I'm late to the party But, I'm so happy I was finally able to check out Papa Diesel. The ambiance was steady traffic dining in & take out . I ordered a little bit of everything. I decided to order the Diesel fries with brisket , & the diesel sampler which came with 1/4 lb of brisket ,ribs , pulled pork, sausage, & wings. I also decided to make it a meal for an extra $3 so I was able to get 2 sides and roll & drink . The sides I decided on was the Brussel sprouts w/bacon and the three spice baked beans. For my drink I decided on the sweet tea and for dessert o got a key lime cake slice. The food didn't take very long. I did take the food to go but, I did a taste test before heading home. The fries were for my husband but they were delicious and it was def filling ! The sampler was amazing and I def recommend if you're not sure which exact meat you want. The brisket & ribs were so tender they melt in your mouth. The sausage was a bit spicy but good and the pork was seasoned well. The wings were also very good. The sides were delicious but, the Brussel sprouts were very salty and especially as you got to the bottom of the container. The key lime pie was spectacular! I was able to refill my sweet tea while I waited at no additional cost . Overall all I enjoyed this place and look forward to visiting again . read more

I did the diseal sampler came with chicken, port, ribs, brisket, and sausage. I subbed the sausage and got more wings. Everything was great, amazing taste, smokey and moist. Pork was a "little" greasy, eating it just plain, but if you got it on a bun would be out of this world. Ribs fell off the bone. Brisket by far my fav. Cashier was great and talked about the meat options and sauce with knowledge. My only diss to this place is WHERE THE HECK is the potato salad? Finally got a chance to try this place that my husband wouldn't shut up about and I gotta say he was right, this place is full of flavor! I loved how they have a sampler and you're able to try a little but of everything. Everything was perfect, the meat had great seasonings and perfect texture. My husband and I both love bbq but it's been hard finding a really good spot near us. We know of a place in Sanford, but neither of us ever want to drive there just to get bbq. Well, now that we've found papa diesels we will never have to go far to get bbq. This place is soooo good! My husband got the full rack ribs and the smoked Gouda Mac n cheese. The first thing he said after trying both was "I don't know which one is better" he was really impressed with the ribs and he doesn't easily impress. As for me, I got the papa diesels fries and this was so good! I was worried it would all get soggy since I was taking it home, but even after I got home the fries maintained their crisp. I got it with the brisket and it's such a great combination! I also didn't wait long at all for my food and the staff were really friendly. When I walked in, there were hardly any people at the restaurant, which surprised me because Everytime I've passed by it's been somewhat packed, but I'm happy I went when it wasn't yet full because I was able to get my food right away. read more

This was our first experience, and we discovered very friendly customer service and quality barbecue. A native Texan, I'm particular about barbecue, especially brisket. The kind order taker and server told me about the lunch special, which included a brisket sandwich, a side, a beverage, and sauce. The lean brisket was piled high on the fresh bun. The refreshing lemonade was neither too sweet, not too tart. The unique beans had a spicy, sweet flavor. I would have preferred them mostly drained to avoid searching for the beans throughout the sauce. A spoon would probably have been better than a fork to eat them with. We had to drive for almost an hour to get to Papa Diesel's but it was well worth the trip. The ribs were tender and flavorful, the Eloise sandwich was huge and provided a good taste test of the brisket, pork, and sausage. Delicious and huge. The mac and cheese was gooey good, made with Gouda cheese and the Brussell sprouts with bacon were even better, my personal favorite side. We noted the place was very clean. He communicated quickly and clearly and was able to accommodate some dietary restrictions for a group. The lady at the counter was very friendly and made great recommendations for us. I got the loaded fries with pulled pork and my dad got the brisket sandwich with 3 spice beans, Mac and cheese, and a corn muffin. My loaded fries were awesome! The topping to fry ratio was great and the portion was a good value for the price. The pulled pork was tender and well sauced. The Gouda cheese sauce was delicious and I adored the cilantro sauce. I also had the Alabama white sauce and it was creamy and well seasoned. The brisket was perfection. All the sides were delicious! What a wonderful addition to the Apopka area! We ordered ribs, pulled pork, chicken wings, Mac and cheese, beans, fries and corn bread. The menu boasts no sauce needed, which thankfully was true since with all the meat we ordered we only got two tiny sauce containers... The stand out item for us all was the ribs! They are beyond fall off the bone tender. The dry rub is a good mix of spice and herbs. Our only issue was the pulled pork seemed a smidge salty but not enough to not order it again! Holy heck, this place is a diamond in the rough! I stopped by because I saw "diesel BBQ" and I was like, SOLD! The pulled pork sandwich was one of the best I've had in awhile.
