Would help if the orders were correct when picking up the order. ** Update 04/14: Giovanni's reached out to me through email. The issue was with the garlic cheese bread. I ordered an extra side of Alfredo sauce to go with it, but the marinara was not in the bag when I got home. I was told the marinara is not included, despite it being included in the photo of the cheese bread on the website. Bumping up a star for getting a timely response/apology for the misunderstanding. **

I was really confused about this place because I had always driven right past it thinking it was…read moresome cheesy (no pun intended) local pizza shop but then it won a local award so I went to Yelp to check reviews. The reviews were average, so now I was really confused. My job was to delve into the reviews. Delve I did, information I found. Most people like or love the pizza and Italian food here. The average rating is mostly due to things like: they didn't cut the pizza in squares, they charge more for delivery, the pizza was doughy, and other ridiculous things. This would also be a good time to point out that there were several 1-Star reviews for this establishment. When this happens, I go to those profiles and see what's up. The first one I checked only had one review, which tells me it was a personal issue related to someone on the staff. Another one had mostly 1-Star reviews. These are just miserable people. In fact, if you're getting to know someone and want to know more about their character, find their reviews somewhere online. If they're mostly negative, stay away! If they're all positive, also be wary--something is amiss and while someone like that might seem kind, they are far from real. If someone is mostly positive to help businesses but also fair and balanced, that is a real one. ;) Anyway, my point about the Yelp rating for Giovanni's is that it's unfair. The pizza is very solid! It's not the best pizza I had in my life but it's in the upper echelon. I got my pizza to go because it was my first visit. I learned this long ago. Always get your pizza to go on the first visit because if you don't like it, you don't want to offend the owner (if present). The service here was outstanding. The dude at the register was friendly, efficient, and admitted that they're better at pizza than grammar after I hesitantly pointed something out on the wall (couldn't help it: your/you're situation). Based on reviews, the Italian food is also pretty good. I'll definitely be back to give it a shot. And two side notes here... One, they have grandma pizza. Any pizza joint that has grandma slices is a real one! Two, if the name is Giovanni's, Vinny's, Tony's, etc., it's also a good sign! Stay away from pizza joints that have 'NY Pizza' in their name. They ain't the real ones. I'm glad I finally stopped here. The pizza was very good and I'm big on service, which was great. I also know it's two slices for $7, which is a little high but it's basically a $7 meal. Definitely recommended!

We went for lunch, seated right away, we decided sit at the bar. Great service was provided. I think a manager came out was kind of sitting at the end of the bar, he too was so friendly. And lucky he did because we didn't know about there dessert area. It was out of view, but yes make sure you walk back there and see all the delicious dessert, made all in house homemade. Nice drinks selection and very nice selection on the bar from bourbons to tequilas and everything in between. Now, hear me on this, I THINK I found some of the best pizza in Charlotte!!!!! The restaurant outside of the actually city, but you know what I mean That saying a lot being from Buffalo. But man, their Hawaiian heat wave pizza. Just had pepperoni, pineapple and drizzled with hot honey. Look before you say ick pineapple don't belong on pizza, please just try this one first. There sauce incredibly good and the crust was cooked to perfection. Absolutely loved this pizza. We got wings, a burger and blackened chicken panini as well. No complaints on the food. Everything we had was really good. If I lived in Charlotte I'd be here once a week for the pizza alone. Maybe they will see this and offer shipping hahaha.. I also couldn't leave without a dessert, so went with the apple pie blossom..no complaints, flaky crust, filled nicely, great ending to our meal Seriously tho, this spot was a hit, great location, great service and amazing food.

Both pizzas were hard and unpleasant to eat. The crust on the cheese pizza was not even edible, and the no-cheese pizza was also hard with burnt pepperonis and barely any sauce. When I called to ask about a replacement, I was told that remaking it with more marinara sauce wouldn't make a difference--which I know isn't true, since I've ordered the same thing from other Pizza Hut locations and from places like Domino's without these issues. There was plenty of sauce on it too, which mattered since the person eating it is lactose intolerant. They did allow me to switch it out for double breadsticks by bringing the pizza back, which I appreciated. Still, I don't know if I'll return to this location. Honestly, I'm kind of over Pizza Hut as a whole since they got rid of their famous pan pizza (and I don't count the $2 "extra" pan version--it's just not the same as the one from childhood).
