I decided to do a 3-way pizza showdown between Pizza Hut, Domino's, and Papa John's. Here are the results... The first question I had to ask myself was what kind of pizza would I order to truly test each of these chains. I decided on supreme pizzas for two reasons: 1. Because I love supreme pizza. 2. Because it'll give each restaurant the chance to show off it's ingredients. I placed each order using each restaurant's own app, I wanted to make sure they all had the chance to use their own technology. As far as the ordering process through the apps, they were all pretty similar, maybe a small edge going to Pizza Hut for the user interface. Before we get to the actual pizzas, I have to mention delivery times. Domino's and Papa John's both got to my house in around 20 minutes - not bad at all! But Pizza Hut on the other hand took an hour and 3 minutes. For real, that was really disappointing. I was shocked how bad Pizza Hut was at delivery. Now for the results of the pizzas... Domino's: Overall tasted like what I would expect from a pizza restaurant. Crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings were solid and little overall heaviness and a tad messy - that's not a bad thing. I enjoyed this pizza the most out of the 3. Papa John's: The crust, sauce, and cheese reminded me more of a grocery store pizza than a pizza restaurant. But the toppings themselves were higher quality than the other two. It was a close second, but Papa John's landed in the #2 spot just behind Domino's. Bonus points for the pepperoncini and complimentary garlic sauce. Pizza Hut: I went with their Original Pan crust because they told me it was their "Most Popular" in the app and I like pan style crust. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the texture of the crust. It was way to thick and bread-y and I usually like a thick crust, but the ratio of bread to toppings was way off. It was just more like bread than pizza dough. I really couldn't get past that, I don't even remember the rest of it. Overall this was easiest the worst of the 3 pizzas. read more

The taste of the bbq wings and the breadsticks tasted great but how it was delivered was not. As you can see from the pictures I was delivered a box with breadsticks that was leaking. The driver really didnt even seem to care and just said 'I dont know what happened even though I gave him a generous tip before that. The wings were okay but for 8.50 of 8 you would think they would be bigger. This is the last time I'll be ordering from Papa John's again. read more

This is not the 1st time ordering from this location. What's consistent is their excuses for late delivery's. This drivers are fantastic but something must be wrong with the management. My most recent experience ordering at 5:30 pm and requesting a 6:45 delivery. 7:30pm and 2 calls to the store and it has arrived. Both Papa Johns employees said that the Pizza is on the way and both were not being honest. Great Pizza but poor management not this location. read more

This is a huge shout out for customer service at the Papa John's off HWY 9 (next to Grasslands Kroger). I placed an order online for a scheduled delivery, not an immediate order, and 15 mins after the scheduled delivery time and still no pizza, I decide to call the store. Sydney was not the first person I spoke with but by the time she got on the phone she took immediate control of the situation and started to correct the situation. I want to applaud this woman,and the store, for her excellent customer service! We are loyal papa customers and tonight, with Sydney's assistance, we will continue to be huge fans of Papa John's! This location totally sucks. My Garden Fresh Pizza had no flavor. The ingredients were not fresh but old. And they gave me a thin crust when I ordered the original crust for so many toppings. I stopped going here for obvious reasons. Lesson learned! Will definitely be going to the new location near Windward Pkwy. read more

This is the worst pizza I've every had even compared to the 1980's frozen grocery store pizzas. The cardboard box it came in would had probably had better flavor and texture. The "sparse" toppings were concentrated only on a few slices instead of being distributed across the pizza. I showed up earlier than they said it would be ready and it was still cold. This is my first ever visit to my local Papa John's Pizza and my last, I will travel 4 times the distance to go to my regular pizza restaurant. Papa Johns is delicious!! We recently have been ordering the thin crust pizza and it is great! It comes with a special seasoning packet that makes each bite great! My husband accidentally had our pizza delivered to his office rather than our home and we didn't realize it until the driver called us when he arrived at the office. (it was on a Sunday too‍) We were going to cut our losses, pay for it and just place another order as my husband was sure our home was out of their territory for delivery given it's about 20-25 mins from his office. However, the driver couldn't have been nicer about our screw up, which was ultimately at his expense and he delivered the pizza to our home! We forgot to catch his name but he was great!!! Placed order online at 935pm. Said it would be 30-40 minutes. Was rainy so gave them benefit of doubt. Never heard anything from them. Called them an hour later at 1035 to cancel (my kids were now in bed). Guy that answered phone rude and couldn't have cared less - said it was drivers fault then tried to accuse me that is wasn't as long as I said. Informed the dummy I had the confirmation email and he clenched up. Luckily the refunded my $ as I paid online. This has happened before at this location so beware. Go elsewhere. Better ingredients. This has (unfortunately) been 'my store' for past two residences which encompasses the last 10 years of my life and I would say I've been moderately to severely disappointed with the decision to get pizza from there 4 times out of 5. IDK how hard it is to run a PJ's but this is surely a bad apple for the company. I've never had such problems at other locations. The pizza is okay. About what you can expect from Papa John's. My problem is that I haven't had a single online order to this Papa John's in the last 6 months where the driver showed up with the correct and complete order. I've been left with pizzas that are labeled for someone else enough times that I've started checking and refusing pizzas. If I attempt to order drinks, the driver ALWAYS forgets them, whether I order 2L or 20oz bottles. It's always clearly circled on the order sticker on the pizza box, but the drivers act surprised every single time when I ask for the drinks. No refunds to date in spite of every driver telling me they'd call back to the store and report the missing items. I did have one driver go back to the store and come back with the drinks once, but have had at least 5 other instances where I just didn't get what I paid for. My driver tonight was clearly new. He kept me on the phone for 10 minutes to get turn-by-turn directions to my door. I'm not in an unfamiliar or far off part of town. I felt bad for him since he was clearly struggling and we all have bad days at work, but he also didn't show up with my full order. I'd be thrilled if I could get the correct order from this Papa John's even once. read more

I only come here because it is close to my work. Other papa john locations are so much better. I always get double extra or triple extra cheese and it's always just the normal amount. You never get the extras that you pay for. I used to work at a different papa johns where we used cups and actualy made sure you got what you ordered. This place needs some help. Their pizza game is seriously lacking. I've spent so much money on extra toppings that I never get, I just alwats have hope that the next time will be different but it never is. I placed on online order this time, went to pick it up and waited 5 minutes before even talking to anyone. Some woman came over and said that the guy would be up to help me soon. I wanted to write a quick review because we had awesome service. We were at our neighborhood pool in the Olde Union Preserve neighborhood. We had placed our order but realized we had no plates or cups for our soda. The pizza and breadsticks arrived nice and hot, and the soda was cold. The delivery girl was nice enough to include cups and plates and napkins because she "figured we might need them". Maybe they do this for everyone, but it saved us a trip home to get plates and cups and made our meal more enjoyable. We think her name was Kelsy or Chelsea. read more
