came with fuckin' shredded iceberg lettuce... lettuce... on nachos.. not just lettuce, but iceberg lettuce. F YOU! So, yeah, never going back here. As another poster said, you're better off going to the Taco Bell across the street.

    Neat and shiny interiors

The first thing you notice here are the bright orange walls which gives you the Mexican feel and warmth. It felt like I was in New Mexico. Am not really sure how old the restaurant is but their brand new hoarding definitely attracts your eye as you drive by the Kings Mountain neighborhood where most of the builds and hoardings looks run down and worn out. As the outsides, entering inside you get the same vibe and atmosphere as if you are entering a fine dine restaurant in Charlotte downtown. Everything is so arranged and neat and clean. I was really impressed. We were seated at our shiny clean booth and given the free appetizer of tacos. They also had a sauce bar with about 6 to 8 options to choose from. The pineapple salsa was my favorite. The menu book is huge running multiple pages. Most are the standard Mexican dishes or combinations of them, nothing innovative. You definitely need to take your time to go through them. Our order came in surprisingly fast, and the dishes were hot and fresh. I especially loved how thin their tortillas were. The chicken fajitas was alright but too much on salt. The chimichangas were crispy but not on the excellent side. The quesadillas were alright too. Overall the food was not exceptional compared to the great interiors they have. The dishes weren't really costly with each main entree costing less than $11. Overall it's a definite try if you are around Kings Mountain or returning from your trail. Excellent interiors and service, lot of food choices and some hot food that hardly puts a hole in your wallet. Definitely recommending!

Our food has always been tasty, but our service here is up and down. I'd love to rate it a 4, but I never leave as satisfied as I do at El Acapulco in Shelby. The menu is full of great choices, and you can really get some great deals with low prices, but I find service depends more on the interest of the workers that day than on the crowd in the dining room. Just up and down experiences in a half a dozen visits.

    Pollo Asado

Delicious meal and great friendly service! Enjoyed warm crispy chips with salsa (ask for the chunky style if you like a little kick) during our short wait for our meal! Pollo Asada was very tasty, will order again!! Restaurant was very festive inside and was packed at 2:15 in the afternoon!

    3 Chicken Tacos

We stopped by tonight for tacos and queso. The parking lot was packed but people coming in out and so we thought it was a good sign. We waited 15 minutes and my boyfriend handed me the bag of food and we left. We should have checked the bag before we left because the didn't give us our queso. The chicken tacos were just chunks of chicken breast that I would have to cut up before eating. Everything was on the side because that's how that they serve it. We drove back and got our refund and that's how they said they serve it. We will not be back to this location.

    NOT a chile relleno!

Bone in chicken quesadilla. Found as we were taking out green peppers. The rest of the food was ok.

*Updated Review* January 6, 2025…read more We were invited back by the owner to experience the exciting changes made to the restaurant, and I am happy to say it was a complete turnaround from my previous visit. It is clear that these updates have made a big difference. Starting with the exterior, the restaurant now boasts a fresh coat of paint and a new entry arch, giving it a clean and welcoming look. Inside, they have removed the buffet to add more tables, creating a more spacious and modern feel. There is also a new bar area where guests can enjoy drinks while watching games on the TVs. The tabletops have been updated, and the décor beautifully complements the murals, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. One standout addition is their bakery, which offers fresh-baked goods made on-site. The updated menu is visually appealing, and the food quality is top-notch, making for an exceptional dining experience. For the table, we enjoyed the Bandeja Antigua--a platter with 1 chuchito, 1 tamal, 1 tostada with guacamole, 1 tostada with beans , 1 tostada with tomato sauce, 2 plantain rellenitos, 2 crispy chicken tacos , 2 chicken empanadas, and Chapin-style enchiladas. My husband and neighbor tried their Charro Beans and fell in love with the flavor. I tried their special ceviche--fish , octopus , shrimp , red onions , tomatoes , cilantro, and cucumber. It came in a beautiful boat-shaped bowl and was definitely flavorful. It was topped with sliced avocado . My husband had the Burrito California--rice , beans , grilled chicken , onion , tomato , and bell peppers topped with melted cheese . He definitely didn't complain. Something to note, though, is that if you order a burrito "a la Antigua," it includes rice, beans, lettuce, onion, cilantro, cream, and cheese inside the nurrito, not on the plate. My other neighbor ordered the Burrito Cheese Steak- Grilled steak, fried onions, inside the burrito, served with rice, beans, and cream salad, topped with melted cheese. Their vision remains centered on their team--motivated, dedicated individuals committed to providing excellent service to every guest. They genuinely value the community that supports them and strive to create meaningful connections. With a focus on sustainability, efficiency, and constant innovation, their mission is to bring people together and make every visit memorable and enjoyable. To further show their appreciation for the community, they offer a 50% discount to active military personnel, police officers, and firefighters, as well as a 10% discount for veterans. It's heartwarming to see their dedication not only to great service but also to giving back. We honestly had no complaints about the quality of the food or service; it was well worth the price, and the amazing tastes were a definite plus!!
