I was really confused about this place because I had always driven right past it thinking it was some cheesy (no pun intended) local pizza shop but then it won a local award so I went to Yelp to check reviews. The reviews were average, so now I was really confused. My job was to delve into the reviews. Delve I did, information I found. Most people like or love the pizza and Italian food here. The average rating is mostly due to things like: they didn't cut the pizza in squares, they charge more for delivery, the pizza was doughy, and other ridiculous things. This would also be a good time to point out that there were several 1-Star reviews for this establishment. When this happens, I go to those profiles and see what's up. The first one I checked only had one review, which tells me it was a personal issue related to someone on the staff. Another one had mostly 1-Star reviews. These are just miserable people. In fact, if you're getting to know someone and want to know more about their character, find their reviews somewhere online. If they're mostly negative, stay away! If they're all positive, also be wary--something is amiss and while someone like that might seem kind, they are far from real. If someone is mostly positive to help businesses but also fair and balanced, that is a real one. ;) Anyway, my point about the Yelp rating for Giovanni's is that it's unfair. The pizza is very solid! It's not the best pizza I had in my life but it's in the upper echelon. I got my pizza to go because it was my first visit. I learned this long ago. Always get your pizza to go on the first visit because if you don't like it, you don't want to offend the owner (if present). The service here was outstanding. The dude at the register was friendly, efficient, and admitted that they're better at pizza than grammar after I hesitantly pointed something out on the wall (couldn't help it: your/you're situation). Based on reviews, the Italian food is also pretty good. I'll definitely be back to give it a shot. And two side notes here... One, they have grandma pizza. Any pizza joint that has grandma slices is a real one! Two, if the name is Giovanni's, Vinny's, Tony's, etc., it's also a good sign! Stay away from pizza joints that have 'NY Pizza' in their name. They ain't the real ones. I'm glad I finally stopped here. The pizza was very good and I'm big on service, which was great. I also know it's two slices for $7, which is a little high but it's basically a $7 meal. Definitely recommended! read more

Recently tried them out after receiving a coupon in the mail after recently moving to the area. I placed an order on the phone and was told it would be 35 minutes. I got there around that time, and the food was ready. They seemed to have plenty of workers and I was greeted by a gentleman in the kitchen while the lady finished up a phone call. They seemed to be busy with takeout orders, I didn't see anyone eating in. My husband absolutely LOVED the pizza, he was raving about the crust. We aren't pizza connoisseurs by any means but both of us (and our 6 year old) thought it was yummy. We even added on the garlic knots with marinara sauce for a little something else. Sadly, I have given this place several opportunities, and it always ends up being the same. We ordered one pizza tonight and it took over an hour and a half to get that one pizza. My wife literally has been waiting for over half an hour at their location to pick up our pizza. I called and spoke with an employee and mentioned the problem to them and also told them that their app said our pizza would be ready over 30 minutes ago and she told me that the app was 100% accurate and that they're just busy on the weekends If it takes an hour and a half for you to make one pizza and your excuses, you have one cook and one oven and then you tell me as a customer "Well, what would you like me to do?" Then you not only need to find a different job but need to change your business plan altogether. She then proceeded to argue with me over the phone about how I was wrong about the timing even though their app is through "Toast" Ordering application. My husband & I had an absolutely delicious dinner at Giovanni's tonight. The salad was fresh and delicious, with the best homemade Italian dressing! The spaghetti and meatballs were amazing. The meatballs are the best I've ever had, as is the spaghetti sauce. Chef Nikki personally came to our table to make sure everything was as ordered. Split a large pizza.. good size for 3 people. We had sausage, peppers, mushrooms. While the toppings were generous, the center of the pie was quite soggy. Most of the topping were towards the middle of the pizza so it weighed it down. Need more toppings by the crust so I don't have to eat the pizza with a fork and knife due to its sogginess. Nice Neighborhood Italian Restaurant A couple of months ago, my wife and I went to Giovanni's in Denver for lunch and somehow the review ended up being saved as a draft. Nice relaxed atmosphere much like some of the small Italian Restaurants you find in Northern Jersey. Good place to relax and have a cold one with friends and have some good conversation. Not overly noisy so a good place for that. Inside is clean and well maintained so that's a plus. Not overly busy when we were here but service was still slow for an appetizer order of Fried Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara and two hot subs. The Fried Cheese Sticks had been somewhat overcooked and the Marinara Sauce was very bland with no taste of fresh tomatoes or the traditional Italian Herbs like Basil, Oregano or Fennel My Meatball Sub was overcooked as well and very dry and again, no taste of Italian Herbs. On the other hand, my wife really enjoyed her Sub and said she would come back at another time for another just like the one she had. The pizza isn't great, however, and if you buy it by the slice you should check what year it might have been prepared. The pizza is good especially if it's a custom built variety and the pricing is fair enough. The staff was very nice and the gentleman that took our order gave us some good recommendations and was honest about what he liked on the menu. I had a 10" personal pie w/ Italian sausage and it filed my craving perfectly. The dough was soft and buttery, and the toppings all tasted of top ingredients. The quality control coming out if this kitchen should be embarrassed, undercooked pizza now 2x, ordered counter food another few times only to be given a hard time by some woman who claimed to be the manager with no etiquette what's so ever. Ordered a meatball parm the other day. It seemed to be missing a meatball, was cold and lacked any kind of mozzarella cheese. Tried to bring to managers attention and was told this was the norm now with the price increases. I've been craving Italian food for days. Not pizza but good pasta, and I'm always on the search for good meatballs. My daughter and I dropped in after visiting a kids consignment sale in the area looking to try their Italian pasta dishes and Giovanni's did not disappoint. She had the Pasta combo which was Lasagna, stuffed shells and Manicotti $14.50 and I had the tour of Italy, Eggplant Parmigiana, meatball and lasagna, also $14.50. We also ordered the Mozzarella Caprese (fresh mozzarella, sliced tomato and basil drizzled with olive oil and balsamic) The Appetizer was just ok, as tomatoes aren't really in season right now, but the Italian dishes were fabulous. My daughters favorite was the lasagna and aside of a really really good meatball that was tender and juicy perfection, I really enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana most of all. Both pasta dishes were served with two delicious garlic knots. No pictures because I excused myself to the restroom requesting my daughter to take a pic if the food came while I was gone, and she forgot. I was excited to see the food when I returned, so I forgot too. I will definitely return to Giovanni's. I think I have finally found the perfect spot for a meatball sub. read more
